  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) Ideally, this would correspond with a "change of scenery" trade that got rid of Viciedo and/or De Aza. You'd stick him in LF from day one and enjoy a rather nice defensive upgrade from those two guys (he's miscast in CF, but we have Eaton), and if he has trouble staying healthy, it's the perfect opportunity to shift into the A's-style rotating DH model (with the departures of both Dunn and Konerko) where we essentially carry 4 starting OFers and give them all plenty of rest. No chance is he a better defensive left-fielder than De Aza. He's been in left most of this year and been horrendous.
  6. *whispers* Johnson has 3.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 4K
  7. Thanks Northside, great info!
  8. Adams went 5.0 IP, gave up 5 hits and 2 runs, walking one and striking out 6. ERA lowered to 4.61, but the K:BB rate is a sparkling 14:1. 9.2 K/9 to a 0.66 BB/9.
  9. Dane Stone with another gem of a start. 8.0 IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 6K. Posted this about him last week: QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) Anyone know much about Dane Stone? Posted some really good K:BB ratios as a reliever with the Marlins between rookie ball and high-A, went to indie ball where he pitched well enough to get signed by the Sox and now has a 1.53 ERA with Great Falls in 5 starts. Obvious caveat is that he's 23 in rookie ball, but interesting numbers nonetheless: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P Northside?
  10. 14.42 K/9 to a 2.28 BB/9 last year is something anyway
  11. Really good read. Hopefully Tyler can impart this knowledge onto someone who's not a complete liability at the plate.
  12. Yeah, Reed is more of a 10 WAR player than 12.
  13. Yeah, with Addison Reed we'd be a 57-39 team. For crying out loud.
  14. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) his AAA numbers aren't bad. *shrug* They kind of are. 3.77 K/9? Yikes.
  15. Cleuluis hasn't been striking out at all in Winston-Salem
  16. It might possibly have been the call for an end to bringing opponents down along with the use of the neologism "gaystapo" in the same sentence.
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) Then bring him up. I think they're probably waiting for Viciedo/De Aza/both to be traded, and don't want to lose Sierra. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) He's also 29 years old. Well, 28, but yeah. However, there's an argument to be made that he's had the talent to play in the majors but was blocked at Oakland by a very strong outfield corps and that his good numbers in the minors should supercede his very limited spells in the majors. I guess we'll see, I would expect him in Chicago by August.
  18. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) I wonder if he's hit any good pitchers. I assume he was brought in to be an org player. His cups of coffee in the majors were bitter, but they were small cups. But if he has the bat speed et al to hit real pitchers, bring him up. I'm pretty sure he was brought in to be more than that, Hahn gave up an interesting prospect for him.
  19. Cleuluis 2-3, 2 doubles!
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:02 PM) In their first season? Mark Trumbo hit 29 bombs his rookie year. Walked 4.4% of the time. Joe Carter had a 5.8% career walk rate. Here is a list of 41 1B who walked less than 6.4% of the time in their rookie seasons. I expect Jose's BB% to improve just like these hitters saw their improve once he not only gets used to the pitchers he has never seen before, but also the respect he will get from pitchers who pitch around him to avoid his bat. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...amp;sort=10%2ca His BB% is way inflated by IBBs. 9 out of his 23 walks were intentional.
  21. Semien 3-4, 2 doubles, HR. So much for him struggling. He was just getting unlucky.
  22. Michael Taylor has been outstanding
  23. Just noticed the Knights have Justin Jirschele playing second today. He just hit a sac fly.
  24. Every Knight has reached base so far
  25. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) Yeah, and I didn't mean to imply that it was limited to politicians, but all over the spectrum. Like the gaystapo going after anyone that opposes gay marriage with personal attacks, trying to get them fired and so on. There is just this need to 'destroy' your 'enemy' on a personal level instead of just winning the idea or issue. Dude are you a parody
