Kevin Walker & Harris recalled; Lopez, Burke down
DBAHO replied to whitesoxin''s topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) I look at all the stats. I hope he keeps striking guys out instead of walking them but as soon as he walks a guy and gives up a couple of hits or a homer, his ERA will skyrocket. Just like El Duque. Eventually the walks are going to burn them. Which he hasn't done much of lately. Rip on the early version of Neal Cotts if you will, the one who after 4 appearances had 4 BB's and an ERA of 8.10. You cannot tell me that he's been bad after that surely. And like Keith has said already, Cotts >>> Walker, and who would replace Cotts as the long man anyways. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Cotts career ERA of 5.75 sure bears that out too. And that's the deciding stat is it. My god, he's young and only going to get better. Of course Joe Crede's career batting average is pretty damn bad too I take it, so that automatically means he sucks. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) What bait is there to take? The guy issues too many walks and they are usually in the leadoff variety. Am I wrong? But you don't look at the positives of Cotts' pitching so far. Hitters are only hitting .156 off him, righties .059. Away from the Cell, he's been very, very good, with 3 BB's, 8 K's and hitters only hitting .120, and an away ERA of 2.45. In his last 5 outings, he's only given up 2 of 7 BB's as well. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Also, Neal "Leadoff Walk" Cotts of 9 K's and 7 BB's in 9.0 IP on the season. Who hasn't given up a ER in his last 5 outings. I don't think anyone's going to take the bait. -
This team just keeps getting the job done. They always seem able to hold a close lead late, or rally if they're behind. Off to Tampa Bay.

Who would have thought Chris Widger would get 4 votes in something like this at the start of spring training.

I sense Neal Cotts will somehow become mentioned in this thread (oops). But yes Pods has been good, Keith hit the nail on the head with him. It doesn't matter if he's hitting .250, so long as that OBP is around the .350 mark.

Frank feels better, may not need minor-league rehab
DBAHO replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If there's going to be any rust at all with Frank, and there will be, send him down to AAA for a week. The offense seems to be picking it up anyways. Still, it's going to be great to have him back, that OBP stat will really go up after his return. -
It's all bout the Bora$$.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Your Aussie football is different than ours, Andrew. I really doubt that we should put much stake in what you have to say. Yeah ours is better, and oh yes, when I go my team wins. http://gfc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=...rticleid=201084

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 8, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) Ferguson was a big move, the other 2 arent really anything special, but like for us Muhsin was a big move and the other 2 arent really special... but in both cases they filled our needs. Also, At least during the draft they kept saying how Dallas is going towards the 3-4 defense... well I always thought you used 1 DT and 2 DE in the front.... now they have 2 DT that need to start, so thats a bit odd. Anthony Henry will be our new starting CB. did you see who played opposite Terence Newman for us last season? Lance Frazier, Jacque Reeves. He's only 28, can stop the run, is a big physical corner, and with Dallas getting Cleveland's secondary coach as well, Henry will be a real good signing. Marco Rivera is a top 5 starting RG in this league. Andre Gurode is not a starting G is this league. Now Dallas can run the ball both ways instead of just the left side behind Flozell "The Hotel" Adams and Larry Allen. Henry and Rivera easily >>>>>> Miller and Garza. And on the DT issue. LeRoi Glover can line up as a DE if we need to in the 3-4 now, but we won't be using 3-4 all the time. Put a big dominant NT besides Glover in a 4-3, and Gloer will get you sacks. That is a given. Spears will be automatically better than Wiley, well because Wiley was almost the worst DE in the league last season (why Jacksonville signed him I do not know). Ware will be the pass rushing LB ALA Willie McGinest. Dallas's D-Line right now; Greg Ellis, Marcus Spears, Jason Ferguson, LeRoi Glover, Chris Canty. Looks pretty damn good to me.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 7, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) 90 is not going to be enough. I don't know about that. Minny should be roughly around the 90-95 mark give or take. 90 wins could be enough for a wild card spot even, but it's still way too early too tell how many wins we're going to need to make the playoffs.
-
1 good month doesn't win you a season. To win 90 games, we just have to go a little over .500 the rest of the way, and that should be the main aim from here on out. Anything extra I would probably consider a bonus.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Don't hold your breath on that one Andrew....Cowboys are way overrated, too many people act as if they made so many great moves. Parcell = OVER THE HILL. You don't think signing Jason Ferguson, Anthony Henry and Marco Rivera were the right moves? Better than what the Bears did this off-season I would have thought, including the NFL Draft as well.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) Lets see how Bledsoe does first lol, you guys wasted last year in not giving Henson any starts favoring Vinny :puke.... I have a feeling if Bledsoe starts the season off a slow we will see Henson sooner rather than later this year, and a course there will be a learning curve. Realistically Bledsoe's on a 2 year deal, with a high cap charge in his 3rd year, so they'll just release him after 2 years. And yes Drew could be over the hill. But Dallas's O-Line will be better than Buffalo's O-Line from last season, Parcells has coached him before so he'll know his strengths, and Bledsoe won a lot of games when Buffalo had a running game going, and with Julius Jones, Barber and the A-Train around, that won't be a problem for the Cowboys.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) I'll tell you why im against a long term deal of AJ. First I think a 2 year deal would suffice, but signing him any longer than that may cause a log-jam of catchers in our system. He have several catching prospects in A and double A ball that will be ready in 2 years. I wouldnt want to be forced to get rid of that talent simply because we signed AJ to a long term deal. its been quite awhile since we have had some catching talent in our system. Francisco Hernandez and Donny Lucy won't be ready for 3 years minimum. Lucy struggled at rookie ball last season, and Hernandez is only down at low A Kanny as we speak.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) I think of him as a longtime White Sox already. That's good. I don't even have to think about behind the plate because he calls damn good games and his offense is top 3 for catchers IMO. Plus he's a lefty. I'm sure KW will get a deal done to sign him long term. Unless his man love for Ben Davis gets in the way.

Welcome aboard. We just keep packin em in.

QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) I just wish some of the media had the optimist point of view. Our pitching is above where it will probably end up, and our hitting is below, all I ever here is that the pitching will come back to earth, but can't somebody point out that the offense is bound to improve too? I believe that would be Phil Rogers.

You know the answer.
