  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) She absolutely skewered the medias portrayal of the feel good White Sox a month and a half ago. When she had Darth Thomas and the White Sox attending a team builiding retreat. That was f***ing brilliant. Spot on satire in the form of Legos. Where else are you going to find that? That was just one of the most funniest pieces you're ever going to read anywhere. Period.

    Hav a good one Crimson.
  3. QUOTE(LDF @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) i have a feeling that some of the veteran goalies are going to have a hard time getting playing time. i think you will see some realize that it is time to hang up the pads. one goalie comes to my mine is maybe osgood. this is my opinion Osgood's back in Detroit with Manny Legace. He should get good playing time, so I doubt he's gonna retire any time soon.
  4. QUOTE(LDF @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) being fiscal is what i get when i heard of the return we got from tbo. i feel that the hawks did not want to be laden with his contract. however, we could have wait for the right price or go into the season with tbo as backup. you will know that sometime during the esp before the trading deadline, you can get more. The problem is there are other alternate veteran goalie's out there on the FA market still in Joseph etc. Most likely a team may not hav even traded for T-Bo at the deadline, better to get something for him now, and use that money to get a good center or RW for the 2nd line.
  5. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) This is why I'd like to see Chris Young called up. He's nearly a 20/20 guy at Birmingham (18 HR, 20 SB), has a good OBP, a good BB/K ratio, good HR and gap power, and a decent average in a pitchers park. I'd like to see what he could do in a hitter's park like Comiskey. The problem is that this is Young's 1st season above low A ball. Francouer IIRC spent the year before this one at AAA, or some part of it. It's more likely we see Anderson up here before Young.
  6. Good to see Anderson back, and Chris Young doing what Chris Young does best again. Excellent outing for Honel as well, he needed to rebond and he did.
  7. You get a decent C or RW for that 2nd line, it just makes this team a whole lot deeper on the offensive end. Anson Carter's a possibility. Wants to play in Tornto but if they sign Lindros, won't have much cap - room left. Bondra's only got 1 more year left him probably at the most.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) If our team was worried about the media, we would not be 73-39. They should be after Kotex Boy's latest piece.
  9. What's the over/under on Freddy giving up a run in the 1st inning............ Kidding, kidding, very confident with Freddy pitching as we should be. Some serious questions will be asked of the Yankees hitters if they struggle today as well. Only 4 runs in this series so far against the Cuban Connection.
  10. A big knock on Contreras was that he doesn't handle pressure situations and big games good. Well he proved that theory wrong last night as well. Props to him, and we needed it.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) My God. Yankee Stadium has the WORST music of anywhere. Yeah that Latino music they had going made me cringe.
  12. Once again on Jose I'll say this. He's not as bad as some people make him out to be. He's got an amazing BAA stat, and a good ERA away from home this season. And most importantly, he doesn't seem to be walking many games since that Oakland game about a month ago.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) could be a possibility. I just would rather have a 99 mph heater float over the plate than a 92 MPH aimed fastball drift over the plate. I'll say this about Jenks, yeah he's got great stuff, and yeah he's been throwing strikes, but his main problem down at B-Ham was his control and at some point, it is probably going to hinder him for an outing or 2.
  14. QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Man Contreras had a great outing. Why the hell wasn't Hermanson used more in the 9th? Oh yeah because lefties are still hitting okay against him. WWE NEED 2 TRADE FOR A LHRP. Unfortunately if you saw what Florida gave up for Ron Villione, that won't be happening anytime soon.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) It is kind of funny how a lot of the people that defend Ozzie (saying that he knows how to manage better than any of us) also criticize KW/Ozzie for never bringing up Baj. You could kind of say that. But even if Baj wasn't a SoxTalk poster, a lot of us would now still be saying "why isn't this guy up with the numbers he has" instead of someone like Jon Adkins or Kevin Walker. We'll see him in September, and that's a very crucial period for him. But like I've said with Ozzie, there's worse managers out there at using the bullpen than him. Felipe Alou went through something like 5 relievers in 1 inning this season.
  16. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) In that respect, true (although he's only jumped 1 level and has had nowhere near the success and numbers BMac had in his 3-level journey last year)... I think we should be careful in making these kinds of comparisons... Yeah I only made the comparison on the fact that Haigwood has better numbers since he's jumped, kind of like B-Mac from Kanny to W-S. B-Mac's 2004 was really quite extrodinary in itself, and something we may not see from a White Sox pitching prospect again for a while.
  17. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) No, his stuff doesn't rate on par with guys like Gio, Broadway, or even Whisler and Lumsden (if they can get or stay healthy)... That said, he has perhaps the best pitching mentality in the system outside of BMac and perhaps Broadway. Randar I'd like to know your thoughts on Tyler Lumsden actually. I know when the Sox selected him, they thought they were getting the best college lefty at the time. We've seen a guy like J.P Howell who went something like 3 picks before him IIRC, already make the majors (albeit with the KC Royals). I still rate Lumsden quite highly and I think once he gets over his arm problems and comes back from surgery, he could still move quickly through the system.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Very good point, as that would make two more players eligible for the post season roster. Jeff Bajenaru and Ross Gload would be the obvious options. Of course it would most likely end being Joe Borchard and Dave Sanders or Kevin Walker knowing how KW rates some players in the upper levels of our minor league system. I'd like to see Anderson get called up though if there if a vacancy, but I doubt that will happen before September anyway.
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) I like Dubuque, so Iowa gets my preference. As for "icky" states? Any that are hot. I don't like the heat at all. And I can't stand the cold. I'm longing for Arizona again. 48 degrees in faronheight today (which I know sounds quite pleasant to you Chicago people come Winter Time).
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) A splitter would be murder on the arm, but would probably fit his power game a bit more. Its hard enough to hit his fastball, but a hard splitter would be very hard to pick up. We just don't want him falling in love with a splitter ala Mr. Contreras now do we?
  21. QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) But his injury was not arm related, which is good, it was a knee injury that kept him out that entire year. Ahh my bad, guess I should of read the scouting report again. At least it's not like Corwin Malone coming back.
  22. QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) i guess being on pti and filling in for tony and being near wilbon does wonders He should of stayed holidaying in Italy me thinks.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) Excellent advice, just keep it in the zone. If they can hit that kinda heat and his nasty hook, you tip your cap to em and take your loss. More often than not, they won't be able to touch it. Bobby can probably develop a cutter over the next few seasons as well, and run that in on lefties, which will make him even harder to hit against them.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) Cotts and Jenks both pitched well the night before. In fact, Jenks was lights out. What does it do to him if he is successful? I'd use Jenks in any other closing situation, but not at Yankee Stadium with the game on the line. Maybe they just wanted to rest those 2 for tonight as well, and give the other relievers some work.
  25. We'll probably see some of Bobby perhaps tonight, along with Viz and Cotts. This is our future closer here though folks, and hopefully if his head stays screwed on for the next 10 years, he'll be a damn good one at that.
