  1. You guys really need to trade for a center, stat. Tony Battie has been mentioned around the league, but we'll probably want some good talent in return, he's actually been playing pretty well this season. Other guys you could look at, David Harrison from Indiana, Joel Pryzbilla from Portland (Ratliff started today, Joel may be in Nate's doghouse), Kelvin Cato and Lorenzen Wright.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Not really because Broadway will start the season in AA. So if he has a good season he will be invited to spring training and if he pitches well and we have a spot open I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Broadway in 07. It's an interesting situation. There's no real stud SP prospects for us at AAA or even AA. Liotta, Lumsden and Broadway could all start the season down at B-Ham. Broadway's numbers down at Winston - Salem weren't great, but let's see how he does down at B-Ham. Don't forget he was pretty tired when he was down there as well.

    Christmas Songs

They started playing XMas songs at my 2 jobs, one at K-Mart and the other inside the Elevator in the city. So I guess you just get sick of em after a while.
  4. Not the news I wanted to hear regarding Jose at all. I think it's just paramount that we get this guy re-signed. If you leave it like Paul Konerko, if he pitches as well he did in the 2nd half of 2005, he's going to get a LOT of money. I'd have no problem offering him a 3 year deal around 30-33M.
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Lets not forget the fact that Detroit f***ing blows. And yet Matt Millen still has a job. Gotta feel sorry for those Lions fans.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 06:54 AM) but I didn't think it should be a move that was done in the middle of a game I disagree with that completely. Orton had thrown for 12 yards in the 1st half. Grossman comes in, and with his 1st throw connects and beats Orton's total yards for the 1st half. It's much better to make this move now, instead of a playoff game when you're behind and it's far too late. Now the Bears offense can start to get comfortable with Rex behind center. Oh and we're STILL waiting for the person to who this thread was started for to address the issue.
  7. It's actually quite unfortunate the way things have played out with Crede. We've been waiting a few seasons for him to produce to the level that we knew that he was capable of, and for most of 2005 and the playoffs, he showed us that. But now with this back injury that won't get better over time and the Bora$$, I'd say right now the odds are squarely at 50:50 for a Crede return. If Joe decides to pull a Juan Uribe and switch agents, that jumps to about 70:30. Let's hope Josh Fields has a good season down at Charlotte and that plate discipline really improves.
  8. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) You mean "Kiwi Santa Violence?" Poor Aussies. It's getting to be like Blame Canada. Yes don't associate us with those sheep loving people now.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Dbaho...be very very quiet, the Boys got CLOBBERED. Wow what a whooping. Now its time to get ready for the Bears game WOOT. Yeah we were absolutely freakin terrible today, no excuses at all. It all starts at the line of scrimmage. If we can't protect Drew Bledsoe and opening up holes for the running game, or we can't stop the run on defense, we're just not going to win, period. The defense has really fallen back to earth, which is a worrying sign. Probably guys like DeMarcus Ware are starting to get a bit tired possibly.
  10. The Bears just went from a team that may not win a playoff game to a team that could win the NFC with 1 move. Seriously. Just watch Rex go with this running game and a better offensive line protecting him.
  11. I didn't go to the Work XMas Party because I hadn't been at the company long enough. So I missed the Scottish guy wearing a kilt.
  12. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) it would be really nice to see them put together a run and get 4-5 games over .500 establish themselves in the playoff picture in the east... even though its early. I can't see that happening unles Tyson Chandler starts playing like he did last season. If that doesn't happen, the Bulls will be around with about 5 teams fighting for that 7-8 spots in the East.
