QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) Jeff Passan Sources: David Price to Toronto is imminent. Wow what a trade deadline for Toronto. Arguably got the best impact bat and pitcher available. They emptied their system but they are going for it. Hopefuly the Yanks start to suck cause I think with the moves Tor has made it'll be hard to beat them out for the W.C. especially if we stand pat. Lots of kudos to them for making the deals.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) Hopefully it's not a rental and we can ship Avi off instead of high end prospects. I really hope we don't give up Avi right now, I really think the kid is going to be good. And I really doubt the FO trades him they are really high on him as they should be. We just knit pick too much, and it's unfair to Avi at 23-24 in his first full year. There will be growing pains.

QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) Definitely, super encouraging. Hopefully one of the Carloses. Or Puig lol! I know not going to happen but he's definitely who I want.

LA is going to be desperate if they miss out on Price and Hamels. But I give them credit in not wanting to give up Urias.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) Bob Nightengale @BNightengale 1m1 minute ago Bob Nightengale retweeted Chuck Garfien The #Whitesox now plan to be buyers, looking for a bat Nightengale, usually well connected to the Sox, confirms report that they are buyers now. Very true Nightengale is one guy that reports truth, he's one of the few that doesn't try to get the scoop but rather get it right. He's usaully always has a scoop for the sox and usually pretty accurate

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) I like the thinking to get someone on the cheap...but his OPS is a miserly .713 and his D is pretty bad these days. I saw a suggestion for a flip of Ethier + cash for Danks. Same kind of deal (Ethier having a better year, but been bad since June). I would be okay with a Danks and Either/Crawford swap. Do you think Boston is looking to get rid of Panda or Hanley and if so any interest?

Does Toronto even have the Ammo left to land Price?

QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) San Diego looking to save some money. Kemp plus cash (LAD paying 3+ per year) SD pays additional 8 mill in 2017 and 18 and takes Danks. Danks due 15 million plus next year makes up difference for rest of this year and 2016. Danks could succeed in that ball park. Kemp doesn't really have split differential plays right. Avi platoons at dh with La Roche. Johnson comes up from AAA to take Danks spot. We don't lose any prospects and last years of Kemp may not be pretty but if our cost is 10 per not bad. Last couple years could even be lh dh after LaRoche gone Kemp worries me, a lot. Not sure I would be willing to give up anything other than C prospects and someone like Danks to clear money. SD is going to clear payrll by including either upton or kemp to a SP so we could add Kennedy and kemp for s decent package but I don't know if I want him.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) yes Then I'm not sure I want him, cost a lot and wold be hard to resign.

Is Cespedes a Free Agen my after this season?

