  1. I'm surprised they let Tretiak go all the way to the cauldron. I figured they'd pull him 1/3 of the way there.
  2. When did Olympic Opening Ceremonies start getting so obnoxious? I don't remember this kind of crap in Salt Lake City or Atlanta.

  4. Well, what I'm thinking of is a large-scale effort to get people to vote 3rd party in the 2014 Congressional elections. In 2012, third parties got 3.6% of the vote. If an organized effort got that total up into the 10-15% range, would that be enough to make the big parties take notice? There are an awful lot of safe districts where people could vote for 3rd party candidates as a statement of dissastisfaction with the current system without having a chance at affecting the outcome.
  5. I understand that actually electing third party candidates is almost impossible, but how much of the vote would they need to get to start having an influence on the two major parties?
  6. Maybe they're just sending a subtle message that Australia isn't a real continent.
  7. http://www.mlb.com/cws/ticketing/march_to_opening_day.jsp Hey, if you're rich enough to plop down the money for 20+ tickets in February, we have free stuff for you! If you have to save up to take a family of four to a game or two, well then f*** YOU!
  8. 7 above here, but thankfully very little wind so the windchill is still above zero.
  9. If you just include the 13 NFLN Thursday night games, no team appeared more than once. If you add in the two NBC Thursday night games, DEN and BAL each appeared twice. SD did end up on NFLN twice, but one of those was a Sunday afternoon game that got pushed back to Sunday night and moved from CBS to NFLN because of baseball playoffs in Oakland.
  10. When did the Winter X Games merge with the Olympics? This snowboarding stuff is cool, but does it really merit Olympic medals?
  11. NBC has 3 announcing teams listed: Emrick/Olczyk, Strader/McGuire, K. Albert/Engblom. I would guess that the #1 team has all US games and the gold medal game. As a side note, Doc Emrick was a college classmate of both my parents. My father and Doc played together on softball teams.
  12. US Men's hockey games are all at 7:30 am, and they aren't getting re-aired in prime time.
  13. USA runs 30+ episodes a week, so any episode she really likes will be back on within a couple months.
  14. Yeah, I saw that. I'm not a fan of Thursday games. I really never watch more than a few minutes unless the Bears or Colts are playing.
  15. I deleted half of my wife's 50+ episodes of SVU from the DVR in order to make room for curling. It would be nice to be able to continue reading/posting in this thread without rendering that effort futile.
  16. Hockey games, at least the US ones, are all airing live. A lot of other things, including most of the curling, is not. I would say that spoiler tags are not necessary once an event is airing or has aired. If you are DVRing something and want to watch it later, then read at your own risk.
  17. Yes, while Indy would be the host city, you'd have stuff all over the state. Yachting on Lake Michigan. South Bend has a nice kayaking course. Soccer games in South Bend, W Lafayette, Muncie and Bloomington. Cycling in the southern part of the state. Not sure what, but maybe IMS could be used for something.
  18. Yeah, I'm aware that the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2018 and 2022 World Cups are already awarded, but I mean that by the time they award the next round of games, the US odds just got a lot higher.
  19. I think one benefit from the disaster that is the Sochi Olympics is that all three of the Winter Olympics, Summer Olympics, and World Cup will be returning to the US soon.
  20. The Opening Ceremonies are Friday, but in most Olympics there are a few preliminary events that start a day or two before the OC. I know in Summer Olympics there are always early soccer games.
  21. I bid $1 in an attempt to get the naming rights. I guess it wasn't enough.
  22. I've never been to that website, but I would venture to guess that the readership of that website is not at all representative of the general population of Christians.
  23. I have a neighbor who works for NBC. He turned down some pretty good money by not working this Olympics.
