  1. Yeah it should be interesting to see if a team that claims him, gives him a legiminate shot at making the pen out of spring training, or whether they keep him as a starter, although you'd hav to believe it'd be the former.
  2. Before you know it, Texas will be all over him.
  3. Yeah, the only way I can see him possibly making the Sox's roster on the bench is if one of Konerko or Gload is moved, which could still be very possible. But besides this season, Garcia hasn't really dominated the minors as far as I know.
  4. He hit 32 home runs as well in AAA, don't know if Las Vegas has a hitters park or not though, probably have to get one of the minor league gurus like Rex to check that one out.
  5. Beltre News; Santiago a Pirate; Brewers ain't gettin Byrd; Valentin to the Rangers; 5 to 6 new teams after Sosa;

    And yes..... I heeded the call.
  9. Yeah Jim Bowden made that pretty clear a week or 2 ago, and I can't say I blame him.
  10. Possible ideas include; $$$ signs floating away from Scot Bora$$ A Giant Magnet with Odalis Perez and Matt Clement flying around A.J Pierzynski being beat up with a baseball bat while playing cards Tim Raines yelling at Willie to run, and Willie just stands there.
  11. Still longing for that LH power hitter in J.D Drew or Brian Giles there YASNY.
  12. We'll only sign him to a minor league contract and he'll probably start the year down at Charlotte.
  13. For all those who hated Russ Ortiz as a FA signing, they'll hate Victor Zambrano even more. Almost had as much BB's as he had K's. Nuff said.

    Frankly I think Cleveland might actually wind up with Milton depending on which direction they take with their infielders. His agents won't budge on his demand of $8 mil for 3 years, which is crazy I guess, but logical considering the current market for FA pitching (Thank you very much Fred Wilpon, Omar Minaya and Kris Benson).
  15. Like Gene said once, Victor Zambrano couldn't hit the strike zone with a beach ball. You're right, it is a crazy trade idea. Fred Wilpon won't allow Omar Minaya to trade him, it'll dent his ego after he traded his best prospect (Worst.Trade.Ever) Scott Kazmir for him. The Mets don't have a need for Everett. Even though they lost Hidalgo, they are about to sign Moises Alou. And why trade for Piazza, a guy who would take up about 20% of our payroll (not a good thing for a team without a big budget) when the guy only hit .266 with 20 HR's last season.

    If it is, we're going to have to beat the Mets, but if they get Pedro things could change there. Washington did offer him 3 years $20 mill and Jim Bowden didn't think that would be enough either. The only other starters I can think of on the market are Eric Milton and Paul Byrd, and they are both extreme flyball pitchers I think.
  17. Carlos Lee was hitting .299 with RISP in 2004, so there's no doubt we'll definitely miss him in the middle of the lineup. Some other stats to consider, Scott Podsednik had a .275 AVG on BABIP (Batting Average on Balls In Play) which was the lowest in the Brewers lineup and that means the percent of batted balls that fall in for hits, not including home runs. He only had a LD% of .160 which is the batter's line drives, expressed as a percent of his total batted balls that resulted in an at bat (e.g., foul outs, home runs and all fairly hit balls). Podsednik also had a RC/G of 4 which is runs created per 27 outs.
  18. I'm still interested to see what happens with Harris. He very well could still be trade bait, and go into a deal for someone like Tim Hudson still perhaps. I still think we'll get a guy to compete with him, the general theory this time last night seemed to think Keith Ginter would be that guy. Now we'll probably wait until December 20 to see if Alex Cora is non - tendered or not, and if he is, the Sox will probably be all over him.
  19. He's definitely been a positive the last 10 games. Now if only he can stay injury free .....................
  20. Payroll was at about $71 million before the trade, now it'd be at about $64 million I'd assume. Depending on where payroll ends up we could hav from 6 to 11 million to spend abouts.
  21. Not sure, but FWIW doesn't Arizona still get a player to be naed later in the Robbie Alomar deal from mid-season?
  22. That could cost up to $15 million just to lock those 3 players up.
