  1. Brilliant marketing idea. Even if you only go to five games, you've still paid less than $10/ticket, but the Sox get to count you as paid attendance for all 21 games, which bumps up the attendance figures.
  2. Duke has no chance. Kentucky managed to limit a much better 3 point shooting team in ND. Wisconsin has a real shot. I've thought since the tournament started that ND and Wisconsin were the only teams with a realistic shot at taking down Kentucky. Wisconsin now has the advantage of game film from ND's almost-successful attempt.
  3. Sanchez is young enough with enough upside that he needs to be playing everyday in order to develop. If he doesn't earn the starting 2B job with the Sox then he needs to be starting at SS/2B at Charlotte. Beckham is as good or better than what most teams have as their utility infielder. We just have a hard time seeing it that way because he underperformed so much as a starter.

  5. Yes, OBP is much more important, but of course BA contributes to OBP, so you still hope for the over.
  6. I'm off that day. Need to get my mlb.tv purchase made by then so I can watch.
  7. I imagine Connaughton is on his way to Sarasota already.
  8. He actually did that fairly often this year and made more than his fair share.
  9. UK won it fair and square. Other than the missed hack on Auguste early in the first half, no really horrible calls. Poor execution in the last two minutes. Really depressing because with Grant/Connaughton gone, this is the closest ND is going to get to the F4 for quite a while.
  10. By definition, yes, that's a bad call, but it goes against the defense 99% of the time. The missed hack on the "block" of Auguste's shot early in the half was the only really bad call I saw. ND not shooting well, getting too many shots blocked, turning the ball over too much, and still tied.
  11. Very poor offensive effort through 8 minutes and still only down 1. A bit encouraged.
  12. I have not been this excited for a basketball game since June 12, 1991.
  13. We just got back. This was an interesting place: http://www.deerfarmzoo.com/newsite/index.php/en/
  14. Obviously Kentucky is the far superior team. These are the assets ND can bring: 1) Won't be intimidated. I realize this Kentucky team is in a class by themselves, but ND has played Duke 3 times, UNC twice, Louisville and MSU each once, so they are used to seeing elite names on the front of opposing jerseys. 2) Won't give up. ND has been down double digits plenty of times so they aren't just going to roll over like most teams do when Kentucky gets them down 10+ 3) ND has guys who can hit insane shots that nobody can defend. If they hit a high enough percentage of them, it's hard for anybody to beat them. All that said, I still can't figure out how ND has much chance of keeping Kentucky from scoring just about every time down the floor. I guess the best shot is to just pack a zone in real tight and hope that Harrison and Booker have career worst 3 point shooting nights. A couple hours ago, I was thinking that trying a full court press might be a good idea, working under the assumption that once Kentucky gets past half court they are going to score anyway, but ND never presses and a team that presses for a living is getting destroyed using it so that plan is out the window.
  15. Seems to only be called tight on one end of the floor. If the refs let Kentucky use their hands on defense that much Saturday then ND won't fare any better than WVU is right now.
  16. No, ND won that game in overtime, but that was back in December so it doesn't really mean much.
  17. I agree, the BIG's best team was a bit better than the ACC's 5th best team.
  18. 16:28 - ND timeout - score 37-38 4:36 - Demetrius Jackson made free throw - score 75-56 That's a 38-16 run in just under 12 minutes, against a Top 15 team.
  19. ND is the second best team left in this tournament. Only problem is that they (likely) have to beat the best team to get to the F4. Brey finally found the perfect combination of players for his offensive system.
  20. Consider two different scenarios. In both, a local business owner that does wedding work (baker, photographer, etc.), is known to be an anti-gay Christian. Scenario 1: A gay couple goes into the business, and in the process of ordering work done for their wedding, berate the business owner, call him a bigot and all other kinds of names. Scenario 2: A gay couple goes into the business, and in the process of ordering work done for their wedding, are nothing but kind and polite to the business owner. Now, in #1, I'm all in favor of the business owner having the right to refuse to do business with these people because they've given him a reason other than just being gay. In #2, I'm not at all in favor of the business owner having the right to refuse to do business with these people because they've given him no other reason than just being gay. I'm not sure what the rights of the business owner with respect to these scenarios were before this law or will be after this law, but it doesn't seem like the law is a very good idea. Also, I like ss2k's opening statement. Jesus made sure to spend plenty of time with sinners. Refusing to deal with any class of people who are "sinners" by your religious beliefs doesn't seem like a good thing to do, legal or not.
  21. I think the symbolism in naming an Opening Day starter is lost when the true Opening Day starter is starting Opening Day on the DL. I'm fine with Jeff getting the nod, especially if it works with the expected date of Sale's return.
  22. 99.99% of people I deal with on a daily basis are either UK, UL, or IU fans, who can brag about no less than 3 national championships. ND winning one doesn't make much of a dent, ND taking down the best college team ever would get their attention.
  23. Where I live, the next year would be a lot more fun for me by beating Kentucky than by winning the NC.
  24. Shouldn't this thread be in FutureSox? Or better yet, a yet uncreated section called "Future DFA"?
  25. OK, I know that ND is far from a lock to take down WSU, but if they do, am I completely insane for wanting a shot at Kentucky rather than hoping WVU takes them down?
