  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) Same. Much like what AJ brought to this team. I'm on this side of things. I'm sick of watching the same old White Sox team show up flat and act like they don't care. I want a guy who loves playing baseball and is a hard a** about it. We need to play every game with our hair on fire I, hopefully this guys attitude is contagious. As long as he isn't shooting guns, beating people, or getting DUIs I'm fine with a guy who is cocky and hard edge in the clubhouse and more importantly on the field.
  2. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) I am in the minority (not sure why) it seems like that wants this deal to happen. I have felt Lawrie be a fit for this team before he got traded last year to the A's. Losing hope that it will actually happen now, considering it leaked overnight/early this morning and still nothing official I wouldn't be too worried I'm sure we have a lot going on along with the A's I'm pretty sure the deal is already done and the sox are just waiting to announce it while they work a few other avenues.
  3. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) #Cubs are eyeing Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, but his injury history is a concern, writes @MLBBruceLevine: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/12/09/lev...n-their-sights/ I'm sure they are looking elsewhere after it's been said J Hey is probably going to end up with a 10-year deal. I don't get the j hey love, yes he's an amazing OF but is an average hitter. Hits around .260-.280 with like 20 HRs and 80-100 RBIS. I mean we could use all those things consistently on the south side but to give this kid an absurd amount of $ for 10 years seems insane to me especially since your paying for a glove with the same hope people have had for years that his Offense improves.
  4. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) i remember thinking the same thing about Thome. i remember thinking the same thing about Dunn. i remember thinking the same thing about LaRoche. i'm sure if we get Upton, he'd have a career LOW year. These guy were all in the twilight of their careers for the most part. Not to mention were all strictly three outcome hitters (maybe with the exception of Thome) they either hit a HR, SO, or BB. They relied on power whereas Upton is a contact hitter with pop who would benefit from a hitters park who not only scores and drives in runs but is only 26.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) Heck no to trading Cargo. Give me Upton I concur. Upton may be the steal of the offseason. Him playing in the cell would do wonders for his power numbers, plus adding him and Brett Lao- Wre at 26 a piece goes into the plan of building a young core of young talent.
  6. The questions is if you had your choice if we do land Lawrie would you rather Sign Upton, Sign Cespedes, Sign Gordon, or trade for Cargo? (Not going to include J Hey cause there is no chance) Personally I would be ecstatic if we traded for Lawrie to play 2B, sign the Japenese 3B, and sign J up. Although my ultimate pipe dream is landing Puig.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) To be fair, almost no teams have been mentioned with the big bats. Amazing how quiet it's been with Cespedes and Upton. It's been reported Cespedes market isn't what people thought going in and I have heard he won't get anywhere near the money he was asking for during the season.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Everyone seems to be waiting on the Cardinals I don't buy the O's at all its a leverage game with them, basically telling Boras accept or turn down our 7-$150 for Davis or we are "pivoting" to our next guy.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) That's definitely a possibility too. Something like what the cubs did last night with the Castro trade and Zobrist signing. And it just came out the Cubs were in on Miller and included Soler, so that leads you to believe the Cubs still have a few more chips on the table. I think they land a SP in a trade and then sign J Hey or Gordon. But I'm sick of seeing our cross town rivals execute a plan correctly, and they've hit on their plan for a few years. It's time for the Sox to collect a few hits, and I think Lawrie is an excellent start. He is 26 and at one point was being talked about as a future superstar before a few injury setbacks. I think he would be a steal for this team and not only would bring better D and O but would be a guy that wouldn't let this team be flat or go through the motions throughout a season. He'll light a fire for this team
  10. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) Am I the only person that thinks if you trade one pitcher you should try and move both of them? If we are blowing it up yes I am on board. But if we are trading Q for MLB ready talent that will help this year or next then I think you hold onto sale with the hopes the trade allows you to fill holes in the lineup. The only way I am trading both is if we are attempting to get young top prospects that take time to develope, which I don't trust this org doing anymore unfortunately.
