So will American Athletes be allowed to speak out against China's human rights record if they wish to? Don't know if it's really the best idea to annoy the world's next superpower though.

So Obama won Maine, giving him 4 states won over the past couple of days. And there's about 3 states due to go to the polls tomorrow right? Also, what are Obama's chances of winning in Texas or Ohio? Those 2 seem to be the big ones left, and the pattern seems to be Obama winning the smaller / medium states (and more of them), and Clinton winning the larger states. What impact will Obama winning either Texas or Ohio have on the overall shape of things?

Oh, well that's my bad then. Floyd would only be a starting point in negotiations though. Something like Richar + Shelby + MacDougal + Floyd for Roberts I'd imagine.
-
Floyd for Roberts would be a pretty terrible deal for us also. Giving up a back - end starter with 5 more years of service team for basically an aging 4th OF (unless he started for Quentin), is not exactly an ideal trade scenario on our part.

QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 06:38 AM) That wasn't what I said. Here's what I said... If you don't know what IMO means, it's "In My Opinion". What is that opinion based on? Playing 3B as well as anyone else in baseball for several seasons (the latter part of which has been with 2 herniated discs in his back, by the way), and his evolution into one of the better clutch hitters in the game. He's coming off his best full season (2006), and is probably in the prime of his career. If his back is healthy and the Sox trade him, I think it will be a big mistake. Why? Because Josh Fields has proven that he can hit the long ball, but at the expense of striking out almost 1/3 of the time and giving the Sox less than Joe Crede defense at the hot corner. There's no doubt Crede is a better defensive third baseman than Fields at this point. But there are still a lot of question marks with Joe. Can he get back to the hitter he was in 2006? And can you re-sign him to a long - term deal with Bora$$ as his agent? And do you want to take the risk in signing Crede to a long - term deal with his back? And I think Fields should at least improve his K rate as he matures in the upcoming years. Because what happens if you trade Fields, and then Crede bolts in FA? You've got no-one to play third base, and the Sox can't afford for that to happen.

Wallace for Q-Rich, Rose and Fred Jones I heard. Depends how desperate the Bulls are to get rid of him I suppose. One of Curry, Wallace and Randolph would have to come off the bench also which would be quite hilarious to watch.

Right now that deal looks terrible for Memphis no question. There's no instant help in that deal. Brown + Crittendon + 2 1st rounders and rights to Marc Gasol. But they need to remake that team in the image of Marc Iavaroni's uptempo style of basketball. They should now also have cap room to make a big acquisition in the off-season if they wish. They could trade Mike Miller for a 1st rounder and an expiring contract. What's the point in Memphis getting say a Nocioni + Wallace + a 1st deal for Gasol, when those players aren't going to help Memphis out of the rut they've gotten themselves into? Might as well tear the whole thing down, get younger, get picks, get cap space, and rebuild from scratch.

And there's a long belated win. Sounds like the Bulin Wall played well. Nice to get a bit of offense as well.

I don't know what's worse, the suit or the tie.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) And not a whiff of Vegemite anywhere in there?!? Are you sure you're Australian? I despise that stuff. National treasure, yeah right.

I guess I was looking at it from the point of view a team at the deadline who's in playoff contention, may look to trade for a real impact player, and Havlat could be that guy. The Dallas Stars for example I think are after another scorer for their lineup. Mike Smith plus a 1st rounder for Havlat could be an option maybe. As for the picks and the rebuilding, I look at the impact of Kane and Toews have had as 1st rounders, and I think we should be trying to get as many early picks as we can. Obviously Barker was one who was picked early and he hasn't had the impact, but D-Man do take longer to come on. You trade Havlat for picks / prospects, you're freeing up $6M to use in Free Agency to sign a scorer anyways.

