  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) God f***ing damn. I wanted the Sox to sign him so badly. You're trolling right? Do you remember watching him play? The guy was garbage. Essentially a carbon copy of Avisail Garcia. A couple good years against what is the equivalent of low level MiLB is not going to change that.
  2. This contract is the 2nd highest AAV for a position player in the history of the game. How anybody can justify that for a guy that has been roughly a 3 fWAR player for all but one year of his career is beyond me. If he is worth that than it is impossible for Mike Trout to get a fair contract.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) Yeah, right, it's Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. This is where they start their 5-1 stretch to end the season, win the North and break the Lions' hearts again. Yeah that division is far from being settled. Lions have @NO, CHI, @NYG, @DAL, GB left on their schedule and the Vikings have DAL, @JAX, IND, @GB, CHI. I could easily see the Lions losing 4 of those games and the Vikings losing 3 in which the Packers would need to just go 3-2 the rest of the season to win the division with a sparkling 8-8 record. GB would hold the head to head tiebreaker over Detroit and the division record tiebreaker over Minnesota.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I definitely wouldn't mind taking on a bigger contract in a Sale trade if more prospects were coming back as a result at the same time. Well of course you wouldn't, you don't have to sign the paychecks.
  5. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) If you enjoy hip hop/rap, and are worried/fearful about a Trump presidency, Macklemore put out another socially important song. Well that was every bit as horrible as I expected it to be.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) You do realize that when you pitch 60 innings, getting lit up 4 times is like a starter getting lit up every 2nd or 3rd start right? That's really not good? Total false equivalence.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) I know someone will throw some money at him and all, but I have no idea how you call him a comeback candidate. He has been the same pitcher for 5 full seasons now. Who knows what a half year off could do for him though. I wouldn't expect any more than he gave the last 2-3 years but he would be worth some team taking a flyer on with a low guaranteed money, incentive based contract.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) That is where Indiana's tax laws are dreamy. Your primary residence is limited to 1% cap on property taxes. That $600k house can never cost you more than $6k in a year. If it is your second house, it can't be more than 3%. That would be nice. We pay about $23 for every $1000 assessed value here.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) I must look at things differently, I view middle class as being 75-125K. Lower mid of 50-75K and upper mid of like $125-$200K (might even go higher). But again, I might have the same issue as Sqwert as the median home in the county I live in is $661K. Two teachers teaching in the district I live in (with a masters) are getting somewhere between $140-$160 (obviously this is a dual income) per year. Yea it definitely varies significantly based on location. Where I'm at if your household is pulling $75-$125k you're living on easy street. $600k would get you a big beautiful home with 40 acres of land.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Really? That seems really low. Like minimum wage low. In my area of rural southwest Wisconsin many of the communities have median household incomes in the $30,000's range. Someone with a household income in the $50,000's is doing fairly well. Of course where I live you can buy a very nice home for under $150,000. I live in a typical 1100 square foot single story ranch that is in good shape and fairly well updated and I paid $106,000 five years ago.
  11. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) I like the rate drop, but trading exemptions for child care credits I won't use sucks. You like rate drops that overwhelmingly benefit the rich and hurt the poor and middle class?
  12. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Agreed. If Sale is on the roster opening day for us, Rick and Kenny have (yet again) failed miserably. Or that their price wasn't met. Don't trade Sale just to trade him.
  13. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) Isn't that was the Minnesota goalie had? Or was it something else? Yep. Josh Harding. Some people it doesn't effect too badly, others it is horrible. My uncle had it for 15ish years before he could not longer stand the pain and took his own life.
  14. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Frazier just isn't very good. His power numbers are great, but his performance relative to his power numbers is poor. He's averaged 3.8 fWAR per 162 games played for his career. Even in a down year like last year he managed 2.4 fWAR, which is above average. He also had a unsustainable .236 BABIP last year that hurt him. Guys that can play solid defense at 3rd and hit 40 home runs don't grow on trees. Frazier definitely has value.
