  1. So it looks like we can definitely say that Peavy is 100% being traded or not traded to Saint Louis, Boston, Oakland, Atlanta, Arizona or Baltimore.

  3. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'd rather keep Peavy, and to a lesser extent Rios, rather than getting rid of them just for the sake of getting rid of them. Yes, shedding salary would be nice, but I don't know where the salary savings can be spent that's going to be as worthwhile as holding out for top level talent in return for trades. Play it down until 3pm on the 31st if necessary--I have a feeling some team out there will cave in on Peavy, and maybe Rios also. No reason to pull the trigger before the deadline unless somebody is offering the moon.
  4. Move the LF fence out 40 feet and keep stockpiling lefty starting pitchers.
  5. If you don't know the answer, guess C.
  6. Well then you need to start some threads in the trade rumor section. Maybe that will get things going.
  7. Unless a trade is done or very, very close within a couple hours of game time, Peavy will make his start.
  8. Sounds like he has short man syndrome, but anyway congrats on the nice drive. I hope you at least got the 2-putt birdie.
  9. I think I know the game plenty enough to trust the judgment of a professional coaching and training staff over some arrogant asshole on a message board. Anybody that second guesses professionals that much has to be so full of themselves that they can't see straight.
  10. Contrarian to anybody with a semblance of decency and/or knowledge about baseball.
  11. Bandwaggoner, switching over to the team with the better record . . .
  12. This is the most worthless offense I've ever seen, and yet we have trade rumor threads about FIVE of the starting position players. Who is going to want these pieces of garbage? Better get a lot for Peavy because I don't see anybody else fetching anything of value.
  13. How about posters who start trade rumor threads outside the trade rumor section?
  14. So we have Rios to thank for the Cubs making such a terrible deal? Good job, man!

  16. If the Sox think any team might be interested in Lilly, they should claim him first and then work out a trade.
  17. No, I wouldn't. I don't get the desperation to unload Soriano now. Would have made more sense 2 years ago when he had more years left on his deal.
  18. I got no such e-mail, but my answer would have been: This team needs position players who can get on base while batting, and keep the other team's players off base while fielding. It's been since 2006 that the Sox have had a team in the top 6th in the AL in OPB. Since then, the White Sox AL rank in OBP has been: 2013 (so far) - 14th 2012 - 7th 2011 - 7th 2010 - 7th 2009 - 10th 2008 - 9th 2007 - 14th And the defense this year has been abysmal.
  19. A qualifying offer is at least $13M or something like that, so nobody is tendering a QO to any relievers outside of a maybe a few elite closers.
  20. One question I have: are there teams out there who have top-notch position player prospects they'd be willing to trade but aren't interested in Rios or Peavy? If so, getting younger pitching talent in return for them and flipping that talent over for these position players could be an option.
  21. I guess you and I don't have the same definition of 'soon'.
  22. Do you think the people he saved give a f*** how he ended up there?
  23. Hey, a switch-hitter available!
