Hell people should start donating to "Save the Trees" instead.

You'd say the same thing about Mike Williams. If Terry Shea does indeed stay on as OC, the Bears definitely need an upgrade at WR. But since they are practically trying to copy the Chiefs' offense, they'll need speed at WR. Mark Clayton would probably be the other guy to look at, but the Bears definitely need an improvement in that area. It's most likely they'll go after Walter Jones as a free agent as well.
-
By the looks of things, Porter is going to end up a Buccaneer to rejoin Gruden. Muhsin could stay in Carolina IF the price is right for both sides. If the Bears are lucky, Braylon Edwards will fall into their laps come draft day.

What else do you suggest then? We filled 3 holes with the Lee deal, getting a leadoff hitter, another reliever who's brutal against lefties in the pen, and another starter for the rotation so that we don't have to see Jason Grilli and his 8+ ERA again. And one time, you were in favor of trading Lee for Podsednik and Doug Davis I believe.

For Milwaulkee. Seriously though, I think the Brewers have about 25 to 30% of their total payroll locked up in both Jenkins and Lee. Those guys need to perform, otherwise they'll be in trouble when it comes to locking up the likes of Ben Sheets long - term.

Thought this was interesting. Potential Skiles replacement in the future possibly if this goes down?
-
I'm thinking if we want to acquire Vazquez from Arizona still, if a Big Unit trade goes down, Jon Garland and Brian Anderson will probably be the starting point in negotiations.

Don't be a pissant in Reinsdorf's world now Tex.

In a few years I think payroll could possibly be up to that mark, depending on how sucessful the Sox are and attendance figures etc. Payroll has been steadily increasing over the past few seasons though, not like some teams like Philly who have to be cutting payroll.
-
Grilli will be where he should be, holding down the fort in Charlotte's rotation. Diaz has a slight chance of making the bullpen, but he'll need a Jon Adkins like spring training to have any chance. Most likely he'll be back in Charlotte as well, working on his breaking pitches to complement the only 2 good pitches he has now, because he'll have no chance of making it as a starter in the MLB with only 2.

Boston's almost going to have to handle Clement like we are with Henrandez, very carefully by lowering pitch counts etc. Plus you don't just don't know how each pitcher is going to perform in their new park.

Kidd had 7 boards in the 1st period. Take note Mr. Curry.

Frankly I couldn't care how the Cubs did, hell nothing like them choking on the national stage again if they made the playoffs. I want the Sox to win a world series, and sometime soon.
-
I think the Sox's first target is still Cairo, but if the Cards offer him the 2B job for the right price, he's most likely headed there. The Sox need to be careful that another team doesn't snap up Alez Cora if he's their plan B.
-
I think with Kaz though it had something to do with his contacts, or he had trouble seeing Piazza's signs or something. But it's definitely something the Sox need to cover if they want to sign Iguchi.
-
Says the Sox have offered him $4 mill over 2 years, but he won't accept it. Says Reinsdorf wants to meet him as well. I don't buy it.

Meh Green Seats, Blue Seats, Pink Seats. Who cares, well at least I don't have to.

Say if we didn't sign Timo though Gene, do you think if we pursued Mohr he would have signed for us instead of the Rockies? Even though the parks are both similar, and Mohr wanted to increase his value for next season's FA, at least the Rockies could offer him consistent playing time, as he'll most likely be one of their 3 outfielders. And I'm not saying I like the Timo deal either.
-
Buerhle really stepped up huge last season, even after a fairly slow start. The long - term contract he signed definitely helped, and for the money he's making over the next 3 to 4 years, he looks like a bargain in this current market. I don't think we're going to see many pitchers in our rotation have a better home ERA than their road ERA. Buerhle and Garcia most likely won't, I doubt Garland will, Contreras and Hernandez well we really don't know what to expect from them next season.
-
Dustan Mohr got a 1 year 900,000 deal from the Rockies I think. Now I'm not saying that the Sox would have gotten him even they pursued him, but that's certainly looking like a better deal than the one they gave Perez.
-
The potential reward outweighs the risk I think though. Clement for 3 years is an iffy proposition with the state of his arm. Now Perez I wouldn't have minded, but yes he got killed in the playoffs, and yes he didn't exactly fit in great with L.A's clubhouse. Even if El Duque struggles, B-Mac should be ready in 2006 to take over his rotation spot if we need him to. But if El Duque can produce like he did last season, 15 wins and a ERA of about 4 is certainly not out of the question. But Ozzie has to watch out for his pitch counts, because we all know he likes to leave his starters in there, and with the additions to the bullpen, he doesn't really need to do that as much in 2005.
-
I think Perez will be headed to Seattle, Adrian Beltre was making a pretty big pitch for him to join him up there. Afterwards, one of Gil Meche or Ryan Franklin will most likely be traded as well.
