  1. Podsednik hit .274 away from Miller Park last season, in a down year. Harris wasn't exactly a stolen base threat every time he got on base either. Defense : Cora > Harris On Base Percentage: Cora > Harris Speed: Harris > Cora Ability not to Strikeout: Cora > Harris

  3. It all depends on how much money the Sox have left to spend. If it's 10 million, the Sox could sign Miller to a 2 year $11 million deal possibly ($5mill in 2005, $6 mill in 2006, $7 mill team option for 2007), sign Pierzynski to a 2 year $7 million deal ($3 mill in 2005, $4mill in 2006) and sign Cora to a 2 year $3.5 - $4 million deal.
  4. The 5th starter? Let's sure hope not;
  5. Other teams interested in Vazquez include;
  6. Red Sox could be interested;
  7. Pierzynski could have gotten $5 million if a team just claimed him when he was waived, so then he would go to arbitration. He'll probably sign a deal with a little more salary than what Damian Miller got.
  8. Oh Boy the Gordon and MJ comparisons have started already. Poor kid.

    Not really with Varitek definitely out of our price range and considering the fact he's a Bora$$ client. Charles Johnson is still available by trade, and Paul LoDuca was arbitration eligible (wasn't on the non - tender list) so I'm assuming the Fishies did offer him that. Otherwise guys like Brett Mayne, Gregg Zaun or Ramon Castro could be used to rotate everyday with Jamie Burke.
  10. The newest poster on the Angels Board.
  11. At least with the Mariners as well, they could have to move Ryan Franklin or Gil Meche before they sign a starter. There will be another team out there who's definitely still looking for a starter like Perez or Miller though.
  12. Defensively, Cora and Uribe would be one of the best defensive 2B / SS combo's in the league. That's Ozzie's main priority when it comes to his infield, and one that I don't think he'll shy away from when making a recommendation of whether to sign Cora or Ecky. Also, Cora hitting numbers could increase from hitting at the Cell moving away from Los Angeles. He'd be a pretty good #2 hitter to have behind Podsednik, purely because of his OBP, and you could have Rowand hitting at #3, #5 or #6 in the lineup where he'd get more RBI oppurtunities.

    I thought Jim Bowden had that award all sewn up about a week ago, but hell Sabean is trying his dandiest to give him a run for his money. Realistically if you are a young position player on the Giants, you ain't goin to be starting.
  14. Cora is a better fielder, can play both second base and shortstop better than Eckstein can, and will probably come cheaper. Plus since he's Joey Cora's brother, it's more conceivable that the Sox will sign him instead. He's got an excellent OBP too.
  15. I'm interested to see what happens with Shoe now. He can really only go 5 to 6 innings most times as a starter, but some team out there desperate for a starter (Washington, Pittsburgh) could give him a role at the back end of their rotation. And you know he won't be happy if he's forced to pitch from the pen.

    Just like Bobby Higginson. Man I'll be glad when that guy gets out of our division, hopefully in 2006.

    Dustan Mohr would have been perfect after today's non - tender's list, but of course, Ozzie and KW had to resign one of "their" guys above market value. At least Matt Ginter didn't continue his good early season form with the Mets, otherwise that trade would have looked a whole lot worse.
  18. Which really leaves 4 main teams out there still going hard for starting pitching. The Mariners, the Dodgers, the Nationals and the White Sox.

    Well so much for Heads being able to bring his Ben Davis sig back. Oh Well. There were no real signs pointing to this, until Pierzynski got waived about a week ago. There were reports all round, how KW loved Davis and wanted him to stick around. But today with the non - tendings of Shoe and Davis, we'd saved about 3 to 3.5 million, which could be crucial for other players.
  20. In other words, Miller is good.
  21. But he won 14 games last season!!!!
  22. You spelled dial wrong.
  23. I'd say there's a very good chance Clement will be injured for some duration of his 3 year deal with the Red Sox, the way his arm is, especially if he throws too many sliders.
