QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) Since you insist on making this hard... how tall are you then. Flop on aim when you get a chance. About 5'8, so not that tall.

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) I could see a stadium for the Marlins in Orlando. Then, the D'Rays would move to Charlotte. The Magic have enough trouble trying to get a new better stadium built for themselves, I'd imagine they'd try to do that 1st, otherwise they may also relocate. I could see Portland possibly making sense though.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) The question is: how tall is he? I kid, I kid. No, seriously, how tall is he? Not that tall, he's about my height, got a big head though. I heard him talkin about wearing a kilt to the XMas Party and having a naked rundown, so that can only be good.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Fact is that Anderson proved to be nothing special.. How can you say that after an extremely small sample size? Yeesh.

I wonder what Alex Escobar has been doing this off-season................ (no crazy Jim Bowden fantasies please).

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) Bill Mueller who hit .295 and has an OBP of .369 would be a backup to Joe Crede who hit .252 with an OBP of .303??? Some people need to put down the Rally Crede pipe a few times. Why does OBP tend to be the end all - be all stat, when it comes to offensive numbers. Is Joe Crede's job to get ON BASE? No, it isn't. Alfonso Soriano doesn't get on base at a great rate, does that not make him a good offensive player? No, it doesn't. Because there's a stat called OPS. Joe Crede in 4 out of the 6 months in 2005 had a +.800 OPS, which would put him in around the top 5 - top 10 mark for qualified third baseman (and you have to remember one of those months, was when he injured). We need to keep at least some power in this lineup. Konerko goes, and say we bring in a DH who doesn't hit 40HR's like Konerko did. We can't just lose more production like that, and Mueller's more likely to regress over the coming years, while Crede should be coming into his prime. But I think this may have come up because the Sox are having trouble trying to lock Joe down into a 3 year deal unfortunately.

I spent 2 hours today in a basic I.T course learning how to use Microsoft Outlook at the 2nd day of new job. Mark that down on the most exciting things I've done. And oh yeah Soxy, the guy I'm sitting next to, he's Scottish (but he's a Hearts Supporter).

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Tell that to the 9 offenses that score less than the Bears The Bears have scored 112 points from passing and rushing (including extra points). For 10 games that's 11.2 points from the offense per game. Of course then you've got 30 points from field goals. So that's 142 out of 169 points, which means 7 points for returns (Wade's TD) and the other 20 from the defense. Then the Bears are 28th in total offense and 30th in passing offense. Only Buffalo, San Francisco, Houston and New York average less yards then the Bears. Basically, if the Bears didn't have a running game, great defense or not, they'd be screwed.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) It's child abuse to allow a kid to watch the Bears' offense. Haha, I'll give you credit for that one Alex.

Maybe if Garnett went off at Glen Taylor instead of Kevin McHale, then yeah his chances of getting dealt would signifcantly increase. But how bout a nice little Steve Francis, Kelvin Cato and DeShawn Stevenson package eh Kevin?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) I wonder who is making this offer for the Red Sox. Yeah, I always thought Ramirez was untouchable over there. Maybe not now, perhaps.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/spor...677_mari21.html M's to sign Japanese catcher Johjima Torrealba could make sense for a team like Detroit possibly if they wanted to trade Ivan Rodriguez. An I-Rod for Javier Vazquez swap, with salary and prospects going Arizona's way perhaps?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Rogers couldn't get a multiyear deal two years ago. It shows how desperate the market is for above average starting pitching.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) ^ Sig bet with Jas... Lots of gems in this thread! Bumping up old threads are we now. Who knew Jamal Lewis's feet would turn into cement.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) And he fits the mold for Ozzie's call for more speed and a new #2 hitter--can handle the bat [one of the best bunters in baseball]; get on base, hit for avg, and steal bases Besides adding a new DH who fits this mold--not many I can think of--getting a new #2 hitter means a position player has to be moved. I suppose you have to look at it from the aspect does Pierre's improvements on the offensive end outweigh Rowand's better capabilities on the defensive end. And you have to weigh up who's more likely to rebound to their 2004 numbers as well.
-
I think one aspect that's been overlooked a little is how Pierre could really get back to some good numbers here with the bat. Kind of reminds me of Juan Uribe, when he first came here and had an excellent first season for us. After he hit .287 for Colorado in his final season, he hit .305 for Florida in his first season there. I'd expect him to put up similar numbers to that, with about a .360 OBP.

Don't stop there Alex, you should make this a weekly thing.

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 06:54 PM) If the Texans were smart, they'd trade down to get two 1st rounders. Get two OLs or maybe an OL and a WR. I'm assuming if a new coach is brought in and he has a 4-3 defense, they may try to draft a DT as well. But it all starts with that OL. Whoever they've got coaching it, ain't doing the job. They need to try and sign a Hudson Houck etc.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) His 2005 AAA numbers were pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind something like the following lineup: You have to remember the PCL is a real hitters league. .338/.399/.561 splits aren't bad at all. But Gonzalez is 23 and hasn't shown a lot of power as 3E8 said. He is very similar to someone like Conor Jackson though. The power will probably eventually come in the future.

Hawks beat Edmonton 4-3 tonite. Bourque with 2 goals, and Anderson with 33 saves.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 06:15 AM) I understand the suits, but the shorts? Are you working in Bermuda? Shorts = Shoes. I'd had a long day.

QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) True, but he's not bound to make probably $6+ million Then again, we might have prospects ready to take both their spots in 2007. I'm not really sure how far along they are, but I'm pretty sure Sweeney is projected for a 2007 debut. Personally I can't see Sweeney being up until 2008. He's shown no power at all in AA, and I don't think you'll see a HUGE improvement from him in that aspect, although no doubt it should improve. Right now, Anderson, Owens and Young would be ahead of him to be used in the majors.
