There are a lot of alumni of Big 10, PAC 12 teams, along with ND and Vanderbilt, who do care about the academic performance of their teams. Fans of those teams, who never went through the toils of actually getting a degree from one of those schools, tend to care much less, though there are definitely exceptions. -
He's hired Bobby Pettrino away from Louisville?

An excellent statistical comparison of HOF voters who made their votes public compared to those who didn't. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=22531

Biggio is not the biggest loser in all of this. Yes, it sucks for him that he didn't get in this year, but he's a lock to get in, most likely next year. The guys who got f***ed by Biggio coming up two votes short are the guys who are going to get left off ballots next year because people have to vote for Biggio again. Guys like Raines and Piazza.

I've liked most of his moves so far, but still not on board with the Santiago trade.

I know when Golson got suspended, there was a second player involved and supposedly that player was Daniels, but he didn't get suspended then because it was his first offense and Golson's second. I would have thought Golson's suspension would be enough to scare Daniels straight, but maybe not. There are no easy academic paths at ND. You can't major in tomahawk chopping or painting with garnet and gold. ND is pretty deep at WR anyway, so he could just go away and I wouldn't miss him. I think the Admiral's kid is going to be the stud WR now that Jones is gone. -
Balta hogging all the points.

As long as the fire stays on that side of the river . . . -
Well, I think just about any interstate that carries as much truck traffic as 65 is already 3+ lanes in each direction, and when an interstate has 3+ lanes in each direction, semi trucks are not allowed in the left lane (at least that's the law in every state that I'm aware of). So it's more of a problem on 65 than anywhere else.

I can say definitively that ISU is my favorite Big 12 team in Iowa. -
Yellow x's is rather lacking in creativity as compared to entire words.

Getting 65 (and 70) expanded to 6 lanes is the next priority on the state's list. Getting the US 31 upgrade from SB to Indy and I-69 built from Evansville to Indy are nearing completion so hopefully the 65/70 work will get going in a couple years. I drive 65 between Louisville and Indy at least twice a month, so nobody is more aware of the need for the extra lane than me. Too many jackass semi drivers going 66 in the left lane passing semis going 65 in the right lane, backing everybody else up.

I get that there are often compelling reasons why someone picks up a team that they have no natural connection to. On the other hand, I know a guy whose favorite teams are the NY Yankees, the LA Lakers, the Dallas Cowboys, and Kentucky basketball. -
Would be a nice change from the ultra slow speed train that currently goes through your downtown.

I really liked most of the movies made from Grisham books.

Indiana is doing a great job at putting money into roads. Indy is having a hard time getting a local rail system going, but other than that, I like what Indiana is doing.
-
Yes, this needs to happen 100%. Amtrak is a joke, because an Indy-Chicago Amtrak trip is more costly and takes longer than driving. Start with lines from Chicago going to St. Louis, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Indy. Then extend those lines out to Kansas City, Minneapolis, and Cincinnati. Then start connecting some of the other cities to each other without having to go through Chicago.

IU meets every single one of those criteria: In the Big 10, my father rooted for them, they suck, and they are in my geographic region. -

Gruden is the new Redskins coach. Jay Gruden, that is.

First of all, in this day and age, how stupid do you have to be to leave electronic evidence of criminal activity? Secondly, I really hope that Christie is able to prove that he had no knowledge of this, because I think he is the nation's best chance at having a productive Federal government in 2017 and beyond.

I've ridden train systems in Chicago and DC extensively; and NYC, Dallas, Denver, and SF occasionally. In terms of coverage, NYC is by far #1. In terms of overall experience due to things like comfort, cleanliness, and convenience, DC is #1 and there isn't even a close second. The DC Metro system is amazing.
