So are we past the 7th round yet or has the locked draft pick list just not been updated in a while?

Draft strategy question
I can't find anything that says defin.itively whether or not there are penalties for going over slot on an individual pick. I do know there are penalties for going over your total allotment for the draft

Just had an initial phone screen today. Seems promising, but trying not to get my hopes up too much. If this comes through I could become knightini's neighbor.

This is the plan: Sox are stockpiling every single left-handed pitcher. Then, all the good left-handed hitters will flock to them so that they'll never have to face all those pitchers. Profit.

Clearly they think they are going to need to sign their #3 draft pick underslot to be able to pay for the first two.

Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
I'm not the least bit in favor of "underdrafting" with the 3rd round pick. First of all, Rodon doesn't need to be offered a dime over slot. He has no leverage, and the Sox can pretty much assure him he will hit the active roster no later than September 1. Sox can go 5% over their total allotment without losing future picks. That means they can offer Adams money 10-12 slots higher than where they drafted him without having to go underslot on other picks. Don't waste the third round pick. I'm fine with taking a guy who has 3rd-4th round talent that they are certain will sign for slot or slightly under, but I'm not fine with taking a guy who has 10th-12th round talent and offering him $100K.

In the first three rounds, if you offer at least 90% of slot value to a pick and he doesn't sign, you get an extra pick in next year's draft to make up for it. If the Sox only offer their 3rd round pick $100K and he doesn't sign, they will not get an extra pick next year to make up for it.

I'm not greedy--I'll settle for them being only minus-25 over their next 17 games.

Seems like a good time to bump this up. Perhaps Rodon is on the Knights in late July?- The Glut in the Infield
1) Determine which guy you think is most likely to be a major league SS and play him at SS 2) Of the guys left, determine which guy you think is most likely to be a major league 2B and play him at 2B 3) Of the guys left, determine which guy you think is most likely to be a major league 3B and play him at 3B Leftover guys can DH or OF.- Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
I won't complain if Rodon is a bust. I will complain if the Sox don't sign him, or if they go over slot to sign him.- Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread

Sure, if you hate money, that's a great way to get yourself onto team 6.- Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
It seems to me that with the new slot system, leaking word that you are looking for a big payday is a surefire way to slide right down the draft board. It's not like you can demand #1 money at the #5 pick anymore. The best way to get drafted as high as possible is to make yourself seem as signable as possible.- Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
No, you did account for scenarios where he was already picked. It's 60% he goes 1, 20% he goes 2, 10% he goes 3, and 10% he's still available at 4. Unless there is a pick zero that I'm not aware of. - CHA @ LOU July 25-28
