  1. Here's the basic equation; If you're a pitcher on the Cubs = you are SCREWED If you're an ex-pitcher of the Cubs = you are SCREWING them.
  2. I am 19, and I have lived in Vermont South, Victoria, Australia for all of those years, 20 mins. east of Melbourne.
  3. Bout time he hit a home run. I need him to for my fantasy team. Oh I have like 5 guys who are on the DL as well.
  4. The Nick Punto era begins. Discuss.
  5. Hawkins really needs to get out of there ASAP. That ain't gonna happen though. They truly have f***ed him up.
  6. Can't really say it's suprising. It's Sammy, you'd expect nothing less.
  7. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) too tired to read through all this but another good choice for coach of the year would have been nate mcmillan(sp?) and the job he did with the sonics, they also had a great year and no one expected much from them You're right........... you are too tired. Check 1 page ahead, although their bad finish would have hurt his chances.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) I could go back and dig up tons of player stats showing bad September's and even awful years of pitchers who went on to be studs, but I doubt it would make a difference... And it wasn't just Baj who bombed in September either. IIRC Arnie Munoz didn't exactly do a great job then either, and some of us were putting him forward as a possible LOOGY guy for our pen this season in the off-season. Right now Baj would probably make some of the major league bullpens.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 10, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Jim bowden should win gm of the year... vinny castilla and all. I'm sure Brian Sabean wouldn't want to be left out either.
  10. Hopefully I'll be able to watch for a few innings and listen before I go to Uni today.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 10, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Ha I love how Bulls fans have no problem trashing their players, the players they defended to no end during the season, for the sake of saying their coach was the best. 1 Dimensional Big Man in Curry. Uh - Oh.
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 10, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Phoenix has: an Mvp Point Guard Nash 2 4/5 star shooting guards Joe Johson, Q richardson 2 all star fowards stoudamire, Marion a great 6th man off the bench Jim jackson. skiles has: 4 rookies 1 hot/cold pg/sg hinrich 2 1 dimensional big men chandler and curry and role players like harrington, Davis, Pargo, Pike, griffin You make it sound like Phoenix has a bunch of all - star's and Chicago has a bunch of scrubs. Couldn't be further from the truth.
  13. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 10, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Q had a good year. He's surprised every DePaul fan with his 3-point shooting. Skiles is the better coach, in my opinion. He should have won it. I just like d'antoni better than some of the other names that were being mentioned. He's who I had in 2nd place. The thing is no-one thought Phoenix could play small - ball with only 6 good players all season and be sucessful. Gotta give some credit to the coach.
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 10, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) You will support anything suns because of steven Hunter and Q. I pose a question for you. How would skiles do with suns ? How would D'antoni do with this year's bulls? I just think that the gm for the suns is more to credit for building that offensive beast in phoenix. Paxson did a great job bringing in the rookies for skiles, but C'mon how often do you see coaches win with a team as young as the bulls? You see coaches win with the type of talent phoenix has all the time. So if Johnny Davis coached the Suns they would still have the same record? I think not. But Chicago's slow start wrecked all hope Skiles had of winning the coach of the year. Where would you put Nate McMillian into all of this as well?

    Ashlee Simpson

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 10, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) At the very least, Ashlee with blonde hair = teh best. Man is she hawt with long blonde hair. ^^^. Why'd she ever have to change from that. Seriously.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 10, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) I play basketball with the one kid from it. I am teh l33t The mobster?
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Uuuum, draft is different from FA. They also made the trade for Jimmy Jackson and drafted Leandrinho Barbosa. I'm sorry to bring this up again, but this really got to me. Look who Phoenix drafted, Jackson Vroman, and he's not even on the team anymore. Chicago picked Gordon and Deng. Yes Phoenix has a better team because they have more superstars, but Chicago is deeper.
  18. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 10, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) I would like the Sox to get Baez b4 Mesa but it would be insane to pay that kind of price for Baez. Mesa would have to be a lot cheaper to get than Baez.... And he will be. Baez is really a luxury for Tampa since he doesn't get a save chance that often at all (like 1 in 8 games IIRC), but they aren't going to give him up for the sake of giving him up.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) I completely agree...but i'm not sure we could pull a Borchard - Mesa swap straight up... The market for a proven closer who has seemingly had a second rebirth has to have an asking price higher than that?!?! Or am I wrong??? No way we wouldn't, Pittsburgh would probably want another prospect, or some young relief guys like Baj possibly. Right now the market for closers is still iffy. Teams that need them like the Mets and Cubs would love to trade for one, but teams like Tampa who have Baez want a Kazmir for Zambrano like deal again.
  20. Pittsburgh could be interested in Joe Borchard here, and I'm not kidding.
  21. I'll say this about Grossman. He's only started in 6 games, and will have 3 diff OC's in 3 years. Not exactly a great record for success. He needs the running game to really perform to take the pressure off. I predict a 7-9 or 8-8 season for the Bears.
  22. Of course Walker has to be sucessful against lefties in the Tampa series, and whether he can, I don't know.
  23. Going along with the whole who was on Jon Garland's side thread from a week back, here's a perfect case of seeing what would have happened if we gave up on Jon too soon. Now RJ is one hell of a pitcher no doubt. But he wouldn't have JG's numbers right now, and you take out a Konerko plus a prospect like Anderson, it would have hurt us in the short and long - term. But if we make the playoffs, it'll be interesting to see if a pitcher like RJ could have put us over the top in a playoff series. That was the whole reason FOR gettin him IIRC.
  24. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 9, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Nice article. How pissed off are Yankee fans when they see what Hernandez and El Duque are doing now? Hernandez and El Duque??? I think you mean Contreras. And yes, compared to the days of Carl Pavano @10 million per season, Kevin Brown @15 million per season, and Jaret Wright @ about 7million per season, the Yanks would be longing for those 2.
