  1. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) thinking the bears will score more than 2 tds is pushing it, imo. well, their offense scoring more than 2 anyway... The Bears will score more from Favre's INT's and forced fumbles from the Packers offense then they will from their own offense.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) I still don't see the point of moving Gooch out of the 1 spot. If Ozzie really believes he can produce more at 6 then I will trust him but having Gooc bat 2nd last season did not hurt at all. Well you've got to look at it from the point of view, that's it's going to increase our power production. Gooch could easily hit 20 HR's down lower in the order, while you're not going to lose much from Uribe moving up in the order, where he showed in 2004 that he had pretty good numbers there.
  3. QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) well, heads should roll in head offices then The Mets have got that new TV deal starting, so they won't care how much they spend really, even though it ain't really right. On another topic, I wonder how Steve Phillips is feeling right now.
  4. I know Jason rates Erstad very highly, but I don't want a guy with a .696 OPS (albeit that's probably improve a little at the Cell), anywhere in my lineup. Anderson's a better bet to beat that, plus he's younger and less injury prone. And yeah, I'd deal Munoz and another young pitcher (so long as it ain't a very good prospect) for Pierre. But I also agree with the sentiment that it's probably time to let our young OF's to show what they can do at the Major League Level starting with Anderson. Right now, the Sox just have to ask themselves, whether Juan Uribe is going to be able to handle himself at the #2 hole. If they think they can, then I don't they're gonna deal for Pierre. Of course with Pierre, there's the issue of him just being under our control for 1 season, but I'd trust KW to get something done long - term if that's the path they wanted to take. But then you've got Pods as well (IIRC he's out of contract 2006), so they will probably have to make a choice there, with Owens, Young and Sweeney waiting in the wings.
  5. I'm still holding out hope a team like the Blue-Jays, Orioles or A's comes in and gets Frank. I have a lot of respect for the Twins as an organization for the way they handle themselves with the payroll they have etc., but as a White Sox fan I just hate em for how they played for this decade before 2005. So I really don't wanna see Frank there at all. Hopefully they sign Everett to DH there instead.
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) Ahh D-Backs. Good call. Makes a lot of sense Yeah, of course there's the issue of the D-Backs payroll, they've got to get down to 60M (were at about 67M for 2005, IIRC.). If they trade Glaus, that opens up some room right there. With Lo - Duca making $7M, most of that will get taken up though, but they've got Vazquez to deal as well, so that'll help. With them losing Stinnett as well to the Yanks, they do need a veteran catcher, as here's what they posted; Stinnett - .248/.317/.419 Hill - .218/.308/.282 Snyder - .202/.297/.301
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) When Morneau figures out how to hit like a major leaguer and not like a reincarnation of Joe Borchard then give us a jingle on their chances. Over/Under on number of times Mauer is on the DL with his knees. Morneau's going to be very interesting to watch next season, and then there's the issue of him and Torii Hunter in the clubhouse (if you remember them going at it late last season). Either way, they need him to step up in a big way. But their rotation will be better next season with the addition of Liriano and or Baker for Mays and or Lohse (if he's traded).
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Luck? :rolly Too bad we're not going to hear that argument from the other side now is it.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) 1.) It's Gado... 2.) No, he will not get more than 10 yards. I got the K's mixed up from his first name to the second. Oh and another question, will he fumble more than twice in this game?
  10. I think the question you should be asking is whether Gadko is going to rush for more than 10 yards or not.
  11. I think Lo Duca will probably end up in Arizona, since the Dodgers are really under budget constraints right now. Of course, when you've got catchers on the markets like Molina, Hernandez and Ausmus still, you probably won't see a move there for a while. But this is a really good trade for the Twins, for the obvious reasons, when you look at Luis Rivas who they've had for the past few seasons and Nick Punto and compare them with Luis Castillo. Plus they didn't have to give up one of their good bullpen arms either, although Bowyer could definitely be Florida's closer in the future.
  12. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) he had never really pitched above A ball... However he stepped up huge in Spring Training and changed alot of people's minds... That is incorrect; 2004 - Low A - 8-5, 3.64 ERA High A - 6-0, 2.48 ERA AA - 3-1, 3.46 ERA
  13. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) With AJ burentt being the best the FA market has to offer, why not try and unload Garland now while his stock is high.. But before we do that have the Sox offer their best 3 year deal, if he rejects then try and trade him at the winter meetings. Persnoally with Azi, wanting him trade and swing a deal that lands Webb here.. I know that is a long shot,but Buy LOW Sell High.. Webb for Garland. Why would Arizona do that, when they have Javier Vazquez demanding to be traded, and would like to acquire MORE pitching. If Garland is traded to the D-Backs, it's for a hitter.
  14. My thoughts have been pretty much echoed in this thread. It's really a tough situation. You know it's not right what's happening, but if you step in, you could make it worse for the child even though you didn't mean it and that's not what you want to get out of it. Unfortunately some parents are just like that, and it's sad and not fair on the child at all.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) I never said he's mediocre. I know you didn't YAS, sorry I should have made my post before yours clearer.
  16. Last year it was starting pitchers. Now the market's gone crazy for relief pitchers. And the White Sox probably have something to do with that. Teams saw the success we were having a good bullpen, and getting someone like Hermanson who had closer experience to a good deal, that would be below market price right now. That won't be happening again.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Of course you can find guys who make it, or there wouldn't be a big leagues. And who called Gio a mediocre prospect? I'm just looking at the odds of him succeeding vs. the benefit of acquiring Thome. Of course there's the issue of whether Thome's going to be completely healthy etc. but that's a totally different argument. I'll just ask this question. On how many major league teams, would Gio Gonzalez be a top 5 prospect? That should tell you whether or not, he's mediocre.
  18. Cowboys vs. Giants this weekend. It's going to be a real good one.
  19. That's Kobe. Now did his teammates actually give a s*** tonight?
  20. So a few beers after the Friday day at Work goes down well let me tell you.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) The guys Ill be watching next season is Malone and Lumsden.... and I guess Liotta too. Lumsden has been injured his whole minor league career so far right? Anyways in response to the original poster.... why do people think we can give up an avg. player at best and get 2 stud prospects in return? I'm especially looking forward to how Liotta does next season, and whether he can keep the good ERA up in the higher levels. His K/BB ratio at Winston Salem wasn't great, despite his good record there.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Borchard> timo with a few more ''>''. I would even take the one, the only, leo daigle over timo. I am not sure if i am serious... pretty sure i am though. And the argument from a Timo backer..... "But, but what about the clutch bloop singles!!!!"
  23. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) I just don't see the point of getting all excited for the future superstars that never happen... Two Words. Brandon McCarthy. Tell me what you thought of him at the start of the 2004 season? Just another mediocre prospect?
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) The point he was trying to make was that prospects don't usually amount to much in the long run. The odds of Gio winning 50 ML games, at this point in time, are long. But we've seen prospects like B-Mac, who at the start of last season started in low A ball make it in the big leagues. Obviously some people think Gio isn't a top prospect, because he hasn't rached AA and he's had a couple of injuries. Well he's going to build up in the future as well, and having the numbers he did this season at the age of 19 is very impressive. Gio may not make it to the major leagues, we don't know. But to call him a mediocre prospect, when his stats show NOTHING to suggest that, isn't very smart in my mind.
