30 Clubs in 30 Days
MLB Network Radio on XM/Sirius is doing a similar thing, broadcasting from each team's ST complex and dissecting the team in great detail. Interviews with players, GM, manager, senior (i.e.: more publicly accessible) scouts, etc.... Listened to the Giants one today, good stuff. Don't know if it is on the same schedule as the TV version, though.

Sox sign Kosuke Fukudome
Platoon partner for Viciedo or backup in case Viciedo can't hit or if Rios doesn't bounce back. Good signing for 500k. *shrug* Unless he drops a 1000 OPS on KW, that 3.5m option ain't getting picked up.

Carlos Quentin traded to Padres
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) The Angels won their World Championship the year before Moreno took over. I think he would trade the last decade of White Sox baseball for his own period of ownership in LA because of that...one elusive trophy he's missing, despite all his business and marketing success. The McCourt Fiasco has been a gift for his franchise, any owner of another franchise in the same market would look like Mother Teresa or Lady Diana compared to that kooky duo. And the fallout over MannyLand collapsing in a heap of rubbish, along with Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre, didn't help matters any. Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre combined aren't half as embarassing as the Jason Schmidt signing. http://kosmo.hubpages.com/hub/Ten-Worst-Dodger-Bums The Dodgers have produced a number of quality players out of the draft, but seemingly always swing-and-miss when it comes to big ticket free agents. How much $$ did they throw at Juan Uribe and Jon Garland last season? This season its the same story. Bad players, garanteed MLB contracts. They also, similar to KennyGM, have a hankering for high salary deals with well-past-their-prime veterans like Garret Anderson, Luis Gonzalez, Elmer Dessens, etc. A Dodgers web site similar to this one once completed a 25-man roster of "mistake" FA signings of the past 10 years. There were no stretches or "well, maybe..." players on the list either. For s***s and giggles, I am gonna have to go dig that up. Always good for a laugh or two and puts our GM's "misses" into perspective.

Rosenthal: "Danks will go"
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 7, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) I think he wears bow ties for charity. From a SouthSideSox post, quoting Rosenthal: http://www.southsidesox.com/2012/1/5/26837...zy-trade-rumors

2012 Cubs thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Padres gave up on Rizzo quick. Its very amusing to me when GMs/scouts switch jobs, then just start signing & trading for all the players from their old team. If KennyGM gets fired and finds another GM job, which Sox prospects will he trade for???

Braun tests postitive for PEDs
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) I believe you've read the exact opposite of the ESPN article's statement. The second test confirmed the results of the initial survey test and was done by an outside lab upon the request of the player. MLB Hasn't come out and said "He's suspended" because he has some sort of in the background right to appeal, and MLB isn't going to push that during the offseason. But let's be clear, this is a completely confirmed positive test. Ryan Braun had illegal substances in his system. I was speaking to this specific quote (in the ESPN article): http://mlb.sbnation.com/2011/12/10/2627123...test/in/2391077 If he was in fact taking a PED, the video on the ESPN article is pretty hilarious (calling out A-Rod, etc) http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/733...-enhancing-drug

Braun tests postitive for PEDs
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) They are saying they found increased levels of testosterone which is believed to be synthetic. Not sure if drinking a protein shake can cause that. On the other hand, Braun found out in late October and has taken a drug test right after which came back clean? Right. A second test was negative. Which is why MLB isn't coming right out and saying "Ryan Braun tested positive for XYZ and has been suspended 50 games..." Apparently there is a reason for the positive test that is perfectly explainable - hence the second negative test. I'll have to check my twitter feed. Hour ago or so it popped up.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Thanks. Dont forget the "...and I get that" he throws in after each point. "Mark Buehrle is a great pitcher. I get that. John Danks is a big part of what the rotation will do next year. I get that. But they might both be elsewhere next season. I get that."

The morning after poll
Man, for a minute there I thought the thread was going to be about the Whitesox/baseball equivelent to a "morning after PILL" which would be cool, cuz then, ya know, I could go back to not hating baseball anymore.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
probably only cost the Sox a few hundred thousand a year.

I have Officially Conceded the Season is Over
Did Adam Dunn strike out in his last AB of the season? I believe his first AB of the season was a K, too. What a way to bookend a miserable season.

AFL thread
Can the Sox send Adam Dunn?

Ozzie Guillen Appreciation Thread
No, no you do not. Sucks I can't use this awesome tag any more...
-
Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract
And to think... just lastnight I handed Ozzie a 3 year, 18mm extension on my The Show 2011 franchise. Sandy Almoar has like -15 ratings for pretty much everything... *sigh*

Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract
Maybe Omar Vizquel can manage the last few games.

Mark Buehrle appreciation thread?
If I had money, I'd buy Mark Buehrle one of these to match his ridiculous truck. Thanks for everything, Mark. *tear*

Cooper and/or Ozzie status could affect MB coming back next year
crap, I just realized I posted this in the wrong thread. OMG. Fail.

Viciedo shows off more tools
This whole thread reminds me of an old Heckler article (which I cannot find) about Felix Pie using his five tools to fix Dusty Baker's kitchen sink. It was pure comedic genius.

Worst full time players of last 50 years.
Its amazing to me, thinking of all of the players in recent memory that were just awful for the Sox. Andy Gonzalez, Luis Terrero, Gustavo Molina, Wilson Betemit..... etc. And Adam Dunn is STILL worse than them. And makes $14m a year. What a joke. As oldsox pointed out, I completely forgot the Sox gave up their first round pick for Dunn. That makes it "that much" worse. UGH.

Transitioning to 2012
OUCH.
-
... it's about time
If Ozzie is sabotaging the season to make KW look bad by refusing to sit big salary players that arent performing, wouldn't benching half of the "all in" contracts also make KW look bad? Regardless of the outcome (leave the "veterans" in the lineup to figure things out - or - bench the veterans and play the "kids") KW was going to look bad - Simply because the Sox have not completely torn through the AL Central and win 11 playoff games. When you market your team on a "we spent a bunch of money for these expensive players, so come watch them play" and they suck, the GM is going to look bad, no matter how the manager handles the situation. I am not saying Ozzie did or did not sabatoge anything.... I am simply stating that the only positive outcome for Kenny Williams was that the Sox DECIDEDLY win the ALC and perform well in the playoffs as well. Ozzie on the other hand, at least has plausible deniability - in that the Sox are still over 500 and 5 games back in the division - WITH those awful players still on the active roster. *shrug* Whatever.

Thome accepts trade back to Cleveland
on the bright side, Indians fans didn't get to enjoy his 500th or 600th HR
