QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) I was thinking Dodgers as well, but I'm thinking Jonathan Bronxton. We always match up well the dodgers. I think a flowers/Viciedo and another throw in gets it done. Then I think we NEED to get a athletic high on base and average guy in RF. Whether it's a package with CQ or trading him for prospects for a RF. Then KW and Coop will have a pow-wow and find a few diamonds in the rough to piece the bullpen together till June or July. Anyone have a list of closers or the like of closers that may be available via trade? I've thought about Broxton too, but he's due $7MM in 2011 so i don't think we can afford him unless we shed some payroll in the deal. Flowers + Quentin + Teahen for Broxton. Seems like a lot, but Teahen has negative trade value, which kind of evens things up.

Crawford to Boston, $142 Million, 7 Years

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 12:16 AM) RM is bad at baseball, though. Nobody in major league baseball is bad at baseball. -

I'm just happy he went to Boston and not Detroit. We only play the Red Sox 6 times, so no big deal. And in terms of playoffs, the best team doesn't always win (far from it). -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) That one's OK, but I think Crawford has more power than that (especially moving into Fenway). It's better saying Paul O'Neill than Roberto Clemente too, to whom B-R says Crawford compares pretty favorably. Haha yeah he's not Clemente at all. But to be fair to DeJesus, he'd show more power number in Fenway than Kauffman too. Either way, he's not going to pull a hammy and turn into Pierre. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:53 PM) The Angels have a ton of money to spend, and I bet they go all in for Cliff Lee after losing out on Crawford. Plus, two teams have allegedly offered 7 years for Lee apparently, and the Yankees offered 6. I think they're a lot more likely to go after Beltre and Soriano. -

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) 302 million in new money for AGon and Crawford. WOW. Next time I hear a Red Sox fan complain about the Yankees buying their teams I'm going to lose it. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) A leg injury would make him the OPPOSITE of Juan Pierre. He's more like a leg injury away from turning into Paul O'Neill. I was going to reply the exact same thing, except replace Paul O'Neil with David DeJesus. -

I might as well have made this thread "Crawford to Boston; Lee to NY" because there's no way in hell the Yankees aren't getting Lee after this. -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) I'm fine with Pierre batting leadoff as long as he can get on base. If he can't drop him in the order. Either way the Sox lineup is good enough. If you can get a clear upgrade, do it, but don't deal just to deal. As far as the trade front, I could see Flowers and a lower level player getting dealt for bullpen arms. I think a deal with the Dodgers makes sense. They need some catching depth, and have plenty of bullpen arms....Schlichting, Jansen, Lindblom, etc.

I talked to Kevin Briand who headed the Jays' Canadian scouting for 10 years about Lawrie, and he said he's a very arrogant kid. But he also said he plays hard and doesn't even consider failure as an option. I imagine he must have liked him because he's still with the Jays (Briand) as a professional scout, and I'm sure AA consulted him first. He's also 20 years old, so it's not surprising if he's a bit immature.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
Leonard Washington replied to witesoxfan's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) Ew, Adam Russell. Good deal for SD. Although Bartlett is going to hit even worse in Petco than he did last year. I could actually see him doing well there. He's not a power guy anyways, so he's not losing much there. His blooper-power will probably benefit from the massive outfield. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 06:33 PM) For those of you who are Pierre fans, I personally don't care about the stolen bases. We are going to have a lot of thunder in our lineup, and the highest priority for our lead off hitter is to get on base. I want those Konerko, Dunn and Quentin home runs to come with one or more guys on base. Moreover, the Sox will have very good balance up and down the lineup. Pierre could very well be hitting with Beckham, Ramirez, or A.J. on base, and when he does, I will likely have no more confidence in his ability to do anything productive than I did last year. This team has a chance to score a lot of runs, especially if they can find a productive hitter to play either CF or RF, moving Quentin to LF. At that point, Rios could lead off, as I have advocated for some time. The Sox don't need to steal bases to manufacture runs, although Rios can do some of that as well. I'd be very happy to see Pierre moved, or relegated to a bench player, even if he is costing the Sox $5 million. Pierre gets on base more often than Rios.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
Leonard Washington replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) Realistically, he and Quentin should be looking at similar salaries this year, with Q as a first year arb-player. Q will probably beat him, but not by a whole lot. Quentin's going into his second year of ARB. -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) The Sox won't be able to re sign Andruw Jones, will they? So who is going to be the back up outfielder? Who'll step in if Rios or Pierre goes down? Teahen can't do that. De Aza?
-
I wanted Luke Scott on this team....not as much anymore. I doubt Obama would want him playing for his team either lol.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) Low low low BABIP last year, yet still had a nice Iso. He should bounce back nicely against the NLCentral's terrible pitching. He also started hitting about twice as many ground balls....it wasn't purely bad luck.
