QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) No highlights on whitesox.com? Dumb. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...64&c_id=cws I'm not a Peavy fan, never was. But if he can be half decent, that helps us a lot.

Brent Morel = The Mole?
Leonard Washington replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't see the appeal with "Hot Fire". Seems cliched. I do like demorelizer the best out of my drunk creations. But I'm drunk again so let's see what I can conjure up. I still think too much emphasis is put on the name though. I've noticed Morel looks like he's about 45 years old. I suggest the name "Old Balls" because he looks old and baseball is played with a ball. It just makes sense to me. Or maybe even "Gold Balls" because he could win a gold glove someday -

I also think, and I'm guilty too, that we feel the need to associate a player's nickname with his given name. Most of the best nickname's have nothing to do with the player's actual name. So I think we should ask ourselves...what makes Morel unique? He's quiet, shrugged shoulders, innocent eyebrows, looks like Cosmo Kramer..... His mannerisms remind me of a shy schoolboy. If he had a bit more power I think "Schoolboy Crusher" would be a pretty wicked name. But we need something more defense oriented. He's also one of those blue collar type players. Perhaps "Brent Money" would be fitting? Or what about "The Silent Assassin"? That's a nickname a chick friend used to have for a guy who was really quiet during sex....but it seems to fit with Morel. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) Ha, that's so cheesy that it's awesome I've also been hoping for a Doug Fister acquisition simply for the "You've Been Fisted!" sign potential after every strikeout. Corny is how I roll. -

I think his name has a lot of nickname potential. Like if he makes a great play to kill a rally....that's demoralizing. He's the demorelizer. DM. -
I think if there's anything to be learned from the Wainwright injury, it's that having a surplus of pitchers can really come in handy. I'm not in any rush to trade one of ours away unless we're out of it midseason. It would be hard to argue against a Buehrle for Rasmus swap, but since that won't happen there's not much point in bothering. I don't know that our team has any need important enough to fill that it would require trading a starter (for a realistic return that is, which Rasmus is not). Not yet anyways
-
I don't think Sale can be traded yet.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) I see no reason to trade Flowers in the near future. If he's productive this year, you have a solid 3rd string catcher at AAA for the time-being and a backup catcher/platoon option for 2012. He'll have decent trade value, but considering we'll need a long-term answer at catcher, his value will likely be greater to our team. If he sucks, he'll basically destroy any value he has at the moment and becomes organizational filler. Considering we probably can't get much for him right now anyways, might as well roll the dice on him having a bounce-back season. I still believe he can become a solid catcher in the future. This basically sums up my thoughts.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) Quentin losing weight has me nervous. There seems to be a positive correlation between losing weight and continued suckage. Not necessarily. It depends on the weight loss. There's weight loss that comes from losing muscle, but I can't picture Quentin slacking off to hard. If he sacrificed bulk for a more lean-muscle strengthening regimen, that could really help his game. Usually a leaner build is less injury prone. It could also help him be more agile in the field. Time will tell I guess.

KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
Leonard Washington replied to soxsoxsoxsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 12:35 AM) Even if KW had 30 million to throw around, where do you out Konerko and Dunn? It would have to be Dunn in LF in 2012, which would never happen. -
My positive prediction: Beckham breaks out in a huge way. My negative prediction: That slight forearm soreness becomes something major for Thornton. I've suspected the Ohman signing might have been insurance for this.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Is this right? The White Sox have won more playoff games than the Twins over the past 3 years? And the White Sox have more World Series titles in the past 10 years? But I thought the Twins were one of the top teams in the league! his avatar=the twins in the playoffs.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
Leonard Washington replied to witesoxfan's topic in The Diamond Club
The Jays will make things very interesting very soon. Richest ownership in baseball, smart front office that has the ownerships total backing. Going into last offseason they had one of the worst farm systems in baseball. Now, one of the absolute best. And they should only get better. Meanwhile, they have a solid major league team as well. And I live in Toronto....people are starting to get excited again. Don't forget the Blue Jays set records for attendance in the early 90's. The city will support a winner. -

Sox have been trying to extend Danks for 2.5 years
Leonard Washington replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) The idea that he hasn't tried to extend John Danks is just mindboggling. There is a better chance that we pay off the national debt in the next week, than Kenny Williams hasn't tried multiple times to extend John. Where exactly did I say he hadn't tried before? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) I'm partial to being excited when publications pick us to win our division, but maybe that is just me! Since when does recognizing your team's minor league system is in rough shape equal not caring about he major league team? -

QUOTE (since56 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) They could finish anywhere from 2nd to last depending on the other teams. Toronto? Tampa- falling off? New York-geriactic ward They must improve the pitching to be taken seriously as a play off contender. Now that they got Vlad maybe the Sox could get luke Scott! The awkward handshake between Luke Scott and Obama after a hypothetical World Series win would be hilarious. -

Alexei Ramirez signs 4 year extension
Leonard Washington replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's my girlfriend's favourite player because he's always smiling and looks like a kid having fun. If he makes her complain less that I'm making her watch the White Sox play, he's worth A-Rod money. His play this game doesn't hurt either. He's simply talented and fun to watch. My favourite defensive play of 2010. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...ame_pk%3D265204 -

Leonard Washington replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Or here's an idea: "Hey John. We'd really like to extend you. We want to do so at a reasonable cost. We're also not quite sure if your brother is major league calibre CF, or if we should convert him to a LOOGY and start him off in the DSL next season. Anyways, does X amount of dollars seem fair?" Seems like something KW would do. Edit: ROOGY -

Leonard Washington replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When D1 fired Boras, I thought the Sox would keep him for sure. This is sad to hear. Hopefully we have a great season and Danks signs a reasonable extension amidst the "high" of a successful campaign. -
You have to remember that Angel Hernandez was the umpire that called two balks on Buehrle later on in the season. Joe West was the 3rd base umpire and didn't call anything. Do you guys honestly think Angel suddenly started thinking MB's move was a balk? Not a chance. Angel had West's back, and the Sox paid for it. Umpires are police. They're authoritative personalities that stick together, right or wrong.

Rios' mediocre OBP might be his biggest weakness. Batting him leadoff would be like putting Paulie in CF. It exploits the player's biggest weakness.
