  1. Is he even going to be able to pitch?
  2. Fine, but WAR comes from different things, and his came from defense and a little bit of power. His OBP is terrible, and that's what the Sox need more than anything. I wouldn't say that Moustakas is terrible, but I would say he's a bad fit for the Sox.
  3. I think this Bears team is a favorite to beat anybody except Green Bay. The Packers somehow manage to neutralize the defensive turnover machine.
  4. Yes, because ND is ahead of Oregon in the computer ratings and that is what keeps KSU ahead of Oregon in the BCS standings since Oregon is ahead in the human rankings.
  5. Computers are only 1/3 of the rankings. ND doesn't get in unless two of the top 3 lose a game, and ND still has to win at USC.
  6. Got called in this game, but keep playing the role of the whiny b****.
  7. Which ones? The one that went in ND's favor at the end or the three that went in Pitt's favor earlier?
  8. Oklahoma and Stanford are both top-15 teams. Miami and Michigan are unranked but might win their conferences. BYU and Michigan State have mediocre records but against a tough schedules so their computer rankings are high. Purdue and Navy aren't very good but they're better than the two worst teams on most schedules. Most teams have a couple lower division MAC or SBC teams or even FBS teams on their schedule.
  9. The 2012 Astros are still better with Rivera than without him. Dunn needs to maximize his productivity, which for him includes a lot of walks. It's the responsibility of the players hitting behind him and the manager making the lineup to maximize what Dunn brings to the table. It's not Dunn's job to change hit entire offensive identity because the guys behind him are inadequate. Yes, in a way it's bad that Dunn has two guys hitting behind him that GIDP a lot, but you put him behind those guys and then nobody drives him in either. At least the two guys who GIDP a lot are also hitting a lot of home runs, so it's the least bad of the two options.
  10. Now you're just saying stuff to be an ass.
  11. Yes, and not only did Konerko/Rios not drive Dunn in much, they combined for 34 GIDP to eliminate him from the bases completely. As a slow guy, Dunn's style of walking and striking out a lot cuts down on those GIDP for him.
  12. I understand that AJ would probably cost less than Youkilis to re-sign, and also that there is value in AJ batting lefty, but the internal option for replacing AJ is far better than the internal option for replacing Youk, so unless there is a very creative 3B solution in the works, I'd spend the money on Youk before I'd spend it on AJ, and this is coming from somebody who like AJ a lot and doesn't particularly care for Youk.
  13. No, I don't agree with you. You clearly don't understand the value of walks.
  14. Yes, and Adam Dunn walked 105 times, so talking about the worth of one walk is pointless.
  15. I said double the runs from his walks, not double runs total, and he easily does that in the Yankees lineup, and probably the Tigers and a few others as well.
  16. Well Rickey Henderson was a very unique player in that he has so much of a power threat that he got walked a lot. Use Rajai Davis as a comparison. A single walk to Rajai Davis is more damaging than a single walk to Adam Dunn, but Rajai Davis had a .378 SLG so he wasn't a threat to do any damage with the bat and only got walked 29 times. And no matter how fast Rajai Davis is, 105 walks to Adam Dunn is more damaging than 29 walks to Rajai Davis. The cumulative effect of getting on base 105 more times and thus making 105 less outs far outweighs the fact that he "only" got himself to first base instead of getting a double or home run.
  17. And that pretty much sums up your baseball knowledge right there, if you doubt that Dunn would have scored more runs in a better lineup.
  18. That's not his fault. How f***ing thick is your head that you don't understand that??? If Adam Dunn was on the Yankees the past 10 years he would have scored twice as many runs from his walks.
  19. You could not, right now, sign a free agent who would be more productive than Dunn for $15M a year, whether you like that or not. Somebody who walks as much as Dunn has to bat 3rd, especially in a Sox lineup that is very deficient in OBP.
  20. Running up a pitch count and turning over a lineup is very valuable. Look at how many teams struggle with their bullpens. Also, Dunn bats 3rd instead of 5th or 6th specifically because he walks a lot and needs people behind him to drive him in. You're essentially saying Dunn's value is wasted if the rest of the lineup sucks, which is true. The fix, however, isn't to get rid of Dunn but to have a lineup that doesn't suck.
  21. Walking is part of doing the damage. When you walk, you put a runner on base and you don't make an out. I'm not sure I understand your second point. Are you saying that if a different batter had been batting 3rd and had walked the same as Dunn, he would have scored more? I don't even see how that's possible. If Dunn's only chance to score is to drive himself in, then he's on a pretty lousy team that isn't going anywhere with or without him.
  22. No, I haven't seen him play 3B, but in 7 seasons he's only had 43 innings at 3B, which tells me that teams don't think he's viable there, and in those 43 innings he's had 2 errors in only 15 chances.
  23. Dan isn't a viable option at 3B. I like him, but he is best suited to a bench role for an NL team where you utilize pinch hitters nearly every day, or he could be an platoon option at 1B if a team didn't have a good enough full-time guy.
