Moving out of Lakeview is the biggest step in saving money.

My wife's comment on the above photo: "Hey, since when did I-94 expand to 7½ lanes?"
-
Where are you headed from/to? You could take I-80/94 to the Toll Road and then IN 39 up to New Buffalo to get back on I-94. That is, unless that wreck has eastbound I-94 backed up past the Toll Road exit.
-
Even if you're Green Bay, between road games and early season games, you play well over half your games in good weather conditions. You can't build a team that relies on having adverse weather to win and expect to be successful. Every team has to be able to win in good weather in order to reach the Super Bowl. Not every team has to be able to win in bad weather to reach the Super Bowl.

Do you have an exact location on that picture? I have a lot of friends in NWI and I'd like to post it on my FB page. EDIT: OK, according to INDOT, this is I-94 eastbound at MM 35, which is just east of the US 421 exit.

Not that amazing. First of all, you have to be both really, really good at defense and really, really bad at offense to accumulate a lot of plate appearances batting 9th. Otherwise your are either batting higher in the order or out of a job. Also, RBI is a worthless stat. However, Ozzie did have a career .285 AVG and .374 career SLG with RISP compared to his overall .264 AVG and .338 SLG so he did have that going for him.

God willing, after I retire my wife and I are going to have a year where we rent an RV, spend 6 weeks in Arizona for ST, and then go to a game in each of the Mountain and Pacific time zone ballparks, interspersed with seeing all the National Parks out west.

I can understand LaRussa. OAK and STL can both lay pretty much equal claim to him. Makes no sense with Maddux though. If the Cubs get half of Maddux then the Sox should get half of Fisk.

Also, laws don't exist in a vacuum--they have effects on us. If the drunk driving laws were any less strict than they already are, I would never drive anywhere after 9pm unless it was absolutely necessary. I know I'm not in the majority, but there are enough people like me to make a significant dent in the profits of businesses that operate that late. I already go to the local casino poker room less frequently than I would otherwise (which may be a good thing) because the last 10 miles of the trip there is on a 2-lane road that is notorious for drunk driving crashes.

Whiteout conditions in much of LaPorte County right now.
-
First of all, they aren't going to move the game for just anything. It's going to take a catastrophic event--heavy snow combined with enough wind to create whiteout/blizzard conditions. While weather forecasts 10 days out are not entirely reliable, we already know that there is an incredibly small chance of this happening. Secondly, they have to be pretty certain that the day they are moving it to is going to be significantly better. Also, as for permanently moving the game to any day other than Sunday--that is never ever going to happen. TV ratings are the reason. Now, since we long ago gave up having the holiday for Washington's Birthday on his actual birthday, I see no reason why we couldn't move the holiday a bit farther from his birthday and have it on the first Monday in February instead of the third Monday.

My cousin is a state cop. I've had him give me breathalyzers after I've had a good night of drinking (but not driving) just to see what I would register. The two times we did it I blew .06 and .09 and in both cases I did not feel even close to being able to drive. Are there people who drink frequently and can build up a tolerance to the point that .08, or even .10 does not severely impair their ability to drive? Yes. But don't even try to argue that everybody, or even most people, are OK to drive at .08.

Most of us on here don't really think about Super Bowl scheduling because we watch football regularly and are going to watch the Super Bowl whenever it is played. However, don't forget that the Super Bowl has 2-3 times the number of viewers as an average NFL game. There are a lot of people who never watch a single game the rest of the year who watch the Super Bowl. At least some of those people aren't tuning in if it's on a Saturday. There are other things going on Saturday. Even if you scheduled it a year in advance, a Saturday Super Bowl does not get nearly the ratings of a Sunday Super Bowl, and advertising rates would have to be adjusted accordingly.
-
Probably not to the advertisers who shelled out millions for commercials that they are expecting to air on Sunday.

When you drive drunk, whether or not there is a victim is more a matter of luck and less a matter of the decision-making by the drunk driver. 80% or whatever of drunk drivers don't happen to have oncoming traffic at the moment they swerve into the other lane but the other 20% do. The problem with the "There is no victim" attitude is that we don't have harsh enough sentences when there aren't victims, thus there is little deterrent to driving drunk and thus we end up with lots of victims.

JB will not get the sentence he deserves because drunk driving sentences are way too light in general. First offense should be 30 days in jail and 6 months suspended license. Second offense should be a year in jail and 5 years suspended license. Third offense should be 10 years in jail and permanently suspended license. No exceptions.

Phegley definitely has options. I also think Flowers is out of them, but I'm not 100% on that.

All New Soccer Thread ~ All Levels ~ All Leagues
cabiness42 replied to Texsox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This is hardly the highest level of soccer, but still something I've never heard of before: CONCACAF Women's U-20 championship. Top 3 teams advance to World Championship. Third place game between Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago ends regulation time tied 3-3. Costa Rica scores 4 goals in extra time to win 7-3. -
So the dream has been shattered by the Evil Empire.

The negotiation window was pretty short, so saying that the posting fee was paid up front and then returned if there was no contract is more or less the same as saying that the posting fee didn't have to be paid unless there was a contract.
