Hopefully Ozzie won't be sayin "oops I did it again" many occasions this season. He certainly seems to hav given every1 around the ballclub a lift, although remember it's still only the pre-season.

Middle of winter, is still not too bad. We don't get any snow down here in Melbourne, only up in the mountains, and the coldest it would get is bout 12 degrees, not sure what that is in faron height. Nothin like chicago in the middle of winter.

Yeah the Urlacher contract was a very good idea, gettin Tait will be a big boost to Rex Grossman. Do u think Tait will play LT or RT though, cos if the Bears don't sign another tackle, they still hav Colombo to play RT.

Also I know ppl like Yahtzee will be pleased bout this, Rockstar reps confirmed to GameSpot this morning that Manhunt will ship for the Xbox and PC on April 20. Already available for the PS2, the game follows a convicted killer who is forced to star in a series of snuff films for a demented millionaire. Besides being the first game banned in New Zealand, Manhunt has also stirred quite a controversy in America for its brutal gameplay. It should come as no surprise that the game is rated "M" for Mature. Manhunt will retail for $49.99.

From Gamespot.com, Prince of Persia fans got a double whammy of good news today. First, at the D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas, Ubisoft Vice President of Marketing Tony Kee confirmed that a sequel to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is in the works. (A sequel had been mentioned in passing at a recent conference call.) While he gave little in the way of information about the game, he did divulge its tentative release date, which is Christmas of 2004. The second bit of news came out of Hollywood, where legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer has bought the film rights to The Sands of Time. The deal came after an article in Variety reported that negotiations were under way. Speaking to GameSpot at D.I.C.E., Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner confirmed that the deal has been finalized and that he will write the script. "To make a movie from the game is coming full circle. I wrote the script of the game to be a great game experience," said Mechner. "Now I leave that behind and will write a script for a great movie." Speaking to Variety earlier, Mechner gave a hint as to what a Prince of Persia film would look like. "Rather than do a straight adaptation, we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story, much as Pirates of the Caribbean did with the theme park ride," said Mechner. The Bruckheimer deal is just the latest in a flurry of game-film-rights acquisitions, and it comes just one day after Soul Calibur was optioned by American Pie producer Warren Zide.

From Foxsports.com, Hill Article Chicago White Sox Spring venue: Tucson Electric Park in, uh, Tucson Additions: Ozzie Guillen Subtractions: Bartolo Colon, Nomar Garciaparra (well, it was close) Outlook: After finishing second last season in the mighty AL Central, the Sox added manager Guillen to juice up the dugout. They also approved of an opportunity for OF Marvin Benard — a BALCO alumnus — to juice up the bench in that dugout. Based on Marvin's numbers, it seems obvious that he thought the designer steroid should be applied to his hair. Also preparing here are high-IQ White Sox fans; only two spring-training beers are required before jumping the fence to attack an umpire. Reminder: In 2003, Paul Konerko enjoyed a longer slump than my Barry White CDs.

Another DE off da market to Seattle, KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks signed free-agent defensive end Grant Wistrom to a multiyear contract Thursday. Agent Tom Condon said Wistrom signed a six-year deal that includes a $14 million signing bonus. Wistrom, 27, had 7 1/2 sacks for the St. Louis Rams last season. The Seahawks hope he can provide a consistent pass rush that they lacked during the 2003 season, when they were 10-6 and made the playoffs for the first time since the 1999 season. "I know I'm not the strongest guy or the fastest guy on the field, but most of the guys on the field, I'm going to outwork them," Wistrom told a news conference at team headquarters. Wistrom visited the Seahawks on Wednesday and stayed overnight. Condon joined him Thursday and started negotiations with team president Bob Whitsitt. "I'm not the type of guy who likes to drag things out," Wistrom said. "I want to get in here and get to work." Wistrom was scheduled to visit the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals next week. Wistrom was generally regarded as the second-best defensive end in this year's free-agent pool behind Jevon Kearse, who agreed to a $66 million, six-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles that includes a $16 million signing bonus. The Seahawks targeted defensive end as one of their top offseason needs, along with re-signing wide receiver Darrell Jackson and defensive tackle Cedric Woodard. Both are still on the free agent market. "We wanted to get a defensive lineman, first of all, and we focused on a defensive end," coach Mike Holmgren said. "The two premier guys in free agency were Kearse and Wistrom. So that's what we targeted, and we're tickled pink about it. It makes us better right away." Although the Seahawks ranked in the middle of the pack with 40 sacks last season, their pass rush was inconsistent. Wistrom is expected to help shore up that area from his position on the right side of the line. Wistrom spent the first six years of his career in St. Louis, where he had 41 sacks. The Seahawks, as expected, this week lost free agent cornerback Shawn Springs, who signed a $30 million, six-year contract with the Washington Redskins.

