QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Yeah, I know, but you still have to go out and play the games. They've gone up against the likes of Jamal Lewis, Kevin Jones, Rudi Johnson, Clinton Portis, etc, and they've only allowed one rushing TD all year. In 4 out of 7 games, they've held opponents to single digits in points scored. I know that they get to avoid 8 of the 9 legitimately scary offensive teams: NY Giants St. Louis Seattle Kansas City San Diego Denver Oakland Cincinatti Indianapolis Even on those rushers, Jamal Lewis has had a terrible year, he's got no acceleration and that O-Line has turned horrible, while Kevin Jones hasn't been himself either. I'd just like to see how they'd go against a Denver etc.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Please, let them embarrass themselves just like you did with all your negativity and choke avatars at the end of the regular season. Professional Sports Killjoys are soooooo out right now. Tell it like it is Soxy.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) But I also wanted Jon G to go nowhere so .... Who wanted Jon Garland gone? Last time I checked this season it was Contreras or El Duque being mooted in those Schmidt deals? Now last off-season when those Randy Johnson rumors were up and going, that was a different story.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) Am I invited to the party if we trade for Tracy? Yep, we're all going on a boat, Minnesota Viking style.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) Yep. Thank god we have the picture of health that is Frank Thomas. Considering that Durazo in his 3 years too has played 154 games, 142 games and 41 this season, compared to Thomas over the last 3 years of 153, 74, 34, calling Durazo injury prone compared to Frank Thomas is a bit rich. And not's forget Durazo's 2004 .321/.396/.523 splits in Oakland now either (crushing righties BTW).

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Disagree. He will likely sign a three year 21 million dollar deal and on the high side three years 24 million. Which, considering the contract's last off-season for the Russ Ortiz's, the Eric Milton's, isn't too bad (unless he becomes the Jon of old again).

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) If your talking trade...Mark Texiera should top the list. Problem is the Sox sure as hell aren't going to give the Rangers the pitching they covet. I can guarantee one thing, El Duque is the only starting pitcher the Sox have on the block. Barring injuries next years rotation (99.9% sure) will be Jose, Buehrle, Garland, Freddy, Bmac Teixeira's a Bora$$ client don't forget now Jason. Tracy or Overbay more likely I'd say. Jim Thome the wildcard.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) Mr. DePodesta, your flight to Boston is boarding. Now that'd be INTERESTING. Wonder if he'll get a 2nd chance somewhere though. Too bad Josh Byrnes just left for Arizona a couple of days ago too.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 09:34 AM) It must have be awful because i do not remember such a thing... It died a quick and painful death.

FWIW, I think he'll end up signing in Arizona, depending if Josh Byrnes really wants to go after him. Bryan Price the D-Backs new pitching coach was the M's pitching coach last season.

Hammer the Bears have been great on D no doubt, but look at the offenses they've been up against so far this season; Washington Detroit Cincinatti Cleveland Minnesota Baltimore They caught Washington in the 1st week with Ramsey when their offense sucked. Cincinatti's been really the only good offensive team they've played at all so far this season. And their schedule is so damn easy, they only have to play 3 other good offensive teams, Carolina, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. Add that to the teams in the NFC North, the Bears have got it real easy. As a Cowboys fan, I'm jealous.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) f*** s*** b**** ASS f*** s*** God damnit f*** turf that stupid s***. f*** I think your chances of winning that bet are seriously down the toilet now.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) P.S. Chemistry can be severely overrated. Look at all the crazy teams that have won championships in any sport. And then again it can be severely underrated. Look at the Los Angeles Dodgers. I wonder if Paul DePodesta if he ever gets another GM position, is going to have team chemistry a little bit higher up on his mind next time.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) That thread is pretty damn funny. That's my thread of the year nomination for the Soxtalk Awards no doubt.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) Contreras This thread shows just how reactionary people can be. And I LOVED the feelings of B-Mac in that thread too.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Yeah, what is NBA Live 2006 like? I've heard the franchise mode is actually good, being able to trade individual players and hire coaches now.

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Wasnt there a PK is a fat selfish loser Group as well? I personally call it "The Midseason lets get on the Paul can't hit with Runners in Scoring Position KONERKO!!!!!!! Bandwagon"

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) I still don't want Joe Crede. 6 more months of crappy hitting doesn't thrill me. Crede has +.800 OPS's in 4 of his 6 months in 2005. One of those months he didn't was when he broke his finger.

Official NFL General Discussion Thread
DBAHO replied to Balta1701's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Things returning to normaility for the Cowboys going into the bye, easy win vs. the Cardinals. Too bad we've got 3 games in 11 days after that I think. Oh yeah, Marion Barber = Very Nice Insurance Policy for Julius Jones. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) *stupid ass computer question* How do I put stuff on a blank CD-RW When I try and open the CD through 'My Computer' it says to put a disc in. How do I format it or whatever you have to do. Isn't it best to use a burning program like Nero for stuff like that?

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) He got roasted in a couple of his starts at the major league level. BMac has shown more promise than him at the majors level so far IMO. I read somewhere that they're believed to have similar value, potential, etc. I like Liriano long - term better than B-Mac. That's not to say I don't like Brandon McCarthy, Liriano's just got more wicked stuff than B-Mac, a 33/7 K/BB ratio in 6 games shows that. In 5 years in the minor leagues, he's only given up 27 HR's too. Don't forget when it was his 1st jump up to the majors, B-Mac struggled mightily when he came up. Liriano's more raw, but he's got a higher ceiling, and I think with the way Minnesota's handles young pitches and with Santana there to help him, Liriano will be a real good one.

And I'm moving this to Around The Horn, because this is the CUBS we're talking bout here.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) tony hawk's new one is really good. I hear it was like Underground 1, but you couldn't create your own skater and it didn't have the charm of the older games which made em so good........ but anyways; Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer - Not out yet of course, but spend 8 mins of your life watching this great video. Definitely worth it. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/662/662646p1.html Gun - Made by Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto, cowboy style. Also comes out next month. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/gun/news...0&mode=previews The Movies - Definitely recommend this, comes out November 8. Get to make your own movies, and has heaps of cool features like putting in your own voice for the actors etc. http://pc.ign.com/objects/482/482108.html Civilization IV - 9.4 on Gamespot tells me all I need to know. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/civili...oniv/index.html GTA Liberty City Stories - Only on PSP, but well worth it if you have the system. http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/gtalibe...ries/index.html Black and White 2 - You're a god, pretty cool game. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/blackw...and%20white%202 The Warriors - Actually meant to be really good as a beat em up type of game. Since it's made by Rockstar, I'll believe it. http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/thewarriors/index.html Resident Evil 4 - Finally just came out on PS2. Meant to be one of the best console games ever, up there with GTA and Halo apparently. http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/adventure/resi...vil4/index.html

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Did Depodesta draft their minor league prospects or are they all a product of the old gm? I think so, but there wasn't really a huge change in philosophy, like they still drafted quite a few high schoolers, instead of all college player.
