Garland Haters and Lovers prior to 05'
DBAHO replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Of course I made the hater list. Before this year, Garland hasn't thrown to his potential. What else was there to say about him? Now that he is, I have no problem saying he's doing a great job. I think the issue that came up with Garland last season and off-season, was that we all know the potential that he had. His backers wanted to keep him around so he could find that potential, but others thought he was just going to be the same 11-12 win with a high 4 ERA. And I think this statement sums it up perfectly. Thank god this wasn't the Kip Wells situation all over again. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Technically speaking in Bham, but I know thats what you meant Andrew. I just figured since its always me getting corrected for once I'd correct someone else But ya that deal is looking outstanding. Now if only Kenny could get Bowden to give up someone like Owens for Borch. That was like my third or fourth error of the day, it hasn't been a good one at all on that regard. Right now with Owens, if he continues hitting the way he does, when do you promote him to Charlotte, if that's what you decide to do, and who do you demote? Maybe it's time to get rid of Borch to make room for him, although they'll probably consider sending down someone like Mike Spidale first.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread

QUOTE(backman @ May 2, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Did anyone hear Jason Williams after the game apparently he went off? But I missed it does anyone know what he said? Jason Williams and Shane Battier for Steve Francis please. -
I'd say Jose Mesa would probably be more likely. Dave Littlefield could even want Joe Borchard. They are absolutely desperate for a power hitting outfielder besides Jason Bay.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) IIRC, the scores of the last 3 games Santana has lost... 2-1 Ana 2-0 Det 2-1 CHW That is sickeningly good Jamie Moyer wite. I'm never going to forget that.

Little piece here from Ken Rosenthal got me thinking of that scenario;

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) I was wondering this too. Thats one of my favorite movies of all time. I loved that movie when I was younger, hell I still love the damn movie. Weird thing was it looks like they were making it the same. If they were going to make it, make it about them at a later stage or something, hell anything but what they have. I'll watch it whenever it comes on TV though just to see...soley cause it has Sandlot before the 2. I loved Wendy Peppicorn growin up.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) DBAH0, that kid's knees are the size of my head! Did anyone notice the face in his gut?

I've actually decided to pick up Benitez in league #1 for Bob Wickman. I'll stash him on the DL spot, and hopefully he'll be back in 4 months, plus Wickman has no almost no saves so far, and has been pretty worthless. Oh and I'm already 8 games out in front. W00t.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Well alright, that's good news for the Sox. I never thought much of Silva. I'd give him a C- if I were grading Twins starters. The trade that they did when they traded Eric Milton for Silva and Nick Punto IIRC, was definitely another great move by Terry Ryan. Silva should provide an ERA of around 4 and win about 13 to 15 games, which is really pretty damn good for a #3 starter, especially in the AL.

To me I'd prefer the college player over the high schooler just because it's a more sure thing, but if the best player on the board is a high schooler you take him, just look at Gio. Also when you look at Josh Fields and how he's progressed that's definitely a plus. Tyler Lumsden was picked at #30 IIRC, and the Sox thought he was the best college lefty on the board at the time. We haven't really been able to see much of that because of his arm problems, but it's definitely something I'm really going to keep an eye on when he comes back, how he does and how fast he makes it up thru the system.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 2, 2005 -> 05:16 AM) Jermaine Dye made contact with the ball all 4 times he went up to the plate that night, IIRC. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU PINCH HIT FOR HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE? The guy has no confidence at the plate or in himself at the given time, so as a manager, you should put him into a situation where he can succeed easily, therefore raising his confidence. PHing anyone for Dye at the time left me mystified, considering what I just said, but then you put in a guy that is hitting WORSE then Dye? f***in brilliant Ozzie. Hindsight is 20-20, but I had felt all along that pinch hitting was the wrong move to make there. Plus he was my PTC. Pretty much runies my night there with the bases loaded.

QUOTE(3E8 @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) You'd have to announce for the Pirates or something. That would get old so fast. Of course it would have to be for the huge shots, I'll come up with some more Aussie slang ones later.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) Let's turn this into a "What would your home run call sound like?" thread. "Crikey, that shot would have reached my zoo"
-
Now if he went "Yuh-Oh, Spaghetti O's", then we'd have something truly to complain about.

I see Dimitri Young didn't play either. Probably got sick of all the abuse from that prediction of his.

gwerty, LMAO.

This article would have made more sense for us about 2 to 3 months ago.

Garland Haters and Lovers prior to 05'

I knew those late nights with YASNY and I defendin Jon Garland weren't for nothing. -
Right now how good is the Jerry Owens trade looking. That could end up being a real big steal in the future if he can continue to impress in Charlotte, and then hopefully in the majors. Please oh please let some organization let Jim Bowden be their GM.

Thank you for bringing the old Ashlee blonde pic back. I'd say I'd hit it, but that isn't really suitable around here, unlike somewhere else.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) If he continues this way up until Thomas's return, he will find himself as the 4th outfielder as Everett will take over in RF permanently. Is Everett going to good enough defensively though especially for Ozzie's liking? It's kind of a double edged sword. Hence, why it's actually quite important for Dye to get his stroke back before Frank returns.

QUOTE(Cy Garland @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) Do you get paid in American or Australain money? Rupiah.

I've got a Wireless Setup down here and it's also pretty good. The Router and main Cable Modem is downstairs, and my computer is upstairs here in my room, and for the most part the signals are pretty good. That and it's made me a lot lazier.

At least he's enthuiastic. Time for some merging (gotta do something to earn my pay round here).
