  1. Just on Gilbert, do you still think he gets a max deal in the off-season, coming off 2 knee surgeries?
  2. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 06:40 AM) I agree with you for the most part Balta, especially about the RB talent part. With their late 1st taken away by the NFL, I could see them trading down and addressing the LB position and maybe a safety. Laurence Maroney and Sammy Morris do a good enough job when called upon and healthy. Some kind of package of Dallas' first round picks and Marion Barber for the chance to draft McFadden might be interesting for both teams. Yeah that could be possible. I still think although trading up for McFadden is the "sexy" move, the smart move would be to keep the draft picks, and draft a CB and a young big nose tackle that would fit in the 3-4. Yesterday's game showed that the Cowboys still have problems on defense that need fixing. Offensively, they're fine. And I want Barber back, although with Drew Rosenhaus as his agent, that could be an interesting situation. I wonder if the Bears would target him possibly if he hit FA?
  3. If there's no-one better in UFA than Schneider, then I wouldn't mind it. Yeah it's a lot to pay someone for next season, but Schneider is a good puck moving offensive d-man, who hopefully still has something left. And we get rid of Sammy who has basically done nothin. And in 2 years we'll have some big contracts coming off the books, so it'll be nice to have some cap flexibility there.
  4. Seems as if the Pirates brass are after some good young pitching. Would you offer say Gio, Lucy and Quentin for Bay?
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) Gosh damn Byfuglien's got some hands. He seems to be carving out a role on the wing on one of the top 2 lines. Hopefully he can keep it up. As for the result, another frustrating loss. Right now, I think the Hawks are really just lacking a #1 D-Man. Sopel and Keith have been good, Seabrook seems to be progressing, but right now I think they're more #3-4 type D-Men. Not sure who is available in FA, but with LaPointe's salary coming off the books (not sure if Samsonov is either, otherwise he will probably be bought out), this team needs to upgrade there. And does anyone know how Cam Barker is progressing at Rockford? Because he's got the potential to be a #1 defenseman, but I don't know if we're ever going to see it, albeit he still is very young.
  6. Krivsky and Baker must be desperate to win now. Bailey's stock has slipped a little though. He was a bonafide top 5 prospect this time last year, now I'm not so sure. Maybe it is a good time to sell high on him while they still can. Dusty would have driven him into the ground anyway, if he was a part of their rotation.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 12:09 PM) I think I would like Rosetta Stone for Spanish. And a new job. Maybe teaching English. In Korea. Hopefully in Seoul and not in Pyongyang right?
  8. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 05:53 AM) Jesus. DB, you need to write clearer for the slow people on here like myself. Ha. Now come on what else would sunnies imply? Right now I have my $2 pair from the Kuala Lumpur Market that I have used for way too long, it's time to upgrade. I suppose in Chicago you don't see the sun much though, so you probably don't need them.
  9. There was a rumor that Jerry Jones wanted to trade the 2 1st rounders plus a player for Miami's #1 pick so that they could draft McFadden. Apparently the logic was Romo - McFadden - Owens would be the current version of Aikman - Smith - Irvin. I hope we don't do that though. Barber's a #1 back IMHO, I'd rather draft at least 1 CB in the 1st round, and maybe a SS that can cover the pass better than Williams (or a replacement for Julius Jones). I can see it happening though.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) The Packers lost their best weapon midway through the game; and no, baseball does not equal football. Dallas is a rather unimpressive team, especially compared to the big AFL teams...unlike baseball, the better team with a better idea will win much more often. Besides, I didn't start this to talk about the Cowboys as a whole -- just Romo. He isn't all that hot, and I still remember him as the crybaby on the sidelines. We'll see what happens, but I'd be surprised if Dallas beats Green Bay in the playoffs and they definitely won't beat the Patriots unless Belichick and Brady and Moss all have heart attacks before gametime. 1. Favre was playing terrible in that game before he got hurt. Rodgers played much better when he came on. So Favre was hardly a "weapon" in that contest. 2. Dallas is still 12-1, unimpressive or not. 3. The Cowboys will have home field advantage it appears. That's an advantage against the Packers. 4. You're trying to make this a Brady vs. Romo argument, saying how Romo ain't that good. Brady's had an amazing season, and is surely the MVP. But any other season, Romo's close to putting up MVP numbers. He has a great supporting cast, but his ability to avoid the rush and make plays on the fly makes him one of the top 3 QB's in the NFL. 5. Well with the way the Pats have looked recently, you can't take anything for granted. The Cowboys just need a 3rd CB to cover Wes Welker, and I think they could give them a run for their money, but we'll see.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) So why would Anaheim even bother? Just to make headlines? Because they need another power hitter to protect Vlad in the lineup. They have enough hitters around the middle part of the lineup, with the likes of Hunter, Matthews, Kendrick etc., but they still need a 30HR guy in there. Konerko would suit them nicely. It obviously depends if they're willing to take on some more salary though.
