  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) I just had 2 exams in 15 hours... Yeah but you're doing easy subjects aren't you?
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) The Twins 1st place finishes were always discounted, too. I'll take a few more from the sox. The media always loves a good story, like a young team seemingly on the rise, over a scrappy bunch of veterans. Whether Clev. can do anything, who knows. But the sox team isn't exactly filled with overachievers, who had career yrs. They have plenty of room for improvement, esp offensively. Frankly if Cleveland don't get Millwood re-signed, they're in trouble. Elarton's a FA too, and those two were their best 2nd half pitchers. Unless they signed 2 FA SP's to replace em, you'd have the likes of Jason Davis filling in, which hardly inspires confidence. And as you say, we've got room to improve offensively as well, and that could also come from a trade. We shouldn't naturally assume the pitching is going to be as good, because if you make assumptions in this game it'll come back to haunt ya, so we'll need to score more runs and if the pitching is as good as it was this season, well we'll be in even better shape.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) He only gave up two earned runs in 7 innings against Houston. And don't forget the gem he threw against the Angels in game 3. Yeah I'm probably nitpicking too much. Let's hope Jon can keep pitching like he did in 2005 and only keeps getting better.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) I'll step up to the plate on that one. I believe, barring injury, Garland's value will just continue to climb for a couple of years. He's always had the talent, and this year, he finally learned how to pitch. He's just coming into his own as a big time pitcher. I always thought he had a lot of talent too YAS, (and I remember this time last year we'd have these discussions that we needed to keep him, otherwise he would reach his potential somewhere else) but I don't know if he can continue to be an 18 game winner with a K/BB ratio of 115/47, although if the Sox keep their infield defense the way it is, he's certainly got a good chance to keep those numbers. I suppose I'm just a little leery with the way he finished off the season, and the way Houston got to him in game 3. He just needs to improve against lefties (.267, 19 of 26 HR's). If he can do that, he'll be on the Southside for a long, long time. Plus there's not much b/w his home and away splits, which is also an excellent sign.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) I think they're doing only 5 teams: Sawx, yanks, cubs, dodgers, stros. I think, not sure about that. So who's he gonna impersonate from the Dodgers? That'll be good.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) I hate when people say Orton is 5-3..... Orton is not 5-3 the Bears are 5-3 and to be honest he has very little to do with those wins. If Orton was contributing to the wins and part of the reason we are winning id say keep him in.... but right now he is Michael Vick w/out the speed And I think a lot of that has to do with the easy schedule the Bears have had. Once you start playing teams like Carolina etc. if Orton struggles against those teams, then the Grossman calls will probably start coming. It's a tough situation though. I heard the same excuses with Krenzel last year, because he won 3 in a row, then you guys played us, and he was terrible. Of course only having 1 good weapon to throw to doesn't help much.
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...rticleid=111103 Manny-to-Mets trade is alive "The centerpiece of the deal, coming from the Mets’ side, would be center fielder Mike Cameron and two of the following three prospects: outfielder Lastings Milledge and right-handers Aaron Heilman and Yusmeiro Petit." Wow if Boston gets Cameron, Milledge AND Petit, damn they've done well. Could free up salary for a Troy Glaus trade as well.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Player 1: 2004 Aaron Rowand Player 2: 2005 Chad Tracy A winner is me! Interesting comparison no doubt. We'll see how Tracy does next season, although a .982 OPS in the 2nd half of 2005 certainly is a good way to into 2006.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) Letting Konerko go and putting Rogowski at first base is just asking to suck next season. Rogo needs a year in AAA, although his BA was heartening down at B-Ham. I doubt he'll hit for anything more than 15-20 HR's in a full season though. J.T Snow like.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Actually I think the Sporting News award may be the main award. IRRC, didn't Ozzie win the Sporting News Manager of the Year Award? Do the other GM's vote on the award, because that's what they did with Ozzie's (rmember Macha had 4 votes, Guillen only had 5)?
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) It's because of that awesome Juan Gonzalez signing. Don't forget that Aaron Boone signing was a real doozy too. It seems the media has jumped on board the Cleveland "Youth Movement" and is cheerleading them to awards and the World Series in 2006. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way, as the White Sox showed this season.
  12. I'll put it this way, if Kyle Orton was the QB of the New Orleans Saints, would they make the playoffs? Orton should be very thankful for such a great defense and good running game. I've always thought Grossman has more talent, and if anything, could help give the Bears that extra edge if they make the playoffs. Teams are just going to put 8 players in the box, blitz Orton, and dare him to beat you through the air. That said I doubt they make a change. They may even look into trading Rex to a team like Arizona if they could get a nice return back. But then the Bears would have to sign a veteran QB, something Angelo's record doesn't have a good feel for.
  13. Question for Soxfan1, if Moss is so good, and the Raiders are developing a running game, why do Jordan and Porter have almost 40 receptions each, and Moss only 26. Yeah Moss has had a hamstring injury, but he hasn't done much in Oakland so far.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Eagles pass to To and Westbrook...thats it. L.J Smith and Greg Lewis would disagree with you there; Owens 47 REC Westbrook 43 REC Smith 36 REC Lewis 31 REC And Reggie Brown's going to be a big part of their passing attack too now.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I suppose that 4th down wasn't considered a clutch moment for you, WSJ. Brady has more Y/A then Manning in this game. He's better.
  16. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) I definately had the Colts in this one. I had the feeling Manning and Co. were ready for a big offensive showing against the Pats. The Pats secondary was toast anyways. No wonder Marvin and Reggie have 14 catches b/w em.
  17. QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) f*** all the nba zebra f*** em all Marv Albert wasn't commentating again was he?
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Finley 0 for 11. OUCH. Bingo.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) Ak-47 only had seven blocks today. What a mad fantasy player. Could be top 5 if he actually got thru a whole season.
  20. 2 exams done in 16 hours. It's time like these I don't appreciate Uni.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) QUIT PLAYING LIKE A b**** TYSON DUNCAN JUST RAPPED YOU YOU f***ING PUSSY Sounds like somebody wants an upgrade at Center.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) We don't use that silly metric system in America. Anyways, TO = Cancer. Didn't AJ = Cancer? A.J didn't get kicked off two teams, and didn't complain about his contract.
