  1. Looks like we’re going back under .500. Thanks, Lopez. Still think he ought to go play in Japan.
  2. Because that OPS isn’t good, and nothing you cite redeems it, because if a guy in this system doesn’t dominate the minors, he’s not going to do jack up here. We’ve seen it a dozen times over. I’ve said my piece.
  3. Polish his routes? This organization produces complete imbeciles in the field. Talented athletes, sure, but technically refined and smart players who take the best routes? No way. What makes you think this organization will develop the best results out of any given player, especially in an aspect like that?
  4. We can come back to this in a few years. Having a decent wRC+ for half of AA season isn’t the goal. Having a productive MLB RFer is, and Basabe isn’t going to be that. And even if he does get an MLB stint, there’s going to be no objective standard that Sox fans (as found on SoxTalk) will hold him to. He’ll put up a .650 OPS but they’ll point to some other facet of his game or obscure sabes stat and make excuses for how he’s actually a decent player, despite what our eyes tell us. They’ll say he’s still young, or that it’s too small of a sample (although the definition of “SSS” will extend as necessary). That’s what they have done for Yolmer Sanchez for six years now. At what point can we write anyone off??? We are the biggest congratulants of mediocrity of any fan base in sports, but then we have the gall to wonder why we’re completely mediocre.
  5. He had a .734 OPS there last year. Only a White Sox fan would be excited by that.
  6. Why does anyone think that? He’s a 22 year old with a .570 OPS at AA. He was solid but far from spectacular at WS last year, and everywhere else, he’s sucked. There’s almost no chance he puts up 2-3 WAR regularly, a slightly larger chance that he gets a cup of coffee and does nothing with it, and an undeniable likelihood that he never makes it at all. We are not like these other organizations who are so skilled at offensive prospect development that they practically pull useful hitters out of hats. If they are not consensus blue chips, hitting prospects for us will almost certainly amount to zilch.
  7. Jose and McCann get on, 3 bombs and 9 RBIs. Book it.
  8. Doesn't matter too much, but Giolito will be the first pitcher to ten wins this year.
  9. Off scot free, amigo!
  10. Cool! The other day, I saw two dogs on the side of the highway. One of them was roadkill. I walked up to roadkill dog hoping to find a tag, and lo and behold, it looked up at me and ran into the bushes. I caught him and took him to the vet. Unfortunately, he went into a coma and they put him down. That sucked. Please take care of your little guy.
  11. Holy shit. I think a hitter who came up mostly through our system is actually going to amount to something, for once. This is incredible.
  12. What’s so big about this? Is it because we might hit .500 so far into the season?
  13. It’s been two weeks. I still do not think he will put up an .800 OPS this year or in 2020 or 2021. Don’t be impatient- just come back and talk to me then.
  14. That question was OK. If you're reasonably paying attention, you'd know that Gio K'ed 11 yesterday and has an ERA of low 2s. It's the one where they ask things that everyone except idiot savants would have to look up, like how many walks Ed Walsh had on Sundays in 1909, that bother me. What's the point of this if everyone just goes scrambling to look it up? At the same time, I don't have a Twitter and don't plan to have a Twitter, so I don't compete and mostly just ignore questions like that.
  15. You said he's been hitting .375. The time frame you stated produced a record of 11 for 37, which is ,297. The time frame you then amended it to gave a record of 11 for 33. To hit .375, it'd need to be 11 for 29 (which is .379). You were off by four at bats, even on your second attempt. Don't be off by four at bats. I've loved this team since I was six. I will always root for this team. I want this team to be GREAT. The thing is...the management consistently makes this team bad. They've failed for ten years to anything. I wouldn't last ten years at my job if I sucked at it. Why should we give them ANY leeway? To make this franchise good, which is probably the thing I want most on this planet after the health and wealth of myself, my wife, and my kids, I think somebody else should be running the show. Hating Rick Hahn, Kenny Williams, Jerry Reinsdorf, and Rick Renteria does not make me an unsuitable Sox fan.
  16. LOL. Gimme a break. You pulled some stats out of your butt and I pointed it out. I didn't say it sucked. If you don't want it pointed out, don't be wrong for no reason. Easy.
  17. Where'd you get that? Last ten games plus his work so far today, he's 11 for 37, which is .297.
  18. I thought that was a routine flyout to deepish center off the bat. What.
  19. That sucked. At least now it means Reylo can implode and not have the extra embarrassment of giving up a huge lead.
  20. A bad attitude slap hitter who’s barely eclipsed a season’s worth of games in three years? No.
  21. I like that Benetti points out that this is Gio's 5th career game with 9 or more strikeouts, but doesn't point out that it's also his 4th straight start with 9 plus Ks. He went from doing this not at all, to doing it ALL. THE. TIME. Awesome.
  22. I turned the game off, but this is the end of the line for Reylo (with me). Dude doesn't have what it takes. Total loser!