  12. Well you can only beat the teams that are laid out in front of you. The Packers are decent, and do have a good pass D (CB's are better than the Pats). Did the Cards prove anything in 2006, even though a lot of people consider them one of the weakest teams to win a World Series of all time? All I know is, Romo is a better QB than he was last season, there is absolutely no doubt about that. He was terrible for the most part in that Seattle game as well, missing a lot of throws. It shouldn't be hard for him to play a better level in the playoffs than that game.
  13. A good team. Ok so let's say the Cowboys make it to the Superbowl. Romo still won't have proven anything because he hasn't beaten a "good" team in the playoffs yet right?
  14. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Would you rather they just cut you? I am basically bottom of the food chain where I work anyways. So I'll just keep my job thank you very much.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) Just because someone puts up mid 3 ERA for one season in the national league west doesn't mean they can consistently retire AL Central hitters. There's a reason why no one is willing to guarantee him 2 years. Now a days he pitches to contact but his stuff isn't nearly good enough to get away with it. Does that mean we should be majorly worried about Scott Linebrink then?
  16. Yeah the Hawks have been playing well lately, but they need to actually get a result and pick up a win. And they should get it against Calgary. That Keenan hire really worked wonders didn't it.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) Idonno how you can justify firing a first year coach. Especially when you trade 2 of your better recievers in an already depleted offense and have no legit QB, one of the worse O-Lines in the game, and your 1 star player(ronnie brown) is out for season. Well maybe they need to look at canning Randy Mueller instead. They've had years to fix the O-Line and never done it. They've got an aging defense, and I think they'll be down the bottom for the next couple of seasons as well. Maybe I just don't rate Cameron though.
  18. QUOTE(Lemon_44 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 08:26 AM) Doesn't Anaheim need some left handers in the bullpen. If Crede shows healthy, give them Crede and either Logan or Thornton for Figgins. I don't understnad all the love for Willits. It's not hard to find guys like him. Owens can be every bit the player Willits is. Konerko is a much greater value than Kotchman. You can pretty much put up .270/30/100 for Konerko. Who knows what Kotchman will develop into. You may get a higher average but, i don't think, you get anywhere near the overall production. Then you throw in the leadership factor Konerko has in the clubhouse and it's even more one-sided. Is Jerry Owens ever going to be close to having a .397 OBP in a season as Willits had this year? I seriously doubt that.
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 08:41 AM) What exactly has Kotchman proven? That he has had injury problems and doesn't hit for much pop? I like Kotcham, but a pretty much Konerko for Kotchman deal would be terrible. 1. I never suggested that deal straight up. Konerko for Kotchman and Willits was my suggestion. 2. That power may increase in the future for Kotchman. 3. Konerko has that arthritic hip. So they both have had injury problems. Not to mention, this team just needs to get younger as well.
  20. That's great. Agent Zero keepin it real. He's spot on too with his analysis of things there. The Okafor / Howard comparison especially.
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 08:16 AM) the Dolphins suck at football and holding on to it. 8 fumbles; that's gotta be some kind of record Surely Cameron gets canned right? They should think about bringing back Jason Garrett.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 08:03 AM) Romo fumbles and the idiot LB for Detroit tries to pick it up and run for it but kicks it back to Dallas lineman. Dallas is gonna pull this one out. Only the Lions. All he had to do was fall on it. I missed the last qtr so this will make for entertaining viewing tonight. Don't know how we pulled it out, but it should be a major wake up call, especially for our run defense. What a game for Witten. Too bad he almost ruined it with the fumble.
  23. A new suit, new sunnies, and a new satchel / laptop bag.
  24. QUOTE(shipps @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) Had the company Christmas party last night.Oh how people can make asses of themselves. It was too funny, and they should already know going into it that if you do or say something stupid it will stick with you for a long time. Why do people continue to make that mistake every year? I have mine next weekend. It's meant to be black tie (e.g tuxedo), but I don't think anyone from my department will be wearing that. And they've cut back from a fancy sitdown dinner at a major casino to a cocktail party at some place I've never heard of. "Gotta cut costs from somewhere!!!!"
