Roger Clemens indicted for perjury, obstruction
sunofgold replied to Balta1701's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) I'd love to know how often that actually happens, and what percentage of those actually result in a conviction. I think Clemens has some good defense behind him. Just throw some doubt in there. Pettite might have misunderstood/misremember/etc. Pettite went along with it. Basically saying that you aren't 100 percent sure. I think Clemens will not be indicted. and you cannot say that Pettite committed perjury under oath. Great plan. I foresee both of them pitching for the yanks this year. -
Sale back to the rotation per KW, MRI comes back clean

QUOTE (Jake @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) I wouldn't want to be quoted on that until we see him remain effective as a starter for a few outings. MRI is clean right now. That is all that you can go by. B&B didn't seem to understand the concept of a precautionary MRI. Like being on the cautious side. They believed that only injured players get MRIs. And they were making fun of Coop. -
Maybe this one needs instructions. DA..pause...DA...be sure to stress the second DA. Makes it very dramatic. And the word DA has so many meanings. How do you like me know? DA....DA

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) This might be as good as it gets so I'll post it now: .257/.401/.628/1.030 I love you Adam Dunn. No way. He is still peaking. He also has a 4 home run game still left in him.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) It was a good win but I don't know if it was a statement game. As the cliche goes ... momentum is as strong as the next day's starting pitcher. If we get another good start, maybe it'll be a statement series. It was a good, clean victory -- the kind fans love. A little bit of everything in the game from a Sox standpoint. I just joking about the statement game. Sorry I forgot the haha thing.

Sale back to the rotation per KW, MRI comes back clean

This is awesome. Boers and Bernstein were making fun of Cooper saying that Sale was healthy and they were just checking things out with the mri. Coop was right. B&B were wrong. they though that you had to be injured to get the MRI. -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) You can argue we have a solid 1-4 punch! Maybe 1-8 on our good games. Not 9'deep though.

So did we officially name a closer? sale was the closer and now back into the rotation. Now we need to name our closer. Think RV forgot. oops. hope that it is Reed, Addison! -
I think we have the BOOM BOOM POW going! This team is kinda streaky. Just have to avoid the long losing streaks. And the Royals are a team that we have to continually take at least 2 out of three.
-
Dunn is great now. We have solid 3-4 punch Our offense is decent with the ascent of Dunn. 50 hr season this year is not a dream but a possibility.
-
Yeah WHITE SOX win. That was a statement game. telling the Royals that they ain't catching us. Heck we are going to make it hard for them to score against us. CPOTY with a dinger in his pursuit of $10 Hamilton.
-
Sale going to close this one out right. jk I don't know. Who is still on the roster Stults, Axel, the guy with the last name beginning with Q.
-
Gavin going great. He must want that pitcher of the month award.
-
Alejandro, you are doing pretty good. Keep it up boy. Solving one problem. If Beckham keeps this up then you have some protection behind you. If not, you will manage.
-
As long as we are in the division race and as long as Peavy pitches well, you hold onto him. There might be concern later in the year as the innings piling up. He hasn't pitched 200 innings since 2007. And this is probably why he won't get a superstar pitcher contract. However, he definitely is increasing his value with each great start. If you don't trade him this season and you don't pick up the option next season, his contract still comes off the books. You don't receive any players for him but you save money that could be used for somebody else. $22M would be too much to pay for him next year. I don't think that his market value will be that high. He probably is gone this year or next. It could be in Jake's best interest to go back to the NL. They haven't seen him there in years and you have the pitcher batting there (easy outs). He could really dominate in that league.

Pujols having some struggles too. First year going to AL. Maybe it just takes time to learn the new pitchers and get more ABs against them.

Dunn not the only candidate for Comeback Player of the Year?
sunofgold replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Gordon is hitting over .300 in May, .350 OBP, .528 SLG, .878 OPS. Brent, not so much. Yes, I am worried about Morel. He is in a bad funk while Beckham has seemed to break out of his. Rios is doing better this year however he has only hit 1 home run. -

sunofgold replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How about Beckham and Morel coming back from horrible Aprils? I know Beckham won't win this award but still want to see him improve this year over last. -
Dunn though came off one of the worst season ever put by a starting player. He better hit 40 hrs this season. So what is the difference between this year and last? Hitting coach? Better offseason preparation? Learning the pitchers better in the new league?
-
Dunn is going to have to hit more hrs to catch Hamilton. Lol. Dunn is in the driver's seat to be CPOTY. Unless Peavy gets it.

Jake Peavy wins AL Pitcher of the Month
sunofgold replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Back to back. That is what Peavy is going for. When was the last time we had a pitcher just dominate start after start. Maybe Contreras at the end of 2005. JC was dealing and was great but probably not as great as JP right now. -
Sweet two run blast from CPOTY! Go White Sox.
-
Beckham has been playing better. Great game for him tonight.

Jake Peavy wins AL Pitcher of the Month
sunofgold replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This makes him the front runner to win the Cy Young. Keep dealing Peavy and you will get a new great deal starting next year. -
Thornton great in the eighth, sucks in the ninth. This isn't new. We just have to hold on until Sale is available to close.
