QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Denver CAN win in Indy. They did it with the Q Griffin game at the end of 03 where they had the ball for about 41 minutes. I think they are constructed to be more competitive against them now as the Indy passing game has taken a step backwards. Whether they beat Indy or not, they are as good as anybody in the AFC and could go to2toe with Pittsburgh. The Giants are probably the team I am now pickign to win the NFC because they just have so many weapons on offense. Their D is obviously not the team that played Washington OR the D that gave up 45 to SD. Denver ran for about 190 on them so there are certainly defensive concerns. If they can hold teams to 20 or so points, they are in every game. I just don't know that they are a team built to win in January right now. Right now if Dallas played New York in the playoffs, I'd still like our chances. We match up very well with them, except for Roy Williams pass defensively on Jeremy Shockey. But right now the NFC is very wide open. Denver's success really depends on how effectively they can run the football. They still won't really scare you passing the ball, because Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie even though they're good, they're not great, you've just got to be careful the way they use playaction to get the ball so well to their TE's in Alexander and Putzier and their FB, especially when they get to the red zone. -
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) That;s If Towers is there next year. I see the Cubs and Pads making a run for him. Sandy Alderson's no dumbass anyways. Even if Giles became a FA, teams like the Cards, Cubs and Braves would have much better chances of signing him than we do. But I don't think it's going to get to that stage. San Diego are already bad enough offensively, and losing Ramon Hernandez will hurt enough, they can't lose Giles while they're at it.

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Let's break this down. If they can't trade Glaus, he's a must-play for the $$ he's making and his talent. If they can't trade Gonzo or Green, they're also definitely starting lineup. They just resigned Tony Clark but also want to get Conor Jackson, their hot prospect, in the lineup. If I remember correctly they said they might try getting him in the OF although his defense is questionable at best. Terrero is a nobody, benchwarmer material. I'm not real familiar with Quentin, is he a rookie? Basically, it's Tracy, Jackson, and Clark competing for 3 spots. Tracy is the best option defensively to play the OF. I have a feeling Clark and Jackson will be platooning till Jackson is ready for a full-time role. Personally I don't see them moving Tracy UNLESS we were to take Russ Ortiz off their hands as well which would open up $$ for them to sign another SP in addition to Marte and the prospects we'd send over there. But if they trade any one of Glaus, Green, or Gonzo, they keep Tracy for sure. Quentin's a stud OF prospect, and many thought he should have been up before Conor Jackson when they dumped Jose Cruz Jr. This is how I see things playing out currently; 1B - Clark and Jackson. Tracy playing some as well. 3B - Glaus. Tracy to take over if Glaus was traded. OF - Gonzo, Green and Quentin. Tracy to back up all those OF spots. Tracy deserves to be playing everyday for that team, but he's not good enough defensively in the one spot so he can do that. Conor Jackson would be a GREAT trade option, because he'd be the perfect DH for us for the next 10 years because he's terrible defensively. Best scenario for Josh Byrnes, he's able to dump a big contract there, but I don't think he'll be able to. Trading Gonzo looks like the best thing, but there's a huge cost in terms of him being the fan favorite, loss of ticket sales etc. That's why I think a Chad Tracy trade is very, very possible, if they can get the good young pitching they need. They won't be trading him, for the sake of trading him.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Going into overtime. Yep, and Josh Howard is really gonna emerge this season. Man wasn't that a great draft choice a couple of years ago. IIRC, he was like the 31st player chosen.

I'd say our chances of signing Brian Giles would be less than 1% right now. And the chances of Ross Gload being around in 2007, let alone 2006, aren't that high either.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Billy Wagner, B.J. Ryan, and Eddie Guardado would take offense to that. As for what the Sox should do this offseason, improve the DH spot (though I think we'll end up with Anderson there), and sign another good reliever. As LHRP, what I should of said was the best lefty out there that won't be closing (although Ryan may perhaps be setting up). Eyre's likely to stay in Southern California anyway.

Not one where'd I'd say "Now There's a Couple!!!"

Good to see Doug Christie hasn't changed (suckiness wise).

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) I realize that the Diamondbacks have extra position players. They just locked up a washed up firstbaseman that had a career year as well as brought back Clayton (if I remember right, maybe I was dreaming?). They have a full outfield and Glaus at third. I could possibly see them moving Tracy as an absolute last resort if they couldn't move some other player. I'm not gonna get myself excited about it yet until there's actual confirmation he's available. This is what they've got at the moment at 1B, 3B and the OF. Chad Tracy Tony Clark Troy Glaus Conor Jackson Carlos Quentin Luis Terrero Shawn Green Luis Gonzalez Can anybody say logjam!!!!