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) Stll have the feeling there's more involved in the trade talks than just Lawrie. Then again, maybe it could be that both teams are looking into medicals? It just seems like a deal like this would be more simple and take less time. Medicals could be a hold up, Lawrie has had a history of injuries (although most were freak accidents; broken ankle sliding, broken hand being hit by a pitch, strained oblique after catching a ball and falling in the camera pit). But I really think we are choosing not to announce this yet because we are still working on the other pieces that fit together in this puzzle, well hopefully atleast.
  12. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:00 AM) Seriously the only other option is to gut the minor league system again to get better. The worst possible thing they could do here is stand pat or marginally upgrade 3B or another position. That doesn't put you in a better situation to win much more than last year. After seeing what Atlanta got for Miller who's performance is comparable to Quintana I would hope they're getting feelers on him. It is nearly impossible to improve on last year's team without gutting the minors or trading a starter. I hear ya and agree.
  13. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 29s30 seconds ago Virginia, USA Let me clarify from before: White Sox aren't trading Anderson or Quintana I know majority doesn't want to trade Q but we really have to trade from our depth in order to improve our position players. We just saw ATL fleece a desperate team, I hope we are atleast calling and listening to what teams would give for Q. I still don't know if this team completely knows or agrees with each other internally about what direction this teaM should be going in next year and the next.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) Maybe the Orioles going after Upton now puts some doubt into the plans? I haven't heard anything about Upton connecting with the sox for a few days. I hope we go after him but I think Hahn has a few things in the fire all kind of dependent on one another. Whether they are trades, FA acquisitions, etc. we heard late Monday they were meeting to discuss a series of moves and now I think he is trying to execute them. I doubt the O's end up with J Up I heard they offered Davis 6-$150 the other day. Now if he turns it down it shows they have the cash to throw at Upton, J Hey, or Cespedes. I hope we end up with 1 of the 3 but in order to we have to improve well enough through trades and such to warrant spending that money on an OF. Not to mention we would probably have to trade one of them or Laroach in order for it to make sense.
  15. I see this impediment more as a sign the follow up moves to this are either falling through or not as progressing as fast as they anticipated when this leaked late last night. I think we see a few moves quickly. And I still think this is part of the plan Sox just don't want to announce it yet. And we aren't giving up Trayce for him either
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) RE: Character concerns. He's intense but Lawrie is fine in the clubhouse. Buehrle gave a solid endorsement and that's good enough for many. That's good to hear. Are you hearing any other rumors out there? Is this only the first domino to fall? And are they really looking at J Up?
  17. Personally I like having a guy Like Lawrie on this team. Someone who plays with an edge, douche or not it's a good improvement in a hard position to upgrade. He reminds me a lot of AJP atleast with the rep he gets. Also wouldn't be surprised if we give them a bullpen arm, Suzy reported earlier on that the As we're looking for SP and l/or bullpen help.
  18. I'd be okay with it cause it's obvious he needs work, but I think it's a confidence thing. I say let him stay but put him in the bullpen or go with six starters now that shuck is hurt. I think sending him to triple a would set his development back further mentally.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:05 AM) I agree. The Sox are just going to draft a college pitcher who will turn into a reliever probably. This Sox team keeps creeping to .500 then goes in the tank. That's just wrong. This team is so close to contention it's disappointing to me every time they lose. Preach Greg and I agree
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) @scottmerkin White Sox officially are standing pat. This team has developed a sort of why not us mentality so it fits Wow... I guess we'll see how that mentality holds ups this weekend against the 1st place Yankees.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) It's not just about having the amo or making a move to make a move. The Sox knew how slim their playoff chances were this year and they weren't willing to give up any assets for a rental. It makes complete sense. If they determined we had slim chances they should have used their best barging chip in Shark
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Didn't they get everyone they wanted this past offseason besides VMart? Maybe that we know of.
  23. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) #Mets gave up Fulmer and Cessa for Cespedes #Tigers https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/627207893151023104 Funny thing is mets were trying to keep fulmer and trade wheeler instead. Whatever sick of losing out on guys, whether we had the ammo or not it's just disappointing.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) So our lone acquisition is...Justin Sellers? Which I broke here thank you very much.
  25. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Welp get ready for the Rick Hahn we tried speech. Cant wait for another one of those. Hey at least he's consistent
