  1. I see where refusing to serve Westboro Baptist or the KKK is more socially acceptable than refusing to cater a gay wedding, but there really isn't any distinction legally. "Hate" groups have a first amendment right to free speech, so I don't see legal grounds to refuse to serve them but not to refuse to cater the gay wedding.
  2. All you really need is for total revenue sharing of every team's local TV deals.
  3. Indianapolis does an awful lot of convention business. Central location within the country. Airport has non-stop flights to/from a lot of destinations but does not have the hassles/delays of the bigger airports. Hotel rates and taxes are a lot lower than bigger cities, but still enough variety in dining/entertainment options to keep people occupied for a few days. When they tore down the RCA Dome and built Lucas Oil Stadium 10 years ago, the site of the old dome was turned into added space for the convention center.
  4. I would cover up to about $300-350 worth of bets from anybody who wanted to bet the Cubs at 6/1.
  5. Maybe I can finally get into Olive Garden for dinner without an hour plus wait.
  6. Either (a) the law doesn't actually allow that or (b) Pence has pledged that if the law does allow that, it will be altered so that it doesn't Pence and the legislative leadership are claiming that they meant the scope to be much narrower, so we'll see what the final result is.
  7. Taco Bell serves breakfast now.
  8. http://www.abc57.com/story/28681598/rfra-f...ame-sex-service Because, you know, so many people have pizza at their weddings.
  9. Windsor is the city immediately adjacent to Detroit, but Toronto is the major city that is closest to Detroit.
  10. Forgot about Cleto. I'd rather DFA Cleto and Brantly and give Surkamp another chance in the minors (or is he out of options?)
  11. Position players seem pretty much set: Flowers, Soto (not on 40), LaRoche, Abreu, Johnson (not on 40), Ramirez, Gillaspie, Bonifacio, Beckham, Cabrera, Eaton, Garcia, Shuck Starters: Sale (DL), Samardzija, Quintana, Noesi, Danks Relievers: Robertson, Duke, Petricka (DL), Putnam, Guerra, Jennings, Albers (not on 40) That leaves two pitching slots open to be filled until the two on the DL return. I guess Drabek could fill one of those roles but he has no options so then he gets DFA'd once Petricka is back, unless Drabek ends up being good enough to justify keeping Petricka in the minors. You already have to find three spots on the 40 for Soto, Johnson and Albers, so I have a hard time figuring out who else gets to go to Kansas City with the team. Only one spot open right now, and Brantly can probably get DFA'd, but I don't see another good candidate to be removed from the 40. Fernandez maybe?
  12. Do people pay to make posts? If not, then I don't think it holds quite the same meaning as refusing business from people.
  13. I think it would be hard to have watched the ND-UK game and not think that KAT is the #1 pick. I kind of chuckled a bit when the All-America team was announces and WCS was on it and KAT was not. Good to see that Jerian Grant got recognized, though.
  14. As a business owner, Jas should have the right to place conditions on how the customer's product will look, but not to unilaterally refuse to accept the customer's business. Same with the baker. The baker should have the right to place the condition that (s)he won't put any "gay pride" symbols on the cake, or that the customer will have to pick up the cake so the baker does not have to physically be present at the wedding location or other ways to accommodate religious beliefs, but not to unilaterally refuse to accept the business. EDIT: I also want to add that if you have such strong objections to doing business with gay people, then being in a business that involves weddings (baker, caterer, photographer) is probably not a good plan, because even if it's legal to refuse business, it's a very poor business plan.
  15. There would be plenty of money to spend on social issues without raising taxes if Senators of both parties would worry more about the overall efficiency of the government rather than getting money for their own states. A few years ago, I was assigned to do a management analysis of my agency's three call centers. I determined that the one of them was redundant and unnecessary, and that the agency could save $3M a year by closing it. I was then told that the ranking member on the Senate committee responsible for the budget for my agency was from that state, so there was zero chance of that savings ever being realized. I know $3M a year doesn't sound like a lot, but there are likely hundreds of other similar ways that government is wasting money by keeping unnecessary facilities/jobs in certain states, so it adds up to billions pretty quickly. You could build a lot of roads and give a lot of people health insurance with those billions and never raise anybody's taxes by a single penny.
  16. Part of me would like to see one of the BIG teams win, but another part of me would like to see Kentucky breeze through the F4 winning both games by double digits just to make ND look better.
  17. Whether you show up or not, there are seats somewhere in the park that you have paid for. Just the same as anybody else who buys tickets but doesn't show up.
  18. And many will also pay to park.
  19. I just don't buy that the baker should have the right to not produce a cake for an "objectionable" event. I think people are trying to stretch the act of baking a cake into some kind of endorsement or approval of the event the cake is for, and I think that's an overreach of "religious freedom."
  20. I tend not to be in the middle of the predictions, but this year I am: 87 wins
