At least he could have been mean and said Joe Borchard I guess.

Man I used to be happy just getting a strike. Congrats on the 300 too Wite.

The A's got extremely lucky with their big 3. Not all teams that have used the so called "Beane" model of GMship if there's such a team have been sucessful. Teams like Toronto come to mind. KW and Ozzie do want to move this team into that direction though, hence why they want to go after speed and defense giving up power guys (Konerko). The fans have shown they'll show up in big numbers if we're in the race, which we very much were heading into July. When Frank and Maggs went down though, that killed us, and any momentum we had, don't forget we had swept Minny at the Dome, and seriously looked the goods in our division. If we had some more luck, which many different teams have had over the years, who knows where'd we possibly be.

1 - One of Renteria or Nomar will be playing with the Cubs next season, pretty much a lock, espeicially after they missed out on Percival, and probably won't be willing to pay for Benitez due to his shaky record in "big" markets. If it's Renteria they sign, we still have a shot a Nomar on a 1 year incentive - laden deal perhaps. I wouldn't hold out much hope for Edgar, even though he'd fit our needs for more speed and defense better. 2 - Looks more and more like RJ will void a trade to the White Sox. Cards or Angels will prob get him, can't see the Yanks having enough pieces to get a deal done, which could actually cost Cashman his job. Too bad Jim Bowden got the GM gig in Washington so quick huh. 3 - Our oufield situation is still clouded. Do we stick Everett into RF? What about DH? Do we trade him? I'd say we try and sign a FA like Dave Roberts or Jermaine Dye perhaps, depending on whether we can fit them into our payroll. All in all, it still looks like we'll be trying to sign a reliever and a starter, which were the original trargets heading into FA. Jason Kendall is also still very much on the radar.

Would you do this deal?

Also this about Reinsdorf, Boras, Steve Stone and Guzman;
-
Thought this was an interesting read, I'll just post the snippets that concern the White Sox;
-
Brezec, Okafor > Curry, Chandler.
-
If we signed Chacon though are we thinking 5th starter or reliever?
-
They aren't. He'd most likely actually be a DH for them which I don't really understand but it's their decision I guess.

Or about 9 p.m my time.

I don't think we'd be paying another outfielder around $4 mill when we already have more pressing needs at SP, RP and SS/2B. And you can EASILY get more for Paulie than just a 27 year outfielder who had his worst season, and a platoon second baseman who has a history of injury problems. And Baltimore would more likely deal Jorge Julio instead of BJ Ryan.
-
Same here, although I've made more of an effort to stop in recent years.
-
Just some stats to add to the argument. The Bears have an average of 249.6 yards and conceed 322.1 yards. They give up 204.2 passing yards a game and only have 134.8 yards passing themselves. Craig Krenzel has a QB rating of 49.4 and a CMP% of only 43%. Anthony Thomas only averages 3.3 yards a carry (Eddie George Like). The Bears leading receiver is a HB who is now injured with 26 receptions.

At the moment it would be Wilson Valdez. It'll be interesting to see if he's back in Charlotte when the 2005 season starts, a big spring training could help his chances of getting on the bench.
-
I'm just saying I would expect them to try and move Everett 1st before we tried to acquire a Jose Guillen. I mean we would be able to trade for Guillen even if we had Everett, but we probably wouldn't be filling the holes that we most need to. I know there's a lot of people who want to trade for him, because of his numbers, but there's been a reason he's been on a lot of different ballclubs throughout the last few seasons. I'm just worried we'll have another D'Angelo Jimenez situation on our hands.
-
It'll be interesting to see what the Cardinals do next with their infield situation because it'll probably affect our next move. They could either resign Renteria or sign Polanco to replace him, or they could sign Polanco to play 2B, re-sign Renteria and let Tony Womack walk.

Rheal Cormier could be a guy the White Sox look at, if they miss out on Kline and want a lefty, or Jim Mecir who most teams thought was retiring. There was a piece I read on Cormier yesterday which showed he only gave up 1 home run like Tavarez did, but I'll have to find it to make sure.
-
Well who are the right players we should be going after in this FA market then FWIW.
-
Yeah that's what I thought, Anaheim doesn't want to deal Shields at any cost, although I'd certainly love him on the Southside, would form a great set-up duo with Marte. I don't want Guillen unless we trade Lee, and still then, he's a huge headcase who I don't think Ozzie or KW would want in the clubhouse. Davanon is probably more likely or perhaps even Figgins or Kennedy (even though he'll miss the 1st few months).
-
Would you have given Guzman a 4 year $16.8 million deal or Omar Vizquel a guaranteed 3 year $12 million deal?
-
Replaced with Garcia and Contreras. It's not like they haven't dumped them for nobody.

The last 3 games, the Bears have been insanely lucky. They caught the Giants on the start of their cold streak, just when their O-Line started to pile up injuries, hence they could no longer protect Warner. They played quite possibly the worst team in the NFL, at home, and just only pulled away in the final quarter. The Bears got hammered in offensive numbers against the Titans, yet somehow pulled a win. I can't see these type of victories continuing forever, someone will figure out the Bears D especially now without Urlacher. They are still quite weak in the secondary, and you know Peyton, Reggie, Stokely and Marvin will definitely exploit that this week,

It's only early but so far Deng is looking like a great pick by Paxson, and that Gordon has already lost the confidence of Skiles, and his playing time in future games won't have been helped by Piatkowski's performance tonight either. Thought Tyson Chandler had another good game, 13 points, 14 boards, Bulls will definitely take that every night.
