AL Wildcard Race
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 11:42 PM) I'm worried because they have great starting pitching that could carry them to the WS again. Nah the Tigers will get ousted in the first round or wildcard these year.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) That's like saying the CLE Indians SHOULD have won the 2005 Joe Crede walkoff game and made the playoffs instead of collapsing in the final week after fighting so hard for six weeks to catch up. My point was that if the Royals think the Sox are going to lay down, they are mistaken.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) Lousy at bat by Carlos. Took the high pitch to center for the pop up. Damn. Sox gave it a good ol fashioned try. One hit from victory Carlos failed. Oh well. How do you figure?

AL Wildcard Race
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) That's what the Tigers thought last night with Bassitt on the hill, an inexperienced rookie with a 5+ ERA and still looking for his first win as a starter. There's a LOT more pressure on Felix Hernandez to stop the bleeding for the Mariners. I think winning the final game against the Tigers, almost coming back to tie CLE and then essentially knocking them out of the post-season discussion has helped the Royals to relax a little bit and breathe easier...they're only one game behind the Tigers, and the Royals also feel very confident about matching up with the White Sox. And isn't Sale going to pitch against DET and miss KC? The royals should have lost 2 games to the Sox last week.

Sox have a good chance to play spoiler down the stretch. Tigers will crush the sox tonight so the Royals have to be on their A-game.

Hillary
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) You have to admit, though, that Obama and Bill Clinton are a campaign manager's dream. They are great looking men. They look great on TV. They are very very likeable. Hillary, meanwhile ... I cant believe you all don't agree with me about the Bob Dole comparison. She, like Mr. Dole, is cranky at times, known probably more for a scowl than a smile. I am amazed that the Democratic candidate for president has it so easy nowadays. The Republicans are un-electable. That party is so out of date it is unelectable no matter who the Demos toss out there. They just need to dangle a minority out there that actually has a shot. You can't keep trotting the likes of McCain and Romney and expect to win an election.

Chris Sale
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) Pitchers have 45 PAs against Kershaw. They have 3 hits (1 2B), 1 BB, 21 K, and 5 sacrifice bunts. .077/.100/.103 So Kershaw has pitched approximately 15 innings worth of *yawn How many pitchers has Sale gone up against this year?

Chris Sale
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 02:20 PM) So do all the other pitchers in the running for the NL Cy Young. I was saying that for someone who thinks Kershaw is better than Sale.

Chris Sale
Kershaw only has to deal with 8 hitters though.

I am probably going Rauner too. It's time to give a republican a shot.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Sadly in this country, and particularly this state and city, "he's rich" is worse than "this dude straight up lied to you AND is taking your money away!!" Here's the thing Jenks, both candidates are going to be taking money out of our pockets. If Rauner lowers the minimum wage, that's just more people on the government tit. Quinn's mismanagement of tax funds is already costing us money. The question is, which is going to cost the least. So yeah it's really the lesser of two evils. I think Rauner has a good message with term limits and shutting down democrat ineptitude in Illinois. That being said, no poor person is going to get behind that guy knowing he thinks they should be paid less and that he wants to have tax loopholes for people that invest. I think Rauner would shake up Illinois but he probably doesn't have the ammo to win this.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) Why does being rich make him an asshole? Seriously, Quinn is just bad. Not saying Rauner is much better, but Quinn is bad. Intellect of Biden, and zero likability. You're right that Quinn is bad, which is why the Republicans should just produce a likable candidate that can win, preferably a minority. Rauner is the poster boy for the GOP. Can you picture anyone but white people voting for him? You could say the same about Quinn but he does have (D) next to his name.

Intellect of Biden, and zero likability. I saw the video of saying that he would lower minimum wage down to the federal level. I know Chicago's problems have arisen due to poor leadership but saying you're going to take money out of people's pockets is a quick way to give your opponent a landslide victory. Wages just have to go up at this point otherwise they are just going to be living off the government tit anyway. If Rauner is going to eliminate those social programs, he'll have riots on his hands.

Sorry to bring this up again but I was researching both candidates for Illinois gubernatorial race. (Can an admin change my spelling error in the title?) Part of me wants to see a Republican in Springfield just to shake up the Illinois democratic machine. That being said, Rauner just seems like your run of the mill, typical, rich asshole Republican. How is it that every time an election comes up, where the incumbent should be clearly voted out that Republicans fail to produce a quality candidate?
