WSCR reports on Clement
YASNY said we would probably pay about $6 million of Vazquez's salary. Vazquez @6mil Clement @9 or 10mil - Garland@3.4 mill Marte$1.5 mill (I think)

WSCR reports on Clement
That's about an increase of $11 to $12 million in salary I think, so it'll all depend on what the final payroll is, and the difference would have just decreased too, with the signing of Uribe to a 3 year deal today as well.

WSCR reports on Clement
Don Cooper needs to bring out the best in Jose and and our pitching staff, otherwise, he's probably as good as gone at the end of 2005, which I know will please some around here.

WSCR reports on Clement
They no longer need a second baseman, since they acquired Keith Ginter. Billy Beane is definitely after young pitcher, so B-Mac would probably have to be included. The A's could always upgrade in the pen, so a guy like Adkins, Cotts, Politte etc. could be included. And the A's will probably want another prospect, in the lines of Chris Young.

Sox ink Uribe to multiyear deal
Nice to see KW get a deal done here, as with the current market, Uribe probably could have gotten a lot more IF he was a FA. I think he knows he's in a real good situation, playing in a park that favours hitters tremendously, and he's in a clubhouse full of Latino guys. Hopefully 3 years from now, Uribe will be putting up Miggy Tejada like numbers, and that's no stretch.

WSCR reports on Clement
Can I just ask who would people have preferred? Carl Pavano or Matt Clement because right now it looks like they both could get about $10 million a season.

WSCR reports on Clement
Thursday or Friday supposedly, and then we'll probably see Perez make up his mind a few days later, depending on what teams do there.

WSCR reports on Clement
Detroit could be real stupid and offer 4 years 40 million, yes I'm not kidding. He'll probably sign a deal about 9 mill over 3 or 4 years from some team though. And Boston were desperate to trae him early 2004 when he had an ERA of around 7, but there was absolutely no market for him. When he just doesn't use his favorite pitch, the sinker over and over again, Lowe can be a somewhat effective pitcher though.

Our offense in 05
Rowand is the better fielder, but Pod has more speed. But if they move Pod to LF, he can concentrate on stealing more, which was what Tim Raines said.

WSCR reports on Clement
Only really Eric Milton and El Duque left on the market.

WSCR reports on Clement
3 years 22 million, could just be enough to sign Perez, and then you still have money left over to sign Pierz or Cora and someone else.

WSCR reports on Clement
Yeah my thoughts exactly. Well I'm still hoping for Odalis Perez.

New Randy to Chicago talk
I believe they already offered Beltre $62 million over 5 years from a report from a few days ago. The Tiggies are also very interested, by most likely, he'll stay with the Dodgers, since it looks like they'll miss out on Hudson now and possibly Clement.

Matt Clement Update
It's funny how about a month ago, most people around here wanted to stay away from Clement just because of the fact of his arm problems and he wasn't in the Cubs rotation when the season finished. But now with the current market for starters, and only him and Perez left as the main starters, a lot of people have changed their tune.

New Randy to Chicago talk
Not that this has anything to do with the Sox and RJ, but Sexson signed an interesting deal today, where he only gets $4 million next season, and then $10 million in his 2nd year I think, and then $14 million in his last 2. Like Gene said, the Sox could be trying to do a backloaded contract with Perez or even Clement.

Bulls Beat Memphis
I didn't actually see what happened (thanx to stupid CBS Sportsline) so if you could fill me in that'd be great. And Stevie Franchise is a very hot and cold player, you really don't know what to expect with him.
-
Bulls Beat Memphis
Supply and Demand. Some team could really overpay for him just because of his so called potential.
-
Bulls Beat Memphis
Eddy Curry still only had 5 rebounds though. He's really got to pick it up in that department still.
-
Bulls Beat Memphis
What's that 5-15 now? And more importantly, Orlando is beating San Antonio 76-66 at the end of the 3rd.

New Randy to Chicago talk
Thomas has a $10 million player option that he can pick up for 2006 IIRC.

New Randy to Chicago talk
This is really an insane asking price by the D-Backs. Just sign Clement or Perez and Cora or Pierzynski and that should be fine for the rest of this off-season. And Tim Hudson commands a lower price than RJ, especially after seeing their demands.