We know who's goin to perform in our pen, Marte should continue to be one of the top 5 lefties out of da pen in the league this year. Wunsch will prob post very good numbers IF he can stay healthy throughout the season which I'm inclined to say ain't gonna happen. It's the unknown guys like the Shingo's and Polite's that are either goin to make or break this bullpen of ours.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- What had been just an annoyance is starting to become a problem for the White Sox. Rain wiped out their Cactus League opener Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, postponing the managerial debut for Ozzie Guillen after a lost night's sleep. "I couldn't sleep last night, thinking about the game and people calling me wishing me luck," Guillen said. "I was excited to come down [to the park]." Since the first day of camp the weather has been cool and damp, but until Thursday it didn't hinder the Sox plans. "It's not fun to go out and practice and it's 45 degrees and windy and rainy," Guillen said. Thursday was supposed to be the start of the battle for the fifth spot in the rotation. Dan Wright and Neal Cotts, both scheduled to pitch Thursday, will throw Friday. For Cotts, a native of Belleville and Illinois State, the weather the last couple weeks is nothing new. "In college, I pitched in this junk my whole career, so it's kind of normal," Cotts said. The weather is supposed to break beginning Friday, and the Sox actually have two games scheduled. Jon Garland, Wright, Cotts and Felix Diaz will pitch against Colorado while Esteban Loaiza, Mark Buehrle, Shingo Takatsu, Billy Koch and David Sanders will face the Diamondbacks. The big losers from Thursday's weather were relievers hoping to make an impression such as Jose Santiago, Jon Adkins, Enemencio Pacheco and Matt Ginter. They were supposed to pitch Thursday. "The guys who get hurt out of this are the guys who were going to pitch the last couple innings," Guillen said. "Now we have to find a 'B' game." Guillen said they may try to schedule an extra split-squad game with either the Diamondbacks or Rockies, two teams that also train in Tucson. "When you're fighting for a job you don't want to pitch in a 'B' game, but we have to do it," Guillen said. "I talked to them and told them not to worry about it, it doesn't mean you're not on the team, I just want to see them the most I can." Thursday's rainout was more of a problem for pitchers than hitters, who still took their swings in the batting cages. "The only difference is you don't get the four at-bats off a real pitcher," first baseman Paul Konerko said. "You don't get the defensive work, but you probably get a better workout in the weight room because you're inside all day." With a six-week spring training, one missed day isn't going make that much difference. "It could be a good thing," Konerko said. "By the last five, six days [of spring training], you're ready." Guillen found one other positive in the washout. "I couldn't [mess] up," he said.

From da Trib, TUCSON, Ariz. -- Friday should be a very interesting—and busy—opening day for White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. The Sox have two games scheduled, one at their home stadium against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the other about 10 minutes across town against the Colorado Rockies. Guillen plans on seeing some of both games. "I don't remember any manager who has gone to two games," Guillen said. "To me, I have to do it." Esteban Loaiza, Mark Buehrle, Shingo Takatsu, Billy Koch and David Sanders will pitch against the Diamondbacks. With the exception of Sanders, Guillen pretty much knows what they can do. Against the Rockies, Jon Garland, Dan Wright and Neal Cotts will pitch. Wright and Cotts are contenders for the fifth spot in the rotation. "I'll just go there to scout," Guillen said. "I might start here because it's the opening game and we're the home team, and go over there and finish up watching those kids." … Randy Johnson was scheduled to start Thursday, but it appears as though he won't pitch Friday. … The Sox will play a 'B' game Saturday morning against Colorado on one of the back diamonds. … The weather didn't bother Frank Thomas, who wasn't scheduled to play Thursday anyway. "We would prefer those nice sunny days, they're ahead of us," he said. "Spring training can be too long sometimes, we'll be OK, we still have [four] weeks." … The White Sox will auction off items on whitesox.com beginning March 8. Available will be an autographed Guillen jersey, a ball signed by Takatsu and a base signed by the Opening Day starting lineup.