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Nene may have torn his acl the first three minutes into the game... that will not bode well for his upcoming free agency. Ouch. I thought Chicago and Atlanta were going to be seriously after him in the next off-season. If that's the case, maybe Denver will trade Andre Miller for some frontcourt help?
-
Can we also say Phoenix isn't going to miss a beat, without Amare for 4 months? James Jones and Raja Bell look to be doing the job so far.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) How long is it normal for a sprained ankle to be swollen and painful? I dunno, a couple of days maybe. How long have you been putting ice on it etc. But yes sprained ankles and injuries to the foot can be very painful. Reminds me of the time when I fell off the monkey bars and fractured my middle toe (stupid other kid who double dared me).

Quite sad you guys asked me to do this really.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Desperate? They traded a CFer with a weak arm coming off a .311 OBP season who is considered a leadoff hitter, while having an arguably better replacement waiting in the wings in Brady Clark, a solid, but not spectacular reliever, and a minor leaguer for a LFer coming off a .300 30 100 .890 season. They had money to spend, and I think they spent it very wisely. If I'm a Brewers fan, I have to consider that the heist of the offseason. Unfortunately for Brewers fans, Aaron Rowand's second half OPS > Carlos Lee's second half OPS, Scott Podsednik had a better 3rd year for the Sox than he did 2nd year with the Brewers, putting up a solid OBP and stealing 60 bases, Vizcaino was a rather reliable guy out of the pen, and with the money saved, they added about 2-3 other HUGE players that later went on to help the Sox win the World Series. Hindsight says they were desperate. Hindsight is stupid (sometimes). And that's why they were able to trade Pods and Vizcaino, because of Brady Clark and the amount of payroll room they had. It looked like a seriously one way trade at the time, but as you say, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Of course they could have just wasted their money on someone like Troy Glaus instead, but because they had trouble signing a quality free agent (IIRC all they got was Damian Miller) they had to make a trade. Of course if Lyle Overbay could learn how to play LF, Carlos Lee would be an excellent candidate to be traded again. But that's not going to happen.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) I don't think Arizona would move Tracy. They're supposedly trying hard to move Glaus or Gonzalez because of their contracts. And good luck to them for that. It's going to be seriously hard for them to dump those contracts, and get the quality return they'd want. Not to mention, the harm trading the fan favorite in Gonzo would do to that franchise and their fans. They need young pitching in a serious way. If you started a Chad Tracy for Gio Gonzalez, Dan Haigwood, Damaso Marte package, Josh Byrnes would definitely take a look at that.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) He ended the game on 4-10 shooting, 8-9 from the line, 16 points, 9 rebounds, 14 assists, and five turnovers. Turned it over a little too much but he is one of the best pure point guards in the league when he is healthy. The bucks have a bright future ahead of them. And he makes for a great 2nd PG in Fantasy Leagues. I really like the look of the Bucks at the moment, Terry Stotts just isn't going to be the guy to take them places I'd say though.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) How it the NBA going down the drain? I just laugh when people make these kind of comments. Especially after what the Bulls did last season. If anything, you'd think people in Chicago would be excited about the NBA.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) PJ did and should continue to. Apparently they forgot to tell the Kings that the season started. If they don't get going early, Rick Adelman's in trouble. And they've got top 4 potential still in the West, although 5-8 is more likely.
-
Now if you trade prospects instead and get a lesser slugger like a Chad Tracy or Lyle Overbay instead of Adam Dunn, would you do that instead, so you wouldn't have to trade from your rotation?
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Yea.. the first 8 years of his career. I should rephrase that. From now on.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Haha Jeter won...hahahaha. Is there ever going to be a year when Derek Jeter DOESN'T win a Gold Glove while he's playing? Seriously?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Willie and I have talked about this a few times, how Carlos had one hell of an overrated season. It shows how desperate the Brewers were for a middle of the order hitter at the end of 2004.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) The players and managers are morons. It's all about reputation. And you can imagine what happens if Hunter gets traded to the Yanks, and gets to make his "dazzling" plays over there. As for Rowand missing out, well it's like this all the time. Because he's not a "name" player, he's not going to win. Doesn't make it right, but that's the way it goes, and I can't see that changing now.

So let's have a look at Bogut's stats, 13/9 with 3 blocks, not bad, he'll probably put up numbers like that all season long. Looks like Webber owned him tonight though. The Hornets just WHOOPED the Kings tonight, 93-67, wow. Sacramento only shot 31% from the floor, ugh. David West almost had a double-double, he could be a good sleeper in fantasy leagues this season depending if Brown starts at C.
