Rangel Ravelo went 4-5 with 2 2B and 4 RBI, now hitting .500 at Kanny. Even more encouraging is that he's committed only 2 errors in 73 chances over 24 games this season. It should also be noted that Bradley Salgado has been quietly heating up over his last 10 games hitting .343/.410/.600/1.010. Hopefully the kid is turning a corner this season, can't have enough SS prospects.

I think we have enough options down in the minors to fill any bullpen needs with Reed, Infante, Remenowsky, Lindsay, etc. I have no problem trading away Carlos, his value with us will probably never be any higher (unless Carlos enters the Home Run Derby and kills the competition like Abreu did a few years back) and would probably be a pretty shrewd decision to move him for the best package available. I don't see the reason behind trading for a SP just to turn around and trade another SP for prospects when you could probably get a pretty compelling package of prospects for Quentin anyway. KW should be working the phones with the Giants 24/7 to pry away some of their better prospects, they desperately need some offense to stay in first in the West and might be desperate enough to give up some of their better prospects. I'd start discussions around a package around Zack Wheeler and one of Francisco Peguero, Gary Brown or Jarrett Parker first but would settle for something like 1 of Peguero, Brown or Parker, Eric Surkamp and Michael Main.

And Tyler Saladino...

I'd really like to see the Bulls trade up to the 17-20 pick and nab Kenneth Faried, looks like a Ben Wallace-type of player that could become a beast under Thibs' coaching. If we keep the picks I'd go with Chandler Parsons, not flashy but a solid basketball player that I think could contribute off the bench right away, and a Euro prospect that can season overseas for a couple more years. Mirotic and Bertrans are my top picks but wouldn't be disappointed with Bogdanovich either.

Rangel Ravelo is off to a hot start in Bristol, really like this kid. He's drawn comparisons to Mike Lowell, projectable power, hope his defense lets him stick at 3B.

I'm surprised that Brandon Short has created more excitement around here, only 22 years old in AA and has been able to adapt and excel at every level he's been promoted to. Looks like he could develop to a legit 20/20 guy in the future, maybe he becomes the player Alex Rios could've been minus the stellar D. Also, I think you can consider Dan Remenosky a legit prospect at this point, his K-BB rate is unbelievable.

Even though they won, Winston-Salem had an ugly day on the basepaths; 3 caught stealing and 2 picked off. Mercy!

Trayce Thompson stole home for Kannapolis which is pretty awesome. Looks like Kanny's bats woke up today too.

Depending on how the extension talks go between the Sox and Danks, I wouldn't mind seeing Kenny deal either Danks or Buehrle for some quality talent to bolster our minor league system and start a philosophy of plugging holes in our lineup with younger options rather than over-the-hill veteran stopgaps. If that entails enduring a couple of mediocre seasons and third-place finishes, then so be it. We need to get away from our current approach to putting together a lineup. I think we can deal from our only true source of strength, starting pitching, and acquire some dynamic bats that could help our team immediately as well as contribute for us in the near future as well. If an extension with Danks doesn't materialize this offseason, even before the Winter Meetings, I would be actively shopping him around. I submitted a trade scenario for Danks to the Rangers in an earlier thread so I won't belabor the point here. If Kenny is able to negotiate an extension with Danks then I think he should look to trade Buehrle for some bats. IMO I think the only way you get the most value out of Buerhle is by trading him to an NL contender that is in the win-now mode, it looks like the AL might have caught up to Mark these past couple of seasons and I think a move to the NL would re-energize his career as well as lengthen it considerably as well. I think the best match would be with the Reds, they're coming off their first playoff season the 1990s and could certainly use another consistent arm at the top of their rotation to go alongside Bronson Arroyo, Cueto and Volquez to form a rotation that could conceivably compete with the Phillies and Giants. I could see Buerhle dominating the NL Central next season as the NL tries to figure him out. So how about one of these two scenarios: White Sox send Mark Buerhle to the Reds, the Reds send Chris Heisey, Devin Mesoraco and Yorman Rodriguez or White Sox send Mark Buehrle to the Reds, the Reds send Juan Francisco and Devin Mesoraco. Heisey could be a suitable RF and no. 2 hitter, Juan Francisco would provide a power threat from the left side but there are serious concerns about his K rate and defense, could probably step in as our everyday DH in 2011, Mesoraco is a 22 year-old power-hitting catcher that had a breakout season but is blocked by the 2010 draft pick Yasmani Grandal and Yorman Rodriguez is a raw, toolsy 17 year-old that could be a superstar or superbust.

Nice to see Escobar lighting up the AFL, very Morel-esque. Anyone else see him putting up Orlando Cabrera type numbers potentially?

The deal I suggested in the original post was an effort to add some young, athletically dynamic talent to our farm system, especially up the middle at SS and CF. I would love to hear anyone else's proposals for trading Danks, having a spirited discussion about the future of the Sox is always a good time!

We've constantly been saying that Danks is probably close to his peak trading value due to his arbitration clock. I've tried to make my case as clear as possible, we should look into trading Danks since he's not likely to re-sign with us. I know that everyone wants Jon to stay here forever but the bottomline is that this is still a business and Kenny does have a budget (whether that budget is fair is a whole different debate).
