  1. Well if Steve Francis doesn't play we're pretty much screwed. We need to get back to playing solid D, and Dwight needs to regain his shooting touch.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) Cubs land pierre. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2250647 No Pie or Hill though unfortunately.
  3. My prediction, Everett will have a OPS in 2006, that'll be either 10 points higher or lower than Jeremy Reed did this season.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Frank says he's healed right now. IIRC Balta had a post saying how close the 2 fractures were or something like that. Either way, it's a big risk for Oakland, but one that could pay MASSIVE dividends, if he can stay healthy and produce.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Kyle Orton will be a stud. This guy would've been the first pick in the draft had he not gotten hurt earlier last year. So I'd thought it'd be good to come back to this thread now. At least it's good to see Rex did actually make it back before the season ended (that's if the Bears will actually play him).
  6. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) I cant believe people are still saying Orton is better than Grossman. How many sub 50 Qb ratings does Orton need to put up? SB But of course the Equation we're using here is "Sub 50 QB Ratings >>>>>>> Unproven (but better) QB!!!!!!!"
  7. You can say goodbye Arny. Somewhere Brian Sutter will be smiling.
  8. So how's this for a Company Function. I'm going Lawn Bowling on Thursday. That's right. LAWN BOWLING.
  9. I'm the Dodgers, so you can always count on me for a trade.
  10. I suppose it depends how badly he wants to play for a contender. Actually if I'm a team like Arizona that needs a stopgap solution for a season at SS, I'm trying to see if Nomar's going to bite, but I would doubt it. But he could go all Juan Gonzalez over the Indians then couldn't he.

    QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Well they are supposedly going to sign Hoffman too and he is still good although prob wont be as good as Wickman was last season. And id assume they are only going to upgrade one of those positions not both. I'm still not gonna count out the Pads out of the Hoffman race. A few weeks ago, everyone thought Giles was done in San Diego, but it wasn't the case. But then Kevin Towers and Sandy Alderson had to offer him 2 years $10M in this current market didn't they. OOPS.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) Eli Manning is a joke??? Wow you either know next to nothing about football, dont watch Giants games, or just a hater..... I don't think he's been good for the last couple of weeks, but we've owned him twice now this season, which hopefully bodes well for the future. He probably needs another good WR though. Amani Toomer ain't really gonna get it done no more.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Wow, the Marlins are cheap: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/13329457.htm If the D-Backs can sign Molina or Hernandez, they'll probably be thankful in the end.

    Mark B

    Mark's under our control for another 2 seasons. A bit early to start thinking about re-signing him, when we've got far more pressing issues at hand.

    So Paul Byrd is an upgrade over Kevin Millwood and Scott Elarton?
  16. QUOTE(soxfan420 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) 13 mill a year is not to bad but maybe im low balling him with increase in rev So the trade of Jim Thome and the re-signings of Jon Garland and A.J Pierzynski aren't going to fill out the payroll enough at it is already (not to mention a possible singing of Mueller or trade for Pierre).
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) The Panthers were averaging nearly 30 ppg in their last 6 games leading up to their match-up with the Bears. That's all I need to know. And those teams they played were Green Bay (32), Arizona (24), Detroit (21), Minny (38), Tampa Bay (34) and the Jets (30). I'm counting only 1 really good defensive team there.
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) G-Men handled em pretty well. Yeah Bledsoe picked a good day to suck, although our O-Line just ain't good in Pass Protection at the moment. And that comes from having Torrin Tucker and Rob Pettiti as your Offensive Tackles, forcing you to put in a TE and / or RB to help block.
  19. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) who does he have as a Wide Receiver? Moose will be double covered. This is why the Bears need to draft a Receiver with the first pick. He has no Receiving talent around him if Moose is double covered and that is what has been going on. I love this, I really do. Brett Favre threw for 277 yards today, and he's only got Donald Driver who's a better than average receiver to throw to. Kyle Orton on the other hand makes 35.3% of his throws and only 6, that's right, count em, 6 completions. And now for my favorite argument. "But the Bears are still winning with Orton behind center!!!!". Well I put forward this argument to you. The ranking of the offenses the Bears have beaten during their streak, 17th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 32nd. Just wait until the Bears actually play a team with a top 10 offense. You won't survive when your QB is passing for 68 yards. EDIT: And are the Packers a Good Team defensively? Hell no, especially in the secondary. E.g If Orton was ever going to have a good day, today was gonna be the day.
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) I first see the Cubs targetting a SS who can hit leadoff. Julio Lugo from the d-rays fits that. Then they might target Pierre. If the Cubs get Lugo, they'll still be looking for some LH Ofers who can hit w/ power. Yep Lugo makes a lot of sense for them, but they're gonna have to put up with his 25 errors a season as well at SS if that's the way they go. No doubt the Devil Rays will want some good young arms such as Rich Hill for him though.
  21. Can't say anyone's going to feel sorry for them at all;
  22. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) The Reds should trade for and extend Marquis. They could use a GB pitcher in that park Well hopefully for their sake they've learnt about the value of Groundball Pitchers from the Flyball Tendencies of one Eric Milton.
  23. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Who could the minor leaguer be? I guess with Lo Duca's mone it'd be a B prospect. Haven't heard much lately on Johnny Estrada but if he is non-tendered he'd be a good guy for a team that needs a catcher I don't think the Braves are gonna do that, when he could be a very useful piece in a trade. Unfortunately for them, there's quite a few other options out there, although Estrada would probably be the cheapest.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Why would the Orioles need a catcher? Something else happen to Lopez that I don't know about? Btw, I will still say that whatever team ends up with Hernandez will be getting a bargain. They want Lopez to DH and occasionally catch like Piazza IIRC. Will be very interesting to see what happens to the market for Molina and Hernandez though. Arizona I think will probably end up with one, if they can trade Troy Glaus and Javier Vazquez to free up payroll.
