FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List - Midseason
Feeky Magee replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 02:03 PM) I know Eric Johnson has graduated, but I was wondering where in the top 25 you all thought he would rank if he was still eligible after this season. Particularly in relationship to Adams/Montas/Danish. Thanks Interesting question. Below all three for me. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 08:02 AM) "President Dunn whiffs on relations with Iran" "President Dunn strikes out with new tax hike" "President Dunn hits a home run with new immigration bill" "President Dunn walks to work"

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 07:13 PM) Danks sucks... But what about the quality starts and when you remove his worst 10 starts

What an awful decision by the Marlins

Wendelken should be an interesting start to track coming off his last performance

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 08:57 AM) The video I saw of Rodon in Winston Salem was beyond impressive. That slider has some nasty movement on it and his fastball has some great late movement to it as well. I'm a boliever. Same with Spencer Adams. Look at the damn movement here: https://twitter.com/sevenfuturehit/status/495851260621635584 https://twitter.com/sevenfuturehit/status/495851888466984960

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 06:56 AM) Dear Mr Magee, I should probably do this in a PM but making definitive statement like "He will never settle in at .250 " comes off as arrogant . Now I know in your mind his history and stats tell you you're right with a high degree of certainty. Might I suggest that you say his stats and history "suggest" or "point towards " unsustainability. Also you might not care that you sound arrogant but since you revealed that you never played the game or correct me if I'm wrong , haven't followed baseball for very long it appears doubly arrogant and that why sometimes people mention those things to you about having never played the game. Just throwing yourself into modern stats doesn''t make you a predictor of the future. A little humility goes a long way when dealing with hardcore fans who really don't want to hear there is no hope for a member of their favorite team . Hope is all we have most of the time so let a few of us hope Tyler can be more than his stats and history "suggest " that he is. Ah come on now, this and any forum is filled with people saying definitive things about things that aren't technically definitive. It wouldn't be the internet if people had to put a qualifier ahead of saying anything!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) Sometimes I think you just watch simulated baseball. Sometimes, don't you think its nice to sit back and enjoy things. I'm sure there would have been some advanced stats that could have told you he wasn't going to hit .089 for the rest of the season which meant there was a hot streak in there somewhere to bring him up to 188 or some crap. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) Stats have a place in the game for sure. But when they totally replace the enjoyment and emotion of the game, you've gone too far. If Tyler Flowers hits a homer, and you are worried about an unsustainable BABIP, instead of jumping up and down with happiness, you are doing it wrong. Who on earth says I don't celebrate a home run because I reply to someone saying "he's so good it's scary" by pointing out he very recently came off what must have been one of the worst extended hitting spells in White Sox history. Besides, BABIP isn't even included in home runs, home runs are not balls in play.

FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List - Midseason

Good read. Dykstra's way low for me. I like the aggressiveness on Rondon. -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 02:11 AM) Didn't he have a 0 ERA his Sr. year ? QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 07:29 AM) Something along those lines. I just don't remember him being really hyped by the people who make the top prospect lists. I could be totally wrong, though. Both correct, he had a 0.00 ERA but didn't receive much pre-draft hype, most scouts seemed to think he was destined to be a reliever. If I recall correctly, of the 3 Top 100 draft prospect lists, he only made the back end of one of them, and was generally considered an overdraft in the mid-2nd.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 06:59 AM) Have you ever watched a game, or do you just read fangraphs all day long. Watching Flowers at the plate lately, there is no reason to believe that he could not be a .250 hitter going forward. No, I watch the games too. In fact, I watched most of the 35 games from May 26th to June 12th where Flowers hit .089/.141/.143 over 120 plate appearances. It is by remembering those 35 games that I'm not going to overreact to the 15 games since. Add the 35 games and the 15 games and he's hitting .200/.250/.344 over his last 50.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 06:00 AM) if he ends up settling in at .250ish with moderate power (by moderate I mean number of HRs, not shear power...because the dude is strong) and decent defense, he'll be fine as the starting catcher. He's hitting .252 with a .380 BABIP, he will not settle in at .250ish.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:25 AM) Tyler Flowers is so good it's scary. He has hit some of the hardest balls since the 1977 South Side Hitmen. That line drive homer tonight was scary. That blast over the foul pole last homestand that was barely foul would have been a legendary blast. That cannon off the second deck, I think it was in Minnie, was also Babe Ruth-like. Kudos to Flowers for indeed flipping the bird at all of us. Okay now, let's not get carried away. He's not far removed from hitting .089/.141/.143 over 120 plate appearances.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) Make that highly unsustainable .252 with an increase in his power since he's doubled his xtra base hits in 18 games. Overall picture on the power is still way down though. ISO has dropped from .160 to .126. It was down half to about .080, bound to rebound somewhat. He has looked better at the plate recently but I still think we should ought to be prepared for another extended dry spell.* *analysis dependent on the glasses not being magic

This bullpen is commendably determined to get a protected draft pick. Leave them alone. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) 2 k's per inning is insane Wendelken broke the Dash record in strikeouts with 13 a few days back, if Danish wasn't on a pitch count he could have threatened it

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) I can't believe people are trying to back up Dunn. And I can't believe people want him back next year. I doubt many, if any, want Dunn back next year, people are just pointing out that quoting his batting average and RBI says nothing about how productive he, or any, hitter has been.
