  1. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 05:11 AM) Didn't they have a hotsot SS propect a few years back that was supposed to set MLB on fire. I think his name was Liu or something along those lines. Just goes to show how many of those "can't miss" propspects actually miss. Is that Philly OF playing this year, Brown? Who would've though Juan Pierre would be playing OF and hitting over .300 and Brown is yet to be heard from. Then you have guys like Quintana and Nate Jones come out of nowhere and have big time success. Maybe you mean Chin-lung Hu? He absolutely raked in the minors and after getting called up, proceeded to suck. He wasn't very good. Ended up on the Mets (and I think the Cubs) and is now meddling in independent baseball somewhere. In other Dodgers minor league news, Josh Fields is tearing up the PCL to the tune of 346/412/515 (including a .442 BA in his last 10 games). http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?p...&pid=435222 With the Dodgers woes at 3B, Josh has to be wondering what else he needs to do to get the call. They've been nearly as bad as the White Sox pre-Youkilis production at 3B.
  2. So much for MLBTradeRumors "if its whispered, we hear it" after a radio report and 6 pages of comments here. If the Rays fall out of contention by the deadline, I wonder what James Shields' price tag will be?
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Who would pay for this guy? I bet the Dodgers stop payment before JR gets the check to the bank. Either that or the Dodgers are endorsing an MF Global check over to the Sox. The Dodgers have no AAA SS. When Dee Gordon hit the DL, they called up the last player at AAA resembling a serviceable infielder. They will likely release him as soon as Gordon is back (which could be a while).
  4. I used to read Cowley's articles until I realized they were more of quote mashups more than anything else. Any reporter with a clubhouse credential can assemble some quotes and make pointed (and sometimes baseless) remarks about coaches.
  5. Lets review the evidence, shall we: He has been the cornerstone of the White Sox roster for seven seasons. He is one of the top-5 offensive catchers in all of the game and has been for seven seasons (seriously, find me five better catchers for seven straight seasons 2005-2012) He is the thorn in the side of every opposing team the Sox face, year in, year out. Face it, he makes s*** happen. He has (statistically proven fact, check fangraphs) been one of the best "game callers" and "staff handlers" in all of the game for the better part of a decade. AJP is not an All-star. He is a world champion... and a badass muthaf***a. If we are so honored as Sox fans to vote for AJP in the final vote, let's make it happen.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 11:18 AM) Septimo? Sounds like an extra from the movie Gladiator. nickname possibilities are high, don't disappoint If he turns out to be bad, may the Septic System nicknames flow. (did you see what I did there?)
  7. With our long man now in the rotation, dont we need someone for potential multiple innings? Who maintains that role now? Why am I referring to Chicago's American League Major League Baseball Franchise club as "we"? I certainly don't play for them. Also, why was the sentence mostly capitol case? Maybe I should try camelCase instead.
  8. I wonder if Lillibridge has been traded, why the Red Sox would want him. Don't they already have about 6 MLB-level Of'ers with a few more on the DL?
  9. Man, the White Sox clubhouse boy is going to be pissed. Gonna have to get more towels for the sweatiest man in baseball. Also, I hope we fans can stop b****ing about our GM. He is actually trying to improve the team.
  10. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2012/06/19/rangers...-on-air-moment/ WOAH. Something tells me Hawk ain't far off from something like this.
  11. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) I was streaming John Rooney and synced it up with the game for awhile. Listening to him is such a breath of fresh air compared to DJ and Farmer. It'll be great listening to Vin Scully over the weekend. Agreed 100%. I live in SC and listen on XM. Was nice to catch Rooney calling a Sox game. Its also pretty cool to watch SOx games on MLB.tc/AppleTV and having the option to NOT listen to Hawk.
  12. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) I hate people who think JR is cheap. When all he has done is proved over and over again that he is not. I thought it was pretty clear that I wasn't being serious.
  13. Uncle Jerry will probably demand that Chris Sale be shut down so he won't pitch the last month of the season and not win the Cy Young, so they won't have to pay him like a Cy Young award winner.
  14. So the Sox drafted their Konerko/Dunn replacements for 2015?
  15. Man... poor guy has had 3 or 4 serious and painful injuries. Not just "shoot, I can't play through this one" but more of "shoot, i cant lift a fork to feed myself" or "shoot, i can't walk to the can to relieve myself."
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ May 22, 2012 -> 11:25 PM) I couldn't understand what the f*** he was saying, I needed to play it in slow motion or something Being a Dodgers fan as well as a Sox fan... I can tell you that Dodgers fans called O-Dog 'SloDog" and couldn't wait for him to leave. *shrug*
  17. Seemingly the best of the lot (from all of the offseason movement) so far has been Jose Quintana. When the Sox signed him, Yankee fans weren't too thrilled. His scouting report and game log at A+ read like a top prospect. Leftie with command of 3 pitches. *shrug*
  18. The White Sox rotation is going to be brutal next year. John Danks Gavin Floyd (if he isn't traded) Phil Humber ?? ??? Ugh. At least Joe Mauer wont get any hits off the Sox after the seventh inning.
  19. Viciedo will be fine. He has been geting better as the season moves along. He was never an "A Prospect" and no scouting report had him being anything more than a 260 hitter with ceiling for 25 HR power. As far as I can tell, that seems about right for him. Also, Daniel Hudson has been getting shelled this season.
  20. Oh great. A 3-run lead. So we will get to see our LOOGY closer.
  21. Completely unrelated to the Sox game... was flipping between Sox game and Dodgers game on MLB.tv and Dodgers announcers comparing Matt Kemp to Frank Thomas. "I've never seen so many Unintential intentional walks in RBI spots than Frank Thomas."
