  1. End of the year. Start him in Charlotte next year. Everyone’s going to hate this, but Gordon Beckham destroyed AA-AAA when he was there. So did Eloy. Slow it down. There is absolutely no reason to rush him.
  2. We talked about this the other day. The reason he has a .702 OPS in May is because his strikeouts increased. Even with his .326 BABIP in May, with the same K-rate and HR-rate, his monthly OPS would be .859. Sure, he's had less luck, but if the K-rate hadn't taken a huge jump up, it wouldn't have mattered much. (I stole the numbers from my older post, so if they're slightly off from the current picture, forgive me. The point remains the same.)
  3. Yeah yeah yeah, he's young and deserves more time. That's what you all say. Fine- this season is a write-off and wins/losses don't matter at all. So more time can be had. Absolutely. That said, give me a date where we can actually judge these players. At which point can we identify certain players as busts? At which point can we be confident that we know what we have? I don't think Moncada will put up an .800 OPS any of the next three seasons. Save this post, come back and quote me if you like. If I'm right, can we start saying that he is what he is, or are we going to continue talking as if he still hasn't had enough opportunity? That it's still the "struggles" of a young player and not just his natural state?
  4. I said, and have always said, that Yoan will probably be a useful player and borderline all-star, but strikes out too much to hit .300. I caveat this by saying it doesn't matter, because again, he can still be a solid player. Other people attack this and make a big deal about his OPS being at least .870. Now, I could absolutely be wrong, but based simply on the math, I don't see that as a high probability either. A BA or .260 and OPS of .800 seem reasonable to me as a long term output for a guy who strikes out at his particular rate. Of course, some people sarcastically mocked it at the time because, 45 or so games into the season, he had an .870+ OPS and said it must therefore be possible. Ignoring their own usual rantings about SSS and the fact that Yoan got off to a great and relatively unsustainable start, they assumed he could do .870+ because he had done it until that point. A week later, it's changed drastically. Yoan has continued to regress towards his mean, which is emphatically not an .870 OPS player. I'm not happy about it. I love this team and would like to be wrong. But if people want to be assholes about it, because I think we got less for one of the best pitchers in franchise history than we deserved and it represents yet another of Rick Hahn's many failures, then I'm happy to go that route too.
  5. Thanks for the advice! Hey, wanna talk about Yoan's impeccable OPS again? Or is that not as fun anymore, since it's making like a Johnny Cash song and going down, down, down?
  6. Aw c'mon man, if you can't shit randomly on other people on the Internet, what's the point?
  7. It was a really bad game, from an older guy with a pretty limited history of success in MiLB. I've fired people for less.
  8. You might not like that I'm obsessed with K-rate and think our most highly-touted prospects have one that is too damn high, but I'm not the dude who moved to Nashville because we failed to sign to Machado. Check your own eye, buddy.
  9. How long is Anderson going to be out? If he's not playing, logging into my MLBTV account is almost too much work to watch this dogshit.
  10. I agree with this. Rosario and Berrios are great, maybe Polanco and Buxton too to a lesser extent, but everyone else is faking it. They’ll regress.
  11. When I think about it like that, it makes me think about walking away from sports. When I was a ten year old Sox fan, bad losses could, no joke, make me cry. I've gathered myself a lot since then, but this can all still put me in a foul mood. And for what? If he completely sucks, Eloy will still have $100 million. I'll be pissed about it, but I hope he enjoys his megayacht.
  12. Seriously. I'm not a pitying type, and I'm doing well, but I look at a business venture that could allow me to pull in $20,000 a month four years from now and think it's the dreamiest thing ever. This dude makes two and a half times that night. Fuck right off.
  13. The only problem I have with that is when are our stars going to line up? Four more years of Moncada, five of Anderson, seven of Eloy, none of Rodon, four of Gio, then we're relying on the next wave. I might be wrong about some of those numbers because I'm guessing off the top of my head, but if we traded Chris Sale for a guy who will be gone the year after we finally get good...isn't that sort of a fuckup? I get this year being a tank, but call Robert, Cease, Collins, Lambert, and Mendick up later this year, win 81+ next year, get Madrigal and one OF up at some point that year, along with a recovered Kopech, add an arm or two that offseason, and plan to compete in 2021. Right?
  14. From what I remember of that movie, Billy liked Jerry because he used to actually be good. That's not the case with Yonder.
  15. The OPS is down to .600. Glad we spent $9 million on him rather than just offering that money to our real target himself!
  16. Whatever. Tilson, Moncada, and Anderson are 6-6 today, and have been on 8 out of 9 times. Wish Eloy would do something, but fuck the rest of this team. Lopez had shit peripherals last year and is shitty at everything this year. No surprise. I can be happy with this.
  17. I now must renew my support for your cause. Yolmer is unbearable.
  18. Can Stone stop talking about how well Sanchez is hitting it? He's 6 for his last 24. And now for his last 25. He blows. Always has.
  19. Agree with you on that one. If the Twins win the division this year, I'll be excitedly watching Game 1 of whatever DS they're in, so I can watch them break the all-time postseason game losing streak. Fuck the Twins.
