Looks like the 5th year is needed now, will be interesting to see if the Cards do this, or else he's probably headed to Toronto; And on top of that, looks like the Reds are going to deal one of their OF's possibly.

BWAHAHAHAHA I love it;
-
Wow, yesterday it seemes he was about to become a D-Back; I wonder who the minor leaguer is, if it's not Milledge?

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Wonderwall. That's the one.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) I think it was pretty obvious he was just exaggerating for the fact that there is no way Jon is going anywhere. I'd still be open to dealing Jon, if the right deal came along, but looking at our team, and what we need to succeed in terms of good pitching (e.g the market value of Free Agent Pitchers), that ain't gonna happen.

Some kid yanking on Santa's Beard at my Other Job today. That gave me a laugh. He covered beautifully though.

That Oasis song 10 years ago, Today is Gonna be the Day or sumthin like that.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) It's nice to have Juan Uribe for that gigantic contract we gave him last offseason. Remember Anthrax arguing last off-season about how terrible that deal was, and how'd we could get Furcal for about $7-8M? OOPS.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Only 5 per year? WTF! Perhaps KW can clear some room (Marte) and pick Jones up. I wouldn't mind having him in LF....or in center actually. Jacque Jones in 2005. .249/.319/.438. That's a .757 OPS for a corner OF. Plus he had a .617 OPS against lefties, so you'd have to platoon him. For comparison's sake, Aaron Rowand had a .736 OPS, and you know he wasn't good offensively in 2005, besides his "CLUTCHINESS". But some team desperate for an OF will give him $5M. That won't be us however.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) and from what I can tell Billy Beane loves good looking white pitchers Did anyone else find this a bit weird?

Somewhere Paul DePodesta is laughing and Jim Hendry is crying. Good Times.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Willie Harris wouldn't be a bad fit for the Marlins. Few teams are going to be giving up position players who can play right away. With what the Marlins got for Castillo--locked up for 2, possibly 3 yrs--Pierre's price shouldn't be high Munoz and Harris for Pierre. I'm sure we'd do that in a second, but Florida shouldn't, but hey after what they got for Castillo, you never know.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) AO is right about one thing. Do not count out the Twins. This year could have been the beginning of tailspin, or they could rebound and be right in the thick of it next year. I'm betting on the latter. No way should anyone count them out in 2006, depending on their acquisitions etc. With Liriano joining the rotation, that should be better, and if they sign 2 more good hitters (1 to replace Jones), their offense should be better as well. But we've earned the right to go into 2006 as the favorites (even though the media is predicting a Tribe World Series Win in 2006).

And now this on Abreu;

More news;

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) I'm more interested where Morris goes. He wants to stay in the NL, so I think a team like the Giants possibly could make some sense.
-
Josh, do you honestly think the media is going to give Frank Thomas a standing ovation after what's happened throughout his career?
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) i hope you know I am not serious right? I do think the Bears will win by double digits. 35-10. I can never tell with you. I don't think anyone can.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Yeah, of course there's the issue of the D-Backs payroll, they've got to get down to 60M (were at about 67M for 2005, IIRC.). If they trade Glaus, that opens up some room right there. With Lo - Duca making $7M, most of that will get taken up though, but they've got Vazquez to deal as well, so that'll help. With them losing Stinnett as well to the Yanks, they do need a veteran catcher, as here's what they posted; Stinnett - .248/.317/.419 Hill - .218/.308/.282 Snyder - .202/.297/.301 Score 1 for me;
-
Jim Hendry, the ball's in your court;

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Wow I didnt even know the Cardinals were interested in him.... Although he has nasty stuff I dont even consider him an upgrade over Morris I do. Dave Duncan can probably get him pitching a bit better, plus Morris's ERA this season was 4.11 and it was 4.72 in 2004. Will be interesting to see how Burnett pitches away from Pro Player though.
-
Wow, if he's just settling for a 4 year deal. IIRC they offered him 40M over those 4 years. He definitely could have gotten more or a longer deal. Looks like the Blue Jays may have to move Batista into the rotation now.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) You forgot to put 15 down my friend. I went with 10 because that was the highest. BEEAAAARRRRS BY A 15 TOUCHDOWNS MY FRIEND! After Kyle Orton leads Da Bears to 35 points in the first half with 5 touchdown passes and the defense adds 2 more my friend with a fumble and touchdown off one of Favre 5 interceptions in the first half. Thomas Jones rushes for one with 132 yards rushing my friend. 56 PointsBEARS! Jeff Blake takes over for him and throws throws 5 touchdown passes Justin Gage. After that the defense takes care of the rest! 105 to nothing for BEEAARRS! PS: BTW I did see Jeff Blake at my local Best Buy yesterday. Great guy. I pointed at my bears hat and gave me the thumbs up. I told him to make sure he was healthy because he would take over for Kyle Orton in the 2nd Quarter after the Bears were up 56-0. Heads should you take the ball and run with this or me?
