  1. Ravelo 0-4, streak over unless he gets back to the plate, Barons have just 5 outs left
  2. I like the way he didn't even bother doing anything to Leury other than pump 3 straight fastballs right down the middle. The book on Leury is a one-page book with the word 'out' on it.
  3. Michael Taylor 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk Davidson 2-5 Phegley 3-5, double Ravelo 0-3, hit streak on the line Jared Mitchell 3-4 with 2 homers
  4. Micah 3-5 with a triple .297/.330/.382 at Charlotte .390/.426/.488 over his last 20 games
  5. When you've got a wRC+ of 20, you've got to make those plays
  6. Current Knights bullpen ERA: Maikel Cleto - 7.57 Parker Frazier - 5.50 Nelvin Fuentes - 5.27 Ryan Kussmaul - 3.99 Henry Rodriguez - 21.60 Taylor Thompson - 2.86 Donnie Veal - 6.12 Matt Zaleski - 5.06
  7. Runner goes... foul ball Runner goes... foul ball Runner goes... foul ball Runner goes... foul ball Runner doesn't go... ground ball double play
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Kluber ' s body language is annoying That pitch he wanted on Eaton was a mile off the plate.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 06:49 PM) No, I vaguely remember Robin thinking that though. Well yeah, the big issue was that he was somehow being put in high-leverage situations. But a couple on here talked about him being made closer.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) Kind of stunning how bad Cleto and Boggs have been this year. Remember when Cleto fluked a low ERA for a while with the Sox and people were saying he was the next closer
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) Viciedo is 0 for his last 15 with 8 strikeouts...get on the phone Hahn He and Beckham have picked bad times to have slumps
  12. Cleto gave up 5 runs in 1.2 IP. Knights bullpen is a travesty.
  13. Leury rocking a .178/.213/.244 line in almost 100 PA. Safe to say the Rangers are gonna get a better player or players for Rios at this deadline than we did.
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:02 PM) But at some point reality should match peripherals if the peripherals are valid. 10 years is getting to be a good sample size. McCarthy has a career 4.19 ERA with a 4.07 FIP, 4.09 xFIP and 4.18 SIERA. There's more of a split with Francis at a 4.95 ERA with a 4.38 FIP, 4.33 xFIP and 4.39 SIERA but it's not so dramatic a split that you can say he's not just at the outside range of bad luck rather than there being a genuine problem that means he will never pitch to his peripherals.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) I've read that too, but they must have gone real deep, because McCarthy has had two years in his entire career in which his WHIP yells out "real good" (and one of those years was his first year). Recently, his WHIPs have been like Danks' recent WHIPs. His K rate is better, so that may be it. But Danks' K rate is pretty in line with his mediocre WHIP. WHIP isn't the best metric. They gambled on stuff like FIP, xFIP and SIERA. Same with the guy they just got from Oakland, way better peripherals than ERA.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) I'd say it's pretty unlikely they call up Ravelo from AA. His power is increasing but still not where they'd want it (Nick Capra pointed to the need for more power from him recently), and he's 22 in AA. More likely they give Wilkins an audition in Chicago, though he's probably more auditioning for other teams than the Sox. Stranger things have happened though. Any thoughts on Ravelo potentially to the corner outfield, under the "couldn't possibly be worse than Viciedo" clause
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 05:38 AM) If the Yankees show interest, that's exactly what you ask for. Filling the catching void should be our #1 priority and few teams have multiple high-end prospects. The Yankees are a perfect match for us, just depends how desperate they are for SP and if they rely heavily on advanced metrics when evaluating Danks. One thing that could go against them going for Danks is that they clearly leaned on Brandon McCarthy's peripherals before making that deal.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 09:49 PM) To the people who want to get rid of Danks ... is it his contract or his ability? Both. He's 75th of 95 qualified starters in ERA, 85th of 95 in FIP, 92nd of 95 in xFIP and 89th of 95 in SIERA. He'll be 30 by the start of next season, has greatly reduced stuff and is owed about $35m over the next 2 and a half years. There are much better ways to spend that money, his performance is easily replaceable (and indeed it should be reasonably easy to improve upon) as it is and it's likely to get worse given his peripherals, his aging and his reduced stuff.
  19. Anyone know much about Dane Stone? Posted some really good K:BB ratios as a reliever with the Marlins between rookie ball and high-A, went to indie ball where he pitched well enough to get signed by the Sox and now has a 1.53 ERA with Great Falls in 5 starts. Obvious caveat is that he's 23 in rookie ball, but interesting numbers nonetheless: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P
  20. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:31 PM) Ravelo used to be a 3b, and now he switched to first. I doubt he can be much worse than Viciedo in the OF. I wonder why the sox haven't tried him there to maximize his bat. Not the whole story, but Viciedo is listed at 5'11"/230 and Ravelo at 6'2"/207. He also steals bases with much higher frequency than Viciedo did/does. I wouldn't be averse to a trial.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) One out of 8 ain't bad. The one out was a caught stealing. He also had 2 wild pitches.
  22. Henry Rodriguez 0.1 IP, 3H, 3ER, 4BB, 0K. As I was saying a while ago, there's trying to catch lightning in a bottle and then there's this guy. He's done.
