QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:58 AM) You'll get no rebuttal from me. But you know if Boston wins the division and Toronto finishes third or fourth that Gonzalez will more than likely win it. Maybe I'm being too optimistic about the voting community. but I'm actually among the believers that members of playoff teams should have precedence. In cases of extremities, like A-Rod or Bonds, exceptions are more than accepted.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:34 AM) Boston looks incredibly good right now (save for when we swept them). They're 34-16 since that 2-10 start. Crawford is back to being Crawford. Adrian Gonzalez is an MVP favorite. Josh Beckett is having his best season since '07. They do have bullpen issues, though. But their system is so damn deep that they can either upgrade internally or dangle some bait to other teams for reinforcements. My only correction would be that Adrian Gonzalez is an MVP runner-up favourite. Nobody currently challenges Bautista, playoffs or not. I'm from Toronto, and my Jays fan friends are all "what's with Bautista lately???" He's at .351/.502/.723, but he's "slumping"

Slumps and Adam Dunn: they've met before
Leonard Washington replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:22 AM) Please let this be the beginning of a .950+ OPS from here on out. He owes us that. I second that with every fibre of my being. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:29 AM) Looking at the play-by-play recap, a player reached on a fielding error at 2B, and they apparently count that as a groundout for Reed. So he had 1 K, and 3 groundouts in the 6th inning, and then struck out the side in the 7th. (Their 3, 4, and 5 hitters who were 4 for 7 against the other pitchers) JoeCoolMan24>Daniel Wagner

Is anybody else enjoying the mainstream media panic about Joba possibly needing Tommy John? He's an above average at best middle reliever...possibly the most replaceable piece of any team's puzzle, nevermind a team with the Yankees resources. This guy is so stupidly overrated.

Slumps and Adam Dunn: they've met before

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) And congrats to Dunn for the homer tonight. In the interview he said he was bound and determined to conquer the DH role. Maybe he'll get hot. If he dominates the summer months, the boos will be long forgotten and he'll hear steady cheers. The guy is so big you'd think just making consistent contact would result in some dingers. It will. His HR tonight would have been a routine flyball off almost anybody else's bat. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Another great outing for Addison Reed. Seriously, get this kid to AA. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. 50 K to just 5 BB in 36 IP this year. His peripherals are outstanding. 6.19 H/9, 1.23 BB/9, 12.39 K/9, 10 K:BB, 0.82 WHIP Now 8 of those innings are from Low-A, but his rates have been roughly the same from Low-A to High-A. I'm a little confused about Reed's overall line today. He had 2.0 IP with 4 strikeouts, and 0 walks or hits allowed, yet he also had 3 groundouts? That just doesn't add up. I guess one of his strikeouts got away from the catcher? If that's the case, that's a potentially great sign for the movement of his slider. I'm also happy to see all of his non-strikeout-outs were of the groundball variety. Obviously it's a tremendously small sample size, but he'd been allowing a lot more flyballs since his promotion.

Since the end of April Ohman's been about what you'd expect him to be in his overall numbers. -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) Did Eric Chavez pump gallons of steroids into his body? He had short-lived monsterism. Didn't he suffer back problems, not unlike Crede? -
Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 2
Leonard Washington replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in FutureSox Board
Oney was drafted in 2007 in the 36th round and you didn't hear a peep from anybody. In fact, he signed on. In 2008 Ken Williams Jr. gets drafted 6th round, and signs on. In 2010 Oney Guillen gets drafted 22nd round, and the sky is falling. -
Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 2
Leonard Washington replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in FutureSox Board
For all we know, Ozzie being in a bad mood could be totally unrelated. I seriously doubt it, but he never stated a reason. Maybe it was something from the clubhouse, or other personal matters. Who knows for sure. I just posted his tweet because I found it coincidental. But that's really all it is at this point. -

Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 1

He's a punchline in the Jays front office. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) He needs to draw some freaking walks. I can live with his lack of power that we all knew about if he just gets on base at a decent clip and plays very good defense. Definitely. If his walk rate doesn't improve, he's not an MLB caliber player. No argument needed.

Slumps and Adam Dunn: they've met before
Leonard Washington replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 02:07 AM) I may be statistically traditional but I know strikeout totals when I see them and my eyes tell me he hasn't done squat and it's June 4. Yes I know he's drawn some walks. Well, I posted that under the assumption he'd remain somewhat consistent in his ISO. Traditional or not, he's been horrible. But I'm still holding out some hope (although it's depleting) that we didn't sign Pat Burrell. -
Slumps and Adam Dunn: they've met before
Leonard Washington replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm torn on my thoughts about Dunn. My initial thoughts were as follows: My post was here in a blog that I haven't had any time to update with a new job. http://southsidemanifesto.blogspot.com/201...-im-debbie.html The other predictions are pretty accurate too, unfortunately. But I still expect a turnaround from Dunn. -
They do remind me a lot of each other defensively. Offensively they could also be potentially similar. Neither strikes out too much, and neither (obviously in Morel's case) walks very much. I don't think Morel is ever going to have the power upside of Crede, but I think he has the potential to be a more consistent/complete hitter that compares to Crede in the big scheme of things.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) Gallagher is the Ross Gload type, and he can play the corner outfield spots as well. Marrero is more like Adam Lind with a tad less power, but better contact. You would know better than I would with Marrero...but Adam Lind seems overly optimistic, at least statistically. Lind is a guy I actually know fairly well from my time with the Jays. Even if it was a flukey year in 2009, it wasn't totally outrageous. I can't ever imagine Marrero being among the best hitters in the game in any given season. He just doesn't strike me as having that kind of offensive upside. On the plus side, he seems considerably more athletic than Lind, who is ideally a DH.
-
Marrero could be a decent bench bat. I'm thinking something along the lines of Ross Gload.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) So wait, power hitters who strike out a lot and don't walk are needed on this team? I wouldn't say Viciedo strikes out a lot.

http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/multime...91&sid=milb Here's a Viciedo HR from the other day. He looks slimmer for sure.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 25, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Gotta get him to the big club, and play him. Kevin Goldstein today: "Dayan Viciedo, 1B/OF, White Sox (Triple-A Charlotte): 3-for-4, 3 2B, 2 R, RBI. Up to .318/.362/.538 in 44 games and Juan Pierre still plays every day in the big leagues"

Interview with Buddy Bell
Leonard Washington replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 19, 2011 -> 12:08 AM) I cut it out because it didn't pertain to the interview at all, and I put "per SSS" in the byline, so as to give them credit. No, I know. Again, I didn't mean to imply you were one of the people he was talking about. I just thought it was funny as I read the whole interview from SSS. It came out of nowhere and made me laugh. That's all. -
QUOTE (QuincyStandback @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) I didn't catch the game tonight. I was watching the Bulls play sloppy basketball. Jake Peavy pitch good? He was OK