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) He might, but I think Gomez would get along great with Melky and the rest of the Latin players on the team. They all do those silly shenanigans, and I think Gomez would enjoy it here. I agree I think he'd gel perfectly between melk and him doing their signs back to the dugout on first after a hit we'd probably get in a fight with the other team. Gomez no doubt brings an attitude on the diamond and I always wanted my team to have that. And at the very least he's gaurenteed to rob atleast one HR the rest of the way. The only thing adding another bat is it stunts the growth of one of our younger guys. Whether it's in the INF or outfield, Avi or Sanchez or Tyler would be replaced and sit more. I worry what that would do to Avi even if he was playing the field for guys to get a day off or platooning with Laroche. That's why I don't think we add anything other than a bench piece. The FO is afraid to rock the boat with the way we've been playing.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) Even Phil Rogers think Morosi has it backwards. I'm not saying Rogers knows it all but at least he understands this team. @philgrogers: @jonmorosi says White Sox could add a rental SP. Bigger need is best bat available (Cespedes?) Their DHs are last in AL w/.680 OPS, 35 RBIs. I truly believe we need to persue a three way deal, and get in on the Price deal between DET and LA. The two most impactful bats are on those teams with Puig and Cespedes. Unfortuantely I think that is the only shot we would have in landing either one, unless LA unloads a boat load of prospects to land Price and wants to re supply a bit and send Puig to us to replenish their system. Other than Puig, Cespedes, and the two CarGos whose available? I think Boston would be willing but what would interest you guys. I know I would love to steal Yoan Moncada but there's no way they would deal him.
-
Hey I'm good with either Car go if the price is right, Gomez though I think would be a better fit only because he is a dirt bag kind of player. He always seems to be in the middle of things like AJP used to be. The way he plays defense, has speed, and griderisms, plus the fact he plays with a razor sharp edge I would like him on this team. Ultimately I think Gonzalez is the better player but Gomez plays harder and would add more gas to a team on fire right now. If the price is right then I'm good with either guy in reality.
-
Watching MLB network and they just talked to Morisi who said he thinks we are buyers, obviously but what is interesting is he thinks we buy another SP. The names he mentioned were Ian Kennedy from SD or Mike Leake from Cincy. No mention of a bat at all.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) The Sox could care less about what fans are thinking about trade rumors, as well they should. I agree only selfishly I want to know, I just hope the lack of info isn't related to a lack of activity on our end. I guess I'm just hoping for some excitement from us before 3PM Friday.
-
Man at this point I wouldn't mind having a Guillen running his mouth so at least we had a smidge of an idea about what the brain trust is thinking about the approaching deadline. This board needs it, just something to signal what our plans may be or a name we are looking into. Right now it's nothing but crickets, and our waste of space beat writers haven't had a scoop in years. For selfish reasons I really wish someone would slip and tell us what the thinking is.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) i'm not a fan of trading Avi. To me, he's the kind of potential guy you keep in the long term plans. Granted, LaRoche will be very tough to move without the Sox taking salary in return or eating some of it themselves. I agree, it's crazy to me how many people are down and willing to throw Avi away. The dude is 24 years old, and even with stinking it up for. Month is still batting .260. No idea why we would give up on someone with his talent at that age. I guess it's normal round here though we are always tough on players but giving up Avi now is a major mistake.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:33 PM) If you're going to trade for Puig (or anyone) you can't do it on prospects alone. That would clean out our system. And in case people haven't noticed, this team is under .500. Puig makes us, what , a little above? You'd have to throw Shark in there. Something to temper the prospect toll. And if for Puig, Avi as well. Better yet, Quintana, so wait until the offseason. Cargo - outrageous contract, he doesn't hit lefties well, inflated Coors field numbers. If you want a hitter, I'd get Bruce. Ks are bad, but his splits are fine, and you may get him at a reasonable price. Do a 3-way using Shark, and take your chances on Erik Johnson. Prospects alone you're right wouldn't land Puig we would have to work a three way out to get LA a pitcher and a combo of our prospects and theirs going to another team and us landing Puig. Same with Cespedes.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) You'd white flag a season when we're 2.5 GB of a playoff spot (2 in the loss column) and have by far the best pitching of any team we're competing with for that spot? Who are you going to sell off besides Samardzija? Is it worth giving up on this season just to get a couple B prospects? Only way I'd trade samardzija now is if it's for Puig or in a three way deal to Detroit for Cespedes. Otherwise I'm down with adding to this team with some prospects to land a bat but not subtract from the team by waving a white flag after the recent run. I reLly get the feeling we're not going to make a move at all by Friday, we're going to roll with this momentum. Worse comes to worse the team gels more, and we give Shark a QO and take the pick of he walks. If we add it needs to be impactful

Is it odd that there is nothing out there about what our plans may be? Is it a sign that we don't know what to do becUse the fact that there really is a lot of supposed friction in the FO? Or is it how Hahn does it when negotiating? Or do you all think they stand pat and let these guys play out the season? Even the normal inside guys on here are quiet. Just odd to me I guess with two days left.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) To recap: #Rangers to acquire Cole Hamels for OF Nick Williams, C Jorge Alfaro, RHP Jerad Eickhoff, and at least 1 more player. @FOXSports https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/626577500215193601 Really not sure about ranger prospects but that doesn't seem like a lot to me. I have a feeling a lot of dominos are going to fall after Hamels goes.

Man after watching this offense the past week I really really want another bat. Would love to get Puig from LA if we could work out a way in to a Price deal with them and Detroit to get him. Probably no chance but Please give us Puig, or another bat Rick or I guess KW these days.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) If it means we get Morse no thanks Lol I agree I'll pass on Morse

Well the Cubs player was only pulled to be called up to triple-a so much ado about nothing.
