  1. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Come on Pax, send Ben and Thomas, give me back Artest and some benchwarmer, and elevate the team Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh would be laughing pretty hard at that offer I'd imagine.
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) What about that hot sister of yours? A husband.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Paul and Ozzie say "HI!!!!!!!!!!!" And Mark Buerhle too.
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Everett was one of our more consistant players in the playoffs. Yeah, but he also hit 0HR's in 40AB's (just being picky here). Then there were the .228/.305/.386 splits post ASB. I don't agree with what the Seattle writer is saying about Carl's character, but I do agree that Seattle isn't a good fit for him.
  5. If you're a team desperate for a power hitting OF like the Pirates, no wonder they're interested in Bradley. And Jim Tracy has probably told Dave Littlefield what he's like in the clubhouse etc.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) We will take him back with open arms. What would you offer. I'd imagine the Pacers would probably want Luol Deng as a part of a package.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) I forgot about that rumor, but yeah, that's definitely been a rumor of the past couple years. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen, and I'd be pretty pleased with that. I wonder if that happened if the Pacers would be able to lock up Peja long - term, and then the Bulls would miss out on him in FA.
  8. So I heard this Aussie Guy from Melbourne is playing well for the Hoosiers, Ben Allen I think his name is.
  9. Isiah Thomas "But, but I can give you Quentin Richardson and Malik Rose!!!!!!!!". There were rumors of a Peja for Artest swap yesterday. That makes a lot of sense on both sides. And I'd love to have him on Orlando, but we've already got Hill and Hedo for the SF position, which is a shame because he'd really help make our defense even better, and would probably be more of a scoring option with Francis actually passing the ball and playing wel, and Dwight still trying to get a low post game.
  10. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Who do they have for 2b? Willie Harris as well as Joe B? I certainly don't think the sox would have to part with any key prospects for a LOGGY guy Yuniesky Betancourt was their second baseman for the majority of the second half. He only had a .666 OPS, but he's an excellent defensive player, plus he's young at only 23. They've also got lots of utility guys in Jose Lopez, Willie Bloomquist (wite's personal favorite ) and Mike Morse, so I can't see them having a big interest in Harris.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Garcia is an example of a situational pitcher also. The bigger the game, the better he pitches. It's more than just straight ERA vs Win totals. But I guess that also shows why people get frustrated with Freddy sometimes when he doesn't perform well against teams like Kansas City when he should be dominating them.
  12. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) George Sherrill from Sea. is an interesting case--someone who could fit. Esp as he doesn't walk many people and can get strikeouts [career in minors of 1.01 whip, w/ 161 k's, 31 bb's in 117 1/3 ip--has had a 1.24 whip in 42 2/3 career major league innings]. He limited lefties to a .156/.170/.333 line in '05. He wouldn't require that much to get in terms of talent, as he has some strikes against him--he's old [will be 29 in april, pitched in Ind. leagues]; had a 5.21 ERA in '05 [though in 25 + innings, that's not huge--look at the jump Neal Cotts made in terms of ERA]; and Sea. has a few younger lefties with more upside on the roster or near ready. Whoever the sox get should have a nice K: BB rate, someone who won't hurt themselves or the team by giving up free passes. As soon as I thought of a trading partner for a lefty LOOGY, I instantly thought of Seattle. IIRC, they had 4 lefties in their pen at 1 point in 2005, and they've got Rafael Soriano to come back as a set-up guy as well. They're pretty desperate for some LH power right now. Joe Borchard perhaps?
  13. Now here's a charity event worth visiting;
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) Blue Jays Tigers Which would you choose? As a Tigers or Blue Jays fan would you prefer to have A.J Burnett and B.J Ryan or Todd Jones and Kenny Rogers for the next few years? Oh and BTW, I'd choose Toronto.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Illitch doesn't really have much of a choice. If he wants ballplayers, he has to overpay for them. Yeah but you can overpay for players like the Blue-Jays have done with Burnett who have a much better chance at producing long - term, than the likes of Rogers and Maggs. The point I'm making is that, yeah he's overpaying, but he's overpaying on the WRONG type of players.
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) so following this logic, Millwood would've been a WORSE pitcher had he had, let's say, a 3.86 ERA but gone 15-5. Gee, I wonder which the Indians would've preferred. This all goes back to the Jose Contreras argument. Jose Contreras in the 1st half of 2005 had the same problem, he wasn't winning his games. But was that his fault? No, and you know why? Run Support. If Millwood actually got run support in the games he started, he could have won 20 games, not 9.
  17. And yet Rincon had a worst ERA in 2005 than Marte, he was better against righties than lefties. What does that tell you? (but at least he won't cost a draft pick I suppose). As for effective LOOGY's on the market, there's not a lot to be had, you'd have to look at guys like John Foster, George Sherill, Brian Shackleford, Kent Mercker etc.
  18. What do you think are the chances of the Bulls trading for a center on Dec 15?
  19. So you're suggesting the use of Jeff Bajenaru and Arnie Munoz I presume. Personally, I think we could bring in a couple of vets on minor league deals, and let em battle em out with the likes of Baj in spring training. But if it's a veteran, it's got to be a lefty, otherwise the spot goes to Baj who's earned it.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Munoz is a joke Dan's influence on Arnie must have finally rubbed off on you.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) He could be one of those signings thats almost like a mid-season pick up and if he's healthy it gives you a fresh arm down the stretch (and a good one at that). I think a wise move would be a 1yr deal with a 2nd and 3rd option year or something. Any other quality righties out there? He'll probably get something similar to what Dustin Hermanson got last off-season, maybe even more, if he can prove his arm can get back to 100%. Definitely makes sense for a lot of teams in this current market.
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) yes but I am saying it is not right. The Angels don't have that yet they have the best Bullpen in the AL. Why did people think the Angels had the best pen in 2005? They have K-Rod, Shields and Donnelly, yes. But look at who else they had. Jake Woods - 4.52 ERA Esteban Yan - 4.59 ERA Joel Peralta - 3.89 ERA Kevin Gregg - 5.04 ERA. Donnelly also had a 3.72 ERA in 2005. Frankly, it shows how valuable Scott Shields is to them.
  23. Dotel may not be ready until mid-season. I'd expect him to wind up on a team like the Cardinals who need set-up men.
  24. And Tyson Chandler, 1 point and 2 boards, yeesh. C'mon, you know you want Tony Battie or Kelvin Cato.
