  2. I think fans were doing that at the Bears' players as well, or at least trash - talking. Found this from the Trib.
  3. Meh, in that case I'll vote Artest. I'm already starting to hear trade rumors with Ron now as well. Sacramento could have been interested earlier for a Peja for Artest swap but that ain't gonna happen now. New Orleans could have interest, and so do the home - town Knicks, and you know Isiah would do all he could to get Ron back.
  4. FWIW Greasy, I'm voting Grant Hill not Ron Artest for the 2004-2005 All - Star Game.
  5. Let's hope for no "Waldrobe Malfunctions" this time around.
  6. I did an micro - economics piece on Microsoft this year about the monopoly market they operate in, and the big lawsuit that got carried out against them. Even though I hated the subject, it was still an interesting assignment.
  7. The D-Backs organization is quite the shambles right now. They could quite easily have a worst record next season than they did this season. Ken Rosenthal wrote a good piece on their struggles now and in the future a couple of days ago.
  8. That's what I thought, which showed how much Ozzie depended on his starters on the mound. It'd be interesting to see if you get another quality starter, and you have 5 good pitchers in the rotation, whether or not the number of IP by the bullpen would increase or decrease from the previous year. It's suprising that the bullpen didn't throw that much despite the lack of a clear - cut 5th starter in 2004.
  9. There might be that big of a market for Nomar as he thinks. Los Angeles I don't think will go after him considering they already have Cora and Izturis and their infielders, and will more likely go after a first baseman like Delgado or Sexson and a catcher like Varitek with their free agent money. Nobody knows what Anaheim is going to do, they could sign Nomar, but are more likely to go after pitching and an outfielder like Beltran. I don't think there'd be much of a better situation for Nomar for a 1 year deal with incentives to play for the White Sox. It's a fantastic hitters park, and if Nomar can perform adequately, he'll get a nice contract come 2005, although it'd be interesting to see if he'd possibly resign with us and what pressure there would be from the fans unlike with Ordonez.
  10. Wasn't there a stat for the 2004 season in which either the White Sox Relievers threw a lot of innings or not many at all compared to other teams in the league and AL?
  11. Their owner Mike Illitch I believe is willing to spend to get the team back up to .500. Of course with their being no hockey, it'll be interesting to see the attendance figures for this season, since Detroit is mainly a Hockey town. They could sign Troy Glaus or Steve Finley in the next few days possibly, they are going very hard after them both.
  12. Good question, I was gonna say Orlando afta they went 0-19 last season, then I remembered we beat the Knicks in the season opener.

    New Banner

    Great work as always Ian.
  14. Found this tonight on Redmond from the Sotuh Florida Sun Sentinel, Now this is purely speculation, but we are in the market for a catcher, and probably this is the type of guy we could target.
  15. That's why signing a speedy outfield guy like Dave Roberts would be some perfect insurance as a 4th outfielder, because the likes of Timo Perez and Joe Borchard hardly inspire me in that regard. And Everett will most likely be DH'ing for the 1st month anyways.
  16. He K's a lot, so he's definitely gotta work out that ching, otherwise he could be another Joe Borchard. Gulp.
  17. Guys let's just cool it, I don't want to have to close another thread tonight.
  18. Lee was discussed too last off-season I think. Some team will pick him up, probably not us, with Konerko, Glaod and Thomas still all around at the moment.
  19. I've long been a fan of acquiring Zach Day though. He's a young groundball pitcher who would be an ideal #3 or #4 starter for us. Washington could have some interest in Garland and some prospects.
  20. FWIW Durham is making $7,000,000 this season I believe and now the Giants are trying to trade him after signing Vizquel. And at least Jon Adkins has turned into a MLB reliever, originally we thought we got nothing on that deal.
  21. Because teams will overpay if they get desperate enough.
  22. They already have a more expensive one in Giambi doing that for them already.
  23. Shingo Trading for Marte Trading for Freddy Garcia Not trading Konerko when his value was the lowest Hiring Ozzie Letting A-Row play everyday despite his early struggles You're always going to have risks taken that will either backfire or pay off.
  24. You think the Yanks wish they had Johnson now instead of Giambi.
