It depends on the player and their situation. Say for instance B.J Ryan, could take a little less money and not be a closer to help him win a World Series Ring. And personally I think more players should be like him, because that's what you play Baseball for. And I know Tex we've discussed quite a bit on this over the last year or 2 about this subject, like Maggilo Ordonez getting that offer from Detroit, but you know right now he would probably like to be back with the White Sox after the success we've had. And signing a big contract, doesn't necessarily make you happy. Ivan Rodriguez is an excellent candidate to be traded because he wants to win, and the team may use that money elsewhere etc.

Can I release one called "Bullet in PA?" I kid because I care. (Now there's a phrase we haven't heard in a while).

Is there a team NOT after Scott Eyre this off-season? I think he'll stick with his Southern California Roots, and re-sign with the Giants FWIW.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Citizens Bank is a hitter's park but the Cell is even moreso. I would guess that Abreu's home numbers would at least stay the same if not improve at the Cell. He still had an .804 OPS on the road. That's not bad. I actually think Citizens is more of a hitters park than the Cell right now, and sure you could make the excuse that the Cell gave up less runs because there's much better pitching than at Philly. But if you look at say White Sox hitters at home compared to Philly hitters at home, only Iguchi, Konerko, Dye and Rowand had better home splits, while out of everyday players for the Phillies, only David Bell had an average below .250. I think in previous years, the Cell may have been more of a hitters stadium, but this year Citizens was moreso, even though you could argue the White Sox lost quite a bit of power in Lee, Ordonez and Valentin.

I think a key with Abreu is him getting back to that Pre ASB swing of his. Let's have a look at some stats here; He hits better against righties, obviously which is a plus. His home and away splits are a little alarming though; HOME - .304/.423/.535 AWAY - .268/.387/.417 And you gotta remember he's what 31 now, and will be 32 at the start of next season. It's not likely he's going to have 31 steals again, even if Ozzie will run him a lot, he only had 10 stolen bases in 73 games after the ASB. It's a risk, and I think other teams who are really desperate for a bat like Toronto, and have the payroll to really go for him, will possibly do so, if he's available. But Gillick's trying to move Thome first of course.

So yeah I actually downloaded a couple of episodes of this the other day, of season 2. May have to download some for season 3 as well.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Mmmm, Krusty Burger. . . Lou - "Well, at McDonald's you can buy a Krusty Burger with cheese, right? But they don't call it a Krusty Burger with cheese." Wiggum - "Get out! Well, what do they call it?" Lou - "A Quarter Pounder with cheese." Wiggum - "Quarter Pounder with cheese? Well, I can picture the cheese, but, uh, do they have Krusty partially gelatinated non-dairy gum-based beverages?" Lou - "Mm-hm. They call 'em, "shakes."

So the Hawks have won 3 out of their last 4. Khabi seems to be gettin a little better, and Seabrook lots real good for a rookie.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) As would I. Kreutz has been the leader of this team for the last 4, 5 years. I have also not heard a thing about this "punch" I think I saw the Tribune and Sun-Times report it. Maybe Miller ain't really "fitting - in" if you catch my drift.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) I feel properly schooled now. Hey I just took a course on that type of stuff. I come on here to get away from it.

Freaky. I was reading this thread before I had a job interview today, and I come back and it's been bumped. Hopefully I get it. I think they were impressed with my skills and it fits the vacation job I'm going for. Helps that my sister works at the place though.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) He's signed at a very affordable rate and will be back again next year. No reason not to. Plus you need to have depth and when you plan on playing smash mouth football its key to have not just one good back, but a couple and the Bears have that. In fact you could argue they have one very good back (Jones), one potentially great back (Benson) and one solid back (Peterson). But I may be over-rating all of them, cause I really think the oline deserves a lot of the credit (they rarely get the credit when an RB does good, but they always get the flack when an RB struggles). This year the Bears line has been one of the better ones in the league. Isn't Jones signed to about a 4 year $10M deal? Seems pretty damn good, considering the current marketplace and demands for RB's and their contracts.

Wite, you could look at it from the point of view that Shea Stadium has really dented his power, but then I came across these splits from 2005; HOME - .277/.354/.475 AWAY - .224/.296/.429 Add to that, he hits lefties better, count me out. Gimme Durazo for around the same price.

Bears impending QB "controversy"?

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) who on offense has had a better year as a rookie. He will end up leading (by that i mean because he is a QB and the QB is technically the leader on the field when his team has the ball) to the playoffs. For a Rookie QB on a team that everyone picked for last that will win you Offensive ROY. BWAHAHAHAHA. This is like saying David Carr deserved the ROY in his Rookie Year (and he was getting sacked more BTW). Brown in a 2 back system. Well Brown is getting carries on about a 2 to 1 ratio, and rushing much better than Williams. He could easily have 1000 yards by the end of the season. And did you forget some other people? Heath Miller? -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Minny seems to be stepping it up some. They won again against the Giants and now are only 1 game below 500 and 2 behind us. I don't know how the hell they beat the Giants today, but as a Cowboys fan, I'll gladly take it. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) It's all unproven speculation. I'd like to see Rowand to NYY for Wang. Then, send Contreras, Marte and El Duque to Florida for Delgado and cash. Anderson can play cf and Delgado can be the DH or 1b depending on the Konerko situation. Buy low, sell high. Rowand and Contreras are peaking in the eyes of many right now. Now is the time to make a move. No way would the Yankees trade Wang for Rowand, they pretty much won't trade Wang unless it's for an elite player. I don't know how you can say Rowand's peaking though, after rhe year he had. Sure he was great defensively, but not offensively. And I wouldn't give up all those pitchers for Delgado. Remember, starting pitching was the formula that got us the World Series. There's no point in trading 2 of our starters (and I'm including El Duque in that, because if we traded 1 he would be the replacement), without being able to sign a good FA SP, and there's not a lot on the market, besides A.J Burnett and Jarrod Washburn.