  15. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Ah yes, unity and partnership and compromise and all that. The great liberal talking point until someone else wins that doesn't think like me. I'm not happy at all that Trump won and i'm quite confident we're in for an...interesting...4 years. But the liberal jump of the cliff response to this has been enjoyable. I've had friends on Facebook that in the last few hours have let out all of their pent up, hidden sexism, racism and homophobia out in defense of Trump. People I had know idea thought that way but apparently now that we have a President elect that thinks the same as they do it's now okay to show it. This isn't about somebody not thinking like me or not voting for my candidate (who was not Clinton) it's about people saying s*** that could set this country back 60 years. When I voted for Kerry, I didn't give two s***s that any of my friends voted for Bush. When I voted for Obama, I didn't give two s***s that my friends voted for McCain or Romney. Hell I don't care that some of my friends voted for Trump but when they justify that vote by repeating the racist, sexist, xenophobic s*** that he has said all campaign I'm sorry but my opinion of that friend has just changed. I'm not all that worried that Trump will destroy this country, there are enough checks and balances in place to prevent that, what I'm worried about is how so many people seem to think it's okay again to be openly racist, sexist and homophobic. It's downright scary that in 2016 there are still that many people out there that think that way.
  16. Our country has just elected a racist, sexist, homophobic and xenophobic reality tv star as the next president of the United States. Over night the greatest, most powerful nation in the world has become a laughing stock. To anyone out there that is anything other than a straight, white, able bodied, non immigrant, Christian male, my heart goes out to you. This could be a tough 4 years for you.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) Thank u. These people applied to be president?? What's the point? Insane. What's the point in writing in your vote if it's not going to be counted? Is that also not insane? Writing in John Kasich or Jesse Ventura is the equivalent of writing in Greg775. It means nothing.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Any of those people conspiracy theorists? Just make it real simple First guy on the list, Andrew Basiago, is a complete nut job. Among his claims are that he is a time traveler that has traveled to the future and knows he is going to win an election someday and that Obama has visited Mars. Sounds like a great candidate for Greg.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) I'll probably have to leave it blank. Maybe vote for Kasisch. You are aware that in Kansas your write in vote will not even be counted if that person has not filed as an official "write in candidate" right? Here's a list of people that have officially filed with the state of Kansas. Andrew Basiago Darrell Castle Rocky De La Fuente Rocky Giordani James Hedges Tom Hoefling Lynn Kahn Gloria La Riva Michael S Levinson Michael A Maturen Evan McMullin Monica Moorehead Darryl Perry Marshall Schoenke Joe Schriner Mike Smith Ajay Sood Shawna Sterling Anthony Valdivia J.J. Vogel-Walcutt Demetra Jefferson Wysinger So if you really do want to try and make some sort of point by writing in I advise you to research those people and actually vote for one of them so your vote is at least counted.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) He resigned after 2005 for some reason and then came back as VP of baseball operations after 2006, where he was until 2011 when he left to take over the Cubs. He was only GM for 1 of their titles but he was there for 2 of them and had his fingerprints on the team that won the 3rd. That's not accurate. He kept his GM title until he left after 2011.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) When did theo leave the red sox? 2006? He only saw one ws while he was there correct? He won two with them. 2004 and 2007.
  22. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 12:12 AM) If I never again hear that Cubs "go" song - my life will be 1,000,000,000,000,000 times better. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 06:36 AM) The song doesn't even make sense - "hey Chicago what do you say the Cubs are going to win today." Didn't they already win when the song was sung and the entire city is t for the Northsiders. It always baffles me when I remember that Steve Goodman, who was an incredibly talented songwriter, wrote that song. How can someone write something as good as "City of New Orleans" and something as bad as "Go Cubs Go"?
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) 3? 4. 2 in the NLCS, 2 in the World Series. Almost unbelievable for a team of that caliber.
  24. Go Indians go, go Indians go. Hey chicago waddya say the tribe is gonna win today.
  25. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) MLBTR says Nats aren't likely to give Ramos a QO. I call bs on that one. I don't think there's any chance they would. He'd accept it immediately and they would be on the hook for $17M to have him for maybe a little more than half the year. He's going to what a short term deal to try and rebuild his value and nobody is going to risk that much on a guy that you really don't know when he's going to come back and what he'll be when he does.