So any tips on any unlikely foods that are really good protein sources? For example a typical day of food for me would be a breakfast of cereal, a bagel before I get to work (with nothing in it), a lunch consisting probably of some sort of foccacia / sandwich (it'll most likely have chicken in it), an apple / chocolate bar in the afternoon, some potato chips when I get home from work, dinner would probably be a Steak / Chicken / Fish with potatoes, carrots, beans, celery, lettuce and broccoli and Dessert would probably be some Ice - Cream or an Orange. (Waits for the you need to eat more posts..........).

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 03:55 AM) I know, it's just funny when you use Aussie slang. You should start calling me out when I use American slang, so that way its not just a one-sided relationship where I make fun of you all the time. Well you gotta give me some material here. As for this morning, I did 8 laps, 4 laps without stopping, so I'm making some progress. Except that I'm swimming in the slow lane (50M > 90 secs, although I probably should be in the medium now that I'm picking up the pace and my stroke a bit), and there's this really old guy doing a doggie paddle stroke or something, and I was stuck behind him for a 1/4 lap and it ruined my rhythm up completely so I had to stop after my 4th lap. That really grinds my gears. Go in the multi purpose lane if you're going to do that.

He's also a big "name" player which would only help to raise the profile of the team even more. But as Keith said, it all depends on the price and length. If you were the Hawks, would you be trying to trade Havlat for picks, or for a puck moving D-Man such as a Dan Boyle (even though you could just try to sign a Brian Campbell as a UFA in the off-season as well). The Hawks could end up with a top 3 pick in the draft if things keep going as they are. Any ideas on who the top prospects are, and how good the draft is this off-season?

If I was Phoenix or Memphis, I'd be doing what I could to get TT. Mike Miller could be a possible option. I wonder if the Bulls would have any interest in him (with Thabo running the point)?

QUOTE(A's fan @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) Al is the three point guy and webb is the low post guy who can bang with the bigger guys. I've also heard some rumblings about GS going after Artest. How often do the Warriors play "big" though? And when they do, Biedrins usually starts. Webber may have some impact off the bench, but I certainly wouldn't be counting on him starting. Any of the Bulls fans notice Thabo had a pretty nice game in Portland last night? Bulls only went down by 3 without Gordon or Hinrich as well.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) It's 3:45 am and I'm the only one logged on. Weird. Finally everyone here agrees with me. Welcome to my world.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) I also do not understand how you did 5 50m laps, but stopped after doing 2. Aussie Slang 101 - Buggered = Exhausted / Tired. And I took a break after 2 (terrible I know). I didn't stop and get out of the pool.
-
Well my take is, unless there's a really good veteran coach out there e.g a Ken Hitchcock, you don't replace a guy and have him basically "learn on the job" as well. Savvy has his faults obviously, but he deserves a chance to get us out of this mess IMHO. Craig MacTavish might be under a little pressure in Edmonton, Jacques Martin in Florida. Would anyone take any of those 2?
-
The Sox brass seem pretty high on Contreras coming into this season. He's the difference maker IMHO. From the middle of 2005 to mid 2006, he was argubly the best pitcher in baseball. If he could somehow get back to being that dominating pitcher who was so hard to hit with that dominant fastball / splitter combo, the Sox would be a much better ballclub. As for Danks / Floyd, even though I think Danks probably has the better potential of the 2, I'm more confident with Gavin coming into this season. He did impress me in those last 6 starts he had. The key for him is to keep the ball in the ballpark.
-
Well their offenses are still probably better then ours at this stage, so they can make up for it that way.
-
Who's the best option out there realistically to replace Savvy though?
-
How often is that though? The Warriors have Harrington at PF and Biedrins at C. When they go small, Harrington moves to C and Biedrins goes to the bench. I find it hard to believe that Webber would be a better option than Harrington at their respective points of their careers.
-
Who is confident though of having 2 out of the group of Contreras, Danks and Floyd winning more than 10-13 games and posting an ERA around the 4.50 mark? Because I think that'll be the ultimate difference maker for us this season. We know the pen should be improved and the offense will be better.

SnB, Heads and I should start the Biggest "Winner" then.