  13. I'm sure Spiff will tell you the Celtics aren't anything special at all this season. Besides Davis and Pierce, they've basically got no other good scoring options. Still a good performance by you guys, even though I'm sure Skiles didn't like the TO's. Looks like Sweetney dominated.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) I hope when people say stuff like that they do that Iguchi struck out a lot too....114 times in only 135 games.... Wilkerson might K more but it isnt that big of a difference from Iguchi... Yeah that's the 1st thing that came to my mind as well when I saw that original post. I know everyone loved what Tadahito brought to this team in 2005 and rightfully so, but if there's 1 thing he really needs to improve, it's to get those K's down.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) I didn't realize Fred's fastball was dwindling. I just figured it'd be nice to keep him until he's as old as some of those crafty guys who pitch into their 40s. If Brandon is the real deal, fine, but I prefer the big 3 I mentioned the next 7 years. And if you want to keep those big 3 over the next 7 years, it's really gonna cost ya, b/w $40-50M per season for those 3 possibly, if they keep pitching well, and the market for starting pitching keeps getting worse and worse. That's why it's important to keep young guys like B-Mac who are good, because it offers so much more payroll flexibility.
  16. Ryan Franklin's a good chance to get non - tendered, if you're looking for a swingman, he hasn't been good in the last 2 seasond, but he's almost thrown 200 innings for the last 3 years. Meche is going to be kept as a starter, unless they make a trade for one; Jose Acevado is another one who's probably going to get non - tendered. Hasn't been good in the last 2 seasons, but he's an option for a MLC (had a good year in 2003). Maybe he just needs to get out of Colorado as well. There's not much else that I can find other than the ones that have been mentioned already. Kolb's an interesting option, but I think he'll be headed back to Milwaulkee even if they non - tender him. Plus those K/9 ratios really do worry ya. And anthrax, Kolb also had more than 1 good season as well.
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Wow. Now Artest's agent is claiming Ron still wants to be a Pacer. Why the f*** did you say what you did then? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2263787 Well after what's happened, there's no way he can return to that team. Too much water under the bridge.
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) I don't like trading 2 more members of our title team. Even for Tejada. Uribe was awesome in the Series. He ain't half bad and Jon was incredible. Look at it this way, Greg. The Sox aren't loading themselves up for 1 year shot at the title again like the Florida Marlins, they want to contend for few more years yet, and the acquisition of Javier Vazquez shows that. What KW has to weigh up is it worth trading Garland now for some elite prospects and allow B-Mac to start, or keep Jon, when you know he's going to bolt, and just take the 2 draft picks?
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Taveras wasn't good on the road? Did you guys miss the World Series where Taveras was their most successful and consistent hitter? Uum, he rocked at the Cell in those 2 games. I know, I know, it's too small of a example to judge but he was the Astro's best offensive player in the World Series. I'd take him on the Sox (along with a prospect or 2) for Garland. And that was what 2 games. The Astros tried offering Taveras to the Yanks to help solve their CF problem, and Brian Cashman said no, that should say something right there. Remember all of the "I don't want Juan Pierre because he's terrible defensively with no arm!!!!!!" talk a few weeks ago. Well that's basically Taveras, except for the 103/25 K/BB ratio with a .325 OBP. Even Willie Harris when he led off for us had a better OBP.
  20. That future 1st round pick could be Fran Vazquez as well. Apparently Larry Bird has been scouting guys in Spain for the last few days, Fran included.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Why would you like it? Francis is a sloppy baseketball player, not known for being a team leader type guy, and most definitely not a smooth point guard. Outlaw is crap all that's really in it for you is the first round pick. Artest is far and away the best player in the deal. Tinsley is also the better point guard of the two ( francis and himself). You guys woud be losing so much defense ( which is why the pacers are so good)... it's not even funny. There is a reason rocket and majik fans always want francis gone. Steve's actually been ok so far this season in Brian Hill's princeton offense, but you know long - term it's going to be hard to have him not being the focal point on offense with Dwight Howard. I still think we may have to trade one of our PG's for a good young big though. Probably Jameer Nelson, unless we moved Tinsley in another deal. So our lineup if this happens; Tinsley, Artest, Hill, Howard, Battie. Bench - Nelson, Dooling, Stevenson, Hedo, Cato. Looks pretty good.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) There's some rumor of it being a trade with the Magic: Pacers receive: Steve Francis, Bo Outlaw, and a future first round pick Magic receive: Artest, Tinsley, and Eddie Gill I'd like it, if it were to be true. Yes, oh yes, please make this happen. NOW!!!!!!
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) No, it was the Animaniacs That and Pinky and the Brain. Good times.
