  1. I don't think the As are getting beat this time around. The Tigers are de-clawed in the first round, take it to the bank.
  2. Cardinals over Pirates 3-1 As over Tigers 3-2 Braves over Dodgers 3-2 Red Sox over TB 3-2 Cardinals over Braves 4-2 As over Red Sox 4-3 Cardinals over As 4-2
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 11:03 AM) Fernando Rodney, fastball velocity, per year 2007 - 93.8 2008 - 95.4 2009 - 95.9 2010 - 95.6 2011 - 95.5 2012 - 96.2 2013 - 96.6 PEDS
  4. Yeah he made Brantley or Cabrera, I forgot, look terribly bad on it.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) OK, before this gets too far, I want to explain my situation in detail so people know exactly what they'd be supporting. My next paycheck would normally arrive 10/12. If the shutdown ends by Monday, I won't miss a paycheck. However, my backup plan for missing a paycheck is to make a withdrawal from my retirement account, and it takes 10 days to get that money, so I couldn't wait until Monday to make that decision and have gone ahead and requested 4 weeks salary. I figure that 4 weeks is a worst-case scenario in a shutdown, and with us spending money only on food, gas, and paying bills, we can make that 4 weeks salary stretch 6-7 weeks if we need to. Now, what I have lost permanently is the 10% penalty I have to pay on that withdrawal, plus I lose the agency match to my retirement contributions for six months. That's going to add up to about $3000. Now, if Soxtalk feels compelled to share in the loss of that $3000, I'm not going to say no, but I don't want anybody believing that I need money in order to feed my family. At least not for another 4+ weeks. I'm still down to pitch in as long as we have a valid method to get people what they need.
  6. We could just ask the site owners to start one up? I'm serious about this, I'd be more thing willing to chip in some cash to help people out. At least I know my money will be doing some good in that case. Anyway we can get this rolling?
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) My guess is he's gawn. You can't wish ill on a person's family like he did. Hickory has to be feeling pretty low. He needs the money and has to hit his own retirement funds just to keep the family running. We should be starting a soxtalk fundraising effort if he needs the cash rather than Duke's pathetic stance. Awesome post. I'm down for that. Who wants to be in charge of the slush fund?
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) Rodney is pretty dominating. Don't want him to pose, don't let him beat you. He can fire imaginary arrows all he wants IMO I hate the way he has his hat all tilted.
  9. Wow. The White Sox pretty much put the Indians in the postseason.
  10. Watching good baseball is a breath of fresh air. Poor Injuns looking like they are one and done. Watch Giambi hit a grand slam in the 9th.
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) Seriously, just pass the damn cr with a delay on Obamacare and then your shutdown is over. Then get your asses back into session and decide this thing NOW, but COMPROMISING, not saying you will do it my way only, clean, or i won't pass it. reid has had multiple chances to do it, and failed to do so. Both sides are playing politcs here, you choose to only vilify one. I think both sides are asshats. I just personally find what the GOP is doing distasteful. There are ways to do things and this is not a way to do things.
  12. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) They would just be called an uncle tom, or told they don't really represent that race/ethnicity. Look at the people saying Ted Cruz isn't Latino. He is as much Latino as Obama is black. Alpha that is projecting my friend. People just don't like Ted Cruz's politics. That Jindal character I heard would have been a good choice. My beef is, I don't think Republicans would allow a minority to represent their party.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) Agree on House, disagree on Senate. Lots of already-red states on the slate for the Senate. And I think in cases where the state is not deep red or blue, the GOP is going to be hurting (pending on other world/national events of course). They will likely lose Senate seats IMO. House will likely stay red, but lose some ground and get close to even - but that is harder to predict and depends a lot on the economy in the next year. Either way if the American people send a message to this assholes it will be good.
  14. GOP actually needs to produce viable candidates who can win. Might be good to start with a person of color/minority.
  15. GOP is going down big time for this. They will be crushed in 2014. All they had to do was weather the storm and take back leadership. I don't think that's possible after the latest shenanigans. I believe in free speech and such but damn Duke, you could be more compassionate and sympathetic toward your fellow posters. Your beef is with the government and that's fine but the people losing their paychecks are clearly collateral damage.
  16. Damn just reading this thread is depressing. I'm sorry but these tea party f***ers need to go. They are trying to circumvent the process that is in place instead of doing s*** the right way. They need to compromise at this point and concentrate on winning elections. This s*** will make everyone hate them and rightfully so. My blood is boiling thinking about what I'd do to them in a closed room right now.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 12:57 AM) I missed the Blacklist this week. Anyone know where I can catch a rerun? Check on demand for the easiest access.
  18. Did anyone take the GRE in Chicago at the University of Chicago? That is their subject test.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Couple things that didn't make sense in the final: How did Walt get back to New Mexico from New Hampshire so damn quick to be there when the Grey Matter people got home when the lady on the phone said they would be back that night. Didn't make sense. Also how did he get ricin in the packet for Lidia?? You can't reseal that packet and it isn't where she always sits. Last time she met Todd she sat by the window I though. This time was different?? What does everyone think? He called from New Mexico first and foremost, not New Hampshire. That part is easy. He just made his own stevia package with ricin in it and put his packet there and removed the rest. That's not criminal mastermind s*** there.
  20. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) So way back in my 3rd year of college I met this girl and we really got on. Hitting it off, we really worked well together. I was all about her, I struggled to hide it and suppress it but eventually really "went for it" and kinda struck out. Since then we had talked every 6 months or so cause even though it wrecks me every time I just engage her anyways. I'm a glutton for punishment. So my truck breaks down outside the city she moved to out west, and being the dumb ass I am I called her. She of course rushed out and we hung out for a few hours having not seen each other face to face in 3 years. It was great, we picked up like right at this awesome place we were at before. She looked fantastic, she was still smart and I mean, yea, it was all still there. She went on to kinda complain about the relationship she had been in for a year or so now and I had to tell her not to go on about it, and she complied but of course it stuck with me. This girl ain't dumb, she knew what she was saying. Since then all those feelings have just rushed back. I just stew on it for 11 hours by myself driving the truck. And I mean its not like I can sustain anything even if she was on board, I have to be from Burley, ID to Worcester, MA in the next 5 days. And from there who knows. It just sucks, this is the one girl I ever really got beat up over. I can't help but stay in touch with her because she's so stimulating and really is one of a handful of people stands up to my bulls*** but the only one who never judged me for it. It blows, man. And the thing is next time I'm in her neck of the woods I'll call her again. I can't help it. Is this infatuation or a legitimate crush?
  21. I liked it. I thought the ending was perfect. People who want to know every single detail are just experiencing the five stages of death. They are in the denial stage that the show isn't over until it everything is explained. Let it go, just close your eyes and drift away.
  22. And just think both of them could be White Sox next year.
  23. I somewhat was happy Giambi belted that homer to give their fans something to cheer for. I mean Cleveland is a pretty dismal place. The city needs this. When the Sox, took that lead, you felt this doom and gloom presence.
