Justin Sellers traded to White sox according to Chris Cotillo

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Danish and Wheeler for Cespedes Avi, Danks, and Montas for Cargo I'm good with either of those. But I really think it'd be selling at the lowest for Avi and Montas cause I think both will be very good for whatever team has them, hopefuly it's Us.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) Why would somebody put that in a contract? I don't see the benefit for either side. I don't know it's smart though, his contract prevents his current team to offer a qualifying offer to him to get compensation thus limiting his options as a free agent. Less teams get interested if they lose a draft pick that clause allows him to resign or be a FA to all teams.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Would anyone give Detroit Avi back for a couple months of Cespedes? Not for a couple of months that would be steep.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Could go both ways. Positive, he likes it here with Aberu and Alexei as fellow Cubans. Negative, no draft pick connected to him and teams will likely overpay. Really so if he walks after the season there's no compensation for either that team or the Tigers if they keep Cespedes.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) Just for two-three months of him? I'm saying a lower starting pitching prospect and maybe Putnam or JP but who knows.

There is always an advantage of talking to Dombrowski, he doesn't F around. AA just said the same is his press conference. He said the Price deal was first talked about before Tulo and he wasn't available but AA told him to call them if anything changed. DD called at 6 last night and AA waited till after 10 didn't hear anything so was half way home till DD called at 1130 with ideas for deals. He said by three am they had a deal. So I hope we are talking to the Tigers about Cesepedes.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) So, what would Cespedes cost? Pitching. Probably starting and relief
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) YES, A RUMOR Go get em boys. Bob don't let us down break that scoop soon!!
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Is cespedes good at defense? Man, i'd love love love that power. Yes Cespedes has a rocket arm and is very good defensively. Plus playing with Abreu we would have a chance to resign him after the season.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) So you think CarGo is a good hitter but Upton isn't? Not necessarily but Upton would be a rental where CarGo would be for this season and beyond.

I don't want to give away the assets it would take to get upton for a month or two. I don't think he offers that much of an impact. Puig, Cespedes, Gomez and even Cargo (10HR in his last 13 games, and 7HR in his last 8) they can carry or ignite a slumping offense which we have been notorious for this season. And as much as you all don't like Ben revere he does the same. Can bunt, steal, slap a hit and steal. And as I said before he would be third on the team in hits.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) Hahn has been very quiet. Has he said anything about the Sox looking to add? All I've heard is speculation from fans and media. I don't remember the last time we heard a peep from Hahn or the FO. Only Hayes has had said anything out of the beat writers. It's weird, I know probably cause we just became "buyers" like you all have said. It's just a complete change from deadlines previous. It's almost too weird it's been really so quiet, like nothing this week besides they would wait for the bo sox series to determine the direction.

I really don't know much about Frazier don't really follow the national league. Has he had a good few years or really grown in popularity after this year winning the Derby etc?
-
Tigers also willing to trade Raji who I've always liked.
-
His 101 hits would be third on the team behind Abreu and Melky
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) He's okay and he'd be cheap to get but I hope we'd target somebody with more power. Ya nothing great but he is batting .298 with a HR and 26 RBIs. Has 24 SBs in 29 try's and has 101 hits, he doesn't strke out a lot. Plays the whole outfield and well, good guy to have on the bench if he's cheap.

Ken Rosenthal says the Phillies last move may be to move Ben Revere and an AL club is said to be interested. I would love that, although I have no idea how he has been this year. He has speed for days and plays a good d.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Reddick is my favorite name people have been reporting (aside from puig) I would imagine Reddick and Carlos Gomez would cost about the same who would you rather have? I think I rather have Carlos Gomez of the two.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 2m2 minutes ago Winning streak has likely turned #WhiteSox into buyers. Likely adding small piece but never count them out. http://bit.ly/1Dc8rPr Well let's hope we add a big piece. But if it is a smaller piece or someone for our bench, what are some possible names THST we'd be interested in?

Quietest rumor mill you can remember?
Frank_Thomas replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not only is it quiet for us but SD has been awful quiet themselves. I would like to match up with them for a SP and someone like Kemp. If we can get Cashner or Ross plus kemp for a group of prospects and Danks (only to offset some $) I would be happy. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Yeah, I think they are getting a pretty damn good return for a rental player. To a point you're right but even insiders say they are shocked they got Price without including Alford (which is great news for us) but it's not just the price deal. You look at Cueto, Tulo, Hamels. I just wasn't wowed by the return by any of them. But anytime you give up your top prospect it's a lot to give up I guess.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) Tigers get #1 prospect, #11, and #19 prospects in Jays system. That's a good sign, overall I feel the price tags this deadline are cheaper than they should be. Hopefuly we can turn that into a bat for cheap as well.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) Is this the quietest the rumor mill involving the Sox you can ever remember, buying or selling? Certainly is more me We haven't been linked to one player and were just 27 hours away from the deadline. Incredible. Maybe in 05' when the only move we made was adding Geoff Blum. Either were working on something big, or not going to make a significant move. Reports of a rift in the FO makes me worry we don't know what direction to go at the deadline and that's why we're so quiet. -
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) His issue is that he is a terrible defender and has an even worse approach at the plate. If his issue looked like him trying to adjust to major league pitching as opposed to him hacking at every s***ty pitch thrown a foot off the plate I'd have hope. IMO he is never going to amount to more than a .270/.310/.400 guy at his best. I agree but most people at that age have the same issues but get the time to iron them out in the Minors. Avi hasn't had that opportunityand that says something about his talent and potential. He has to learn on the fly in the bigs not easy to do. But I still think he's doing well enough, he's batting .250-.270 I'll take that in his first full year. The defense bothers me more than the ugly swings. But all that can be fixed through playing or a stint in the minors. Trading him at this point is not, but that's just my opinion.
