  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:35 PM) 6 K thru 3 for Danish. When is Montas back? There's been a lot of stuff to moan about with the White Sox talent procurement/development, but I love how they haven't given a s***e about unorthodox pitching mechanics. It's got them a franchise player and one of their top prospects. Instructs was the last I heard for Montas.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Can I dream on a 2018 rotation of Sale-Rodon-Danish-Quintana-Adams? Yes. Also Montas is the truth.
  3. Danish 2.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 4K
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) The sad thing is there is absolutely no help coming from the minors, with regards to the bullpen, unless it's Rodon. Lack of pitching depth throughout the system has killed the Sox this year. Be glad you're not a Knights fan. Their bullpen this year has been punch-your-grandma bad.
  5. Danish 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K Josh Norris @jnorris427 · 4m Danish showing off that gorgeous changeup again. Two Ks in the first.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 12:40 PM) Just don't overbid on Miller just because...well, chasing performance in short relievers (see Kelly Downs or Jim Johnson) is just like buying last year's 130% returning mutual fund on a high, only to see it lose 30% the year you buy in. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) The Sox aren't in a position to pay $5+ annually to a reliever. That is a last piece move, not a .500 team move. Yup.
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 10:43 PM) Clint Longenecker ‏@Clint_BA 18s @johnmanuelba @ProfessorFog Spoke w/ a scout who saw him within last 2 weeks. Said he was up to 96 w/ 6 SL and 6 CH. Quality young man too. Reply Retweet Favorite Delete
  8. 6.0 IP, 8H, 3ER, 0BB, 9K Hit around a bit in the 6th, still a great outing
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) Pretty sure that dropped baseballs don't show up in cherry-picked OPS's. Not in OPSs of course but they show up in other statistics. The sum of those statistics being that he has been a very valuable player for the Sox.
  10. Adams 5.0 IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 9K 40 strikeouts and 2 walks in 27.2 IP. Ridic.
  11. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 09:07 PM) It's not a good fit. General Boneheadedness is not a quantifiable statistic but if it were it would negate plenty of the value you speak of. Please give examples of boneheadedness that do not show up in statistics
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 09:58 PM) lol wut? People set up Twitter accounts to role-play, basically playing a character and interacting with other people pretending to be their friends/rivals/lovers etc. One of them has named himself Spencer Adams (a UFC fighter married to a fitness trainer), and every time I try to search Twitter for updates, every goddamn one of his mentions shows up in the search. Scroll down https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q...ms&src=typd Meanwhile, the non-UFC fighting Spencer Adams is 4.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 7K.
  13. Adams with 3 strikeouts in the third, 3.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 5K. Kid is so legit. Jay Hashop @sevenfuturehit · 4s Not a fan of how short Adams gets with his arm and his lack of extension in stride, but there's a ton of pure arm speed and good movement. Jay Hashop @sevenfuturehit · 19s It showed more downward break and he threw it at 84 last inning, so I'm calling it a slider. A damn good one. Jay Hashop @sevenfuturehit · 30s I don't know whether Spencer Adams calls his high-80s pitch a slider or a cutter, but when it's on, it's near unhittable.
  14. Adams 2.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K Jay Hashop @sevenfuturehit 1m Spencer Adams down to 90-93 in B2, but he picked up another swinging K and got a double play to erase Ibandel Isabel's hit.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) Have there been any reports from the AZL about his velocity? Jay Hashop @sevenfuturehit 11m Okay. Spencer Adams has an arm. Jay Hashop @sevenfuturehit 8m Spencer Adams B1: FB 93-94 T95 flashes late jolt, SL/CT thing 86-88 can really swerve. Yikes. Lucky those were in the past 10 minutes or so because there's a role-playing account on Twitter called Spencer Adams and any time I look for anything on the pitcher I have to scroll through about 813 messages from some fat old dude to some other fat old dude role-playing as his wife.
  16. Spencer Adams 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) Part of it is coincidence. Part of it is a kid who should be in AA, still learning the league, pitch selection etc. Most of it is that he hasn't been catching Sale or Quintana
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) Looking at some of the Facebook comments...I have a pretty good idea The comments on the announcement for LGBT night were really something
  19. Flowers stealing Belisario's lucky glasses really ruined two of my ongoing arguments
  20. Micah 0-3, walk Semien 1-3, walk Avisail 2-4 Phegley 2-4 Wilkins 1-2, 2 walks Michael Taylor 2-3, double Kevan Smith 1-3 Cleuluis 1-3 Hawkins 0-2, walk Narvaez 1-2, double, walk Engel 2-3 Trey 1-2, double, walk Brett Austin 1-2, walk
  21. I believe I was the only person to put Omar Narvaez in my midseason top 30, he's starting to get really interesting to me. Came into tonight hitting .321/.431/.440 with Winston-Salem, he's 1-1 with a double and a walk tonight. Between Kanny and WS, hitting .303/.373/.365. 26 walks and 20 strikeouts. Just needs some power. He's thrown out 45% of runners in the pros. Not much info on his receiving.
  22. Q and Danks pitch lefties and righties basically the exact same as well, so it's pretty irrelevant. Sale has a pretty strong split but that's only 'cos lefties hit about .002/.005/.003 off him.
  23. I'm all over Yasmani Tomas. 23 year-old who gets 70 grades on his power, whom the most famous Cuban scout compared favourably to Puig? Yes please.
